Bug#1059437: mrtg does not aquire data from /usr/sbin/smartctl after upgrade

2023-12-25 Thread DM
Package: mrtg
Version: 2.17.10-5
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer, after upgrade from Deabian 10 till Debian 12 through Debian 11
mrtg.conf was moved to another location. I made apropriate adjustments
in new tocation of config file. All graphics was working except data about hdd
disk temperature.
Previously worked Targets does not work.
It's get data from smartctl:
Target[hdd_temp_sda]: `/usr/sbin/smartctl -a -s on /dev/disk/by-id/ata-sda |
grep Temp | awk -F " " '{print $10}'`
After upgrade all such targets get no data and graphics are not built.
Directly runned command are okay. Data are being getted.
As I think, such problem appears because smartctl takes some time. And when
mrtg were launched through crontab it were normal.
And now it terminate early than it gets result.
I tried to make temp location for data, but it didn't fix problem.
Try fix with this:
crontab -l
  */5 * * * * /usr/local/sbin/mrtg_smartctl_scan.sh 2>&1 >/dev/null
cat /usr/local/sbin/mrtg_smartctl_scan.sh
  #!/usr/bin/env bash
  /usr/sbin/smartctl -a -s on /dev/disk/by-id/ata-sd1 | grep Temp | awk -F " "
'{print $10}'> /tmp/ata_1
in mrtg.conf
  Target[hdd_temp_sdb]: `/usr/bin/cat /tmp/ata_1`
But it doesn't work.
I tried to check getting data with such setup:
  Target[hdd_temp_sda]: `/usr/bin/cat /tmp/ata_1; echo 1; echo 2; echo 3;`
And it showed that first data a missed.
So how can it be fixed? Or I should reinstall Debian 10?

Re: request is missing required authentication credential. expected oauth 2 access token, login cookie or other valid authentication credential

2023-12-20 Thread ads dm
Thank you for your reply. We have found the cause of the problem. A
colleague reset the developer token, causing the original token to become
invalid. After replacing it with the new developer token interface, the
interface runs normally.

wrote:

Hi,

Thank you for reaching out to the Google Ads API support team.

After reviewing your query, I understand that you are getting the error "
OAUTH_TOKEN_HEADER_INVALID
"

in the production environment.

It appears that the credentials sent in your HTTP request are not valid and
this is why you have encountered this error. The prevention tip recommended
is to make sure you've passed the correct access token associated with your
account. It's sometimes confused with refresh tokens and authorization
codes. If you would like to get a credential that can access all client
accounts under a manager account, make sure you get the refresh token

for
the manager account. For more details, see our guide on access token and
refresh token

 and OAuth2
.

If the issue still persists, please provide us with the complete API logs (
request

 and response

 with request-id

 and request header
)

generated at your end to better assist you.
If you are using a client library and haven't enabled the logging yet, I
would request you to enable logging for the specific client library that
you are using. You can refer to the guides

*Java*

,

*.Net*

,

*PHP*
,

*Python*

,

*Ruby*

 or

*Perl*
 to
enable logging at your end. For REST interface requests, you can enable
logging via the curl command by using the -i flag.

You can send the details via Reply privately to the author option, or
direct private reply to this email.

Why all this GARBAGE WARE for one single app?

2023-11-25 Thread Mark Dm
I am trying to install gedit on mac , installed macports, then the xcode
requirements rand the command to install gedit. Now about 209 minutes later
I am still seeing GARBAGE like GstreamerXXX and GstreamerYYY still
installing . THIS IS NUTS! I NEVER ASKED TO INSTALL GSTREAMER. I know there
are dependencies but how can gstreamer be a dependency for a text editor?

WTF now it is installing something called "yelp"

I remember now I tried MacPorts years ago and ended up having to reformat
my Mac to get all the speed back after the couple of apps I installed. I
regret trying it again and thing it is all a bunch of GARBAGE

Is this juist a method by which you can install garbageware onto a mac for
unsuspecting users?

Thanks Laine and Andrew . I do believe that yadif=1 is what I am looking
for. After googling it I see so many others that express their love for it
so that sounds right!

Thanks

Its NOT Telecine. It is Digital Video 8 video at 27.97 FPS
I am looking specifically for the setting that derives the 59.94FPS from
the 27.97 FPS source with such beauty and without deinterlace.

[FFmpeg-user] Trying to remember how I did this.....

2023-10-04 Thread Mark Dm
I had some DVD Video that I had converted using ffmpeg some years ago. What
I did was converted NTSC DVD video (4x3) to 960x720 @59.94 FPS and the
result was incredible. I had found a forum some time later where another
user claimed he had done the same and he too had incredible results. The
result as I recall is way better than deinterlacing and I still have some
of the videos I upscaled this way. . It essentially creates a frame
for every field and if I pause the video I may see a slight blur but no
scan lines. I also see no scan lines while video is playing

I do remember that I did it all with ffmpeg command line conversions. It
does NOT use deinterlacing as that throws away half the resolution, and
results in visible scan lines. Instead it increases the frame rate by two
and I chose to upscale to 720P. As I recall I also did some PAL as well as
NTSC using the same method.

I am looking to recover this method if I can as I will be transferring a
bunch of Digital8 videos and want to do it the same way to create mp4 files
at 720P@59.94FPS

Any help appreciated

THanks

Mark

Campaign - Asset Level Data - Using API

2023-09-01 Thread Ethinos DM

Hello Team,

We want below data using API.

We want to fetch campaign asset-level data (like images and YouTube videos,
which are assets) and also want to fetch how particular assets are
performing according to a particular date range.

So, in the meantime, we want to fetch all asset data, including their
performance , impressions and spends date-wise.

