I usually wear a pair of cheap running shoes. While I agree 100% on ankle
support being important, boots I find do not offer near the grip that
sneakers do. I also tend to work a lot on the balls of my feet, and
sneakers seem to accommodate that better than boots. It really depends on

A friend of mine uses them in his work as an insurance adjuster to estimate
roofs. He says they are the best he had found.

No way would I trust something like that to get up a 12/12 roof. Maybe
to help a little, but anything over 6/12 I use ropes.

An insurance adjuster that was a customer of ours actually recommended
these to us. He specifically did roof inspections after damage.
I have one technician that uses them for really steep roofs. He claims they
are effective on a 12/12. There are some variables like the shape of the
shingles on
Skate shoes work pretty well for gripping the shingles, as the gravel is a
lot like grip tape. However, they have soft soles and the ladder rungs
kill your feet after a day or so. Plus, skate shoes have no ankle
support. I always prefer boots, as you can lace them up high and you're
less likely