Re: [sane-devel] Canon LiDE70 support

2023-04-15 Thread Mark Dm
I think also depending on what software you use to scan makes a big
difference some software has the ability to process the image according
to a defined preset or even auto mode. Seems to me I discovered much the
same on an old cannon scanner some years ago.

[plasma-systemmonitor] [Bug 465559] New: ksystemstats turns on disabled nvidia graphics card (possibly, other hardware)

2023-02-10 Thread Dm
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=465559

Bug ID: 465559
Summary: ksystemstats turns on disabled nvidia graphics card
(possibly, other hardware)
Classification: Plasma
   Product: plasma-systemmonitor
   Version: 5.24.7
  Platform: Kubuntu
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: ksysguard-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: dvs-1...@yandex.ru
CC: ahiems...@heimr.nl, plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
plasma-systemmonitor or ksystemstats turns on disabled nvidia graphics card
(possibly, other hardware) when launches

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. If nvidia card is disabled (prime-select intel), when plasma-systemmonitor
(or ksystemstats from terminal) launches, it turns on nvidia graphics card with
optimus support (NVIDIA Corporation GP107M [GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Mobile]). In
normal state, the power is off on this device. You can close
plasma-systemmonitor or terminate ksystemstats (ctrl+c), but power state does
not change.

2. If lspci or kinfocenter->devices->pci launched, the card turns off and this
is normal behavior. Relaunch of lspci or kinfocenter->devices->pci does not
behave like plasma-systemmonitor, so plasma-systemmonitor is the main suspect

3. If you launch plasma-systemmonitor or ksystemstats (getting wrong power
state), close it or terminate ksystemstats (wrong power state remains) and
launch again, the power state gets normal

OBSERVED RESULT
The device gets stuck in wrong power state

EXPECTED RESULT
Plasma-systemmonitor acts like kinfocenter: hardware is probed, but does not
remain turned on if not needed

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Kubuntu 22.04 LTS (kernel 5.15.0-60-generic), X11
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.7
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.92.0
Qt Version: 5.15.3

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Powertop was used for monitoring the power state
Got this message about this bug from journald: 10.02.2023 21:38 ksystemstats

[Powerdevil] [Bug 392798] Power button actions should be handled from lock screen

2023-01-27 Thread Dm
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=392798

Dm changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||dvs-1...@yandex.ru

(kubuntu 22.04, plasma 5.24.7, KDE Frameworks 5.92.0, QT 5.15.3, X11)
There is a little hack: even when screen is locked, keyboard shortcuts are
still available. So you can go to settings -> shortcuts -> power -> suspend (or
hibernate) -> assign a new shortcut -> push power button (agree reassign)
Now suspend (or hibernate) works in every case (logged in or lockscreen)

You say you are using "official driver" but if this scanner is WSD

Re: [sane-devel] ESCL

2022-03-11 Thread Mark Dm
I do not know how it works out for AirSane but with Twain2AirScan I have
tried using different ports for different scanners. I think that AirScane
uses different paths per scanner if I recall correctly.

Having tested multiple port based shares on the same IP address and I had
bad results. Clients like Mopria Android, OSX and other get VERY CONFUSED
and mix up names and icons. It seems that somewhere possibly in the eSCL
2.8 official specsI read that only a single scanner was allowed per IP. I
would get scanner icon A for scanners a and B. part of scanner A Name
would show on Scanner B .

Of course with the way Twain2AirScan shares the scanner a host system can
only share one Windows scanner. The other scanner I used for testing was
the other project on the scannershare.com site , running on a different
port.

[sane-devel] Asking for testers

2022-02-10 Thread Mark Dm
I have developed a solution of sharing a Windows Scanner via the eSCL
protocol. It is called Twain2AirScan. Although it is compatible with SANE
as a client via the SANE-AirScan back-end (not SANE-eSCL) ,it is not really
"SANE" .

Recently I added duplex ADF where before it had only simple ADF.
Unfortunately I have no Duplex ADF scanner.

So I thought this group might be a good place to look for anyone with
DUPLEX ADF Scanner that works on on WIndows that can help test this newest
version. You can test with a Linux, Android or macOS client, while using a
Windows Machine as a host. In particular I need to test Duplex ADF
(scanning both sides) so you would need a duplex ADF scanner.

You can find the download at http://scannershare.com its Called
Twain2AirScan

Thanks

Mark

[sane-devel] s400w scanner "middle-ware" or "compatibility layer"

I posted here earlier the solution I made for several models of scanners
(based on s400w scanner) to work With Linux SANE-Airscan and Mac OS, with
the link to scannershare.com. Since then the web site was
completely renovated and several people tried to download it and got the
wrong file.

If any downloads were from users of this list, please try again , it has
now been fixed. My apologies for the error.

Till, I appreciate your suggestions. I recognize your name from this and
Printing Mail Lists. I know that you probably know well what you are
talking about. The problem is you are talking over my head. In fact I gave
up on putting anything on github because I am so stupid I do not understand
it . I know how to do what I do and that's about it.
I know I recently did a new install of Ubuntu and something I installed
was a Snap package. I have no idea what it even means and would have less
of an idea of what to do with it. Just like I want to Build an an Apple M1
binary for the s400w project which supposedly I can do on my Mac, but the
learning curve for Xcode and Snap together would detract so much from what
I already know how to do, I would get nothing more done on other scanning
related projects.

[sane-devel] New "SANE" driver, or sort of "Middleware"?

2022-02-03 Thread Mark Dm
Ok I have spent a few years making various versions of GUIs and tools for
s400w based scanners which include Century CPS-A4WF, Halo Magic Scanner,
ION AirCopy, ION AirCopy E-Post Edition, iScan Fly, Kaiser Baas WiFi Photo
& Document Scanner, Mustek iScan Air / S400W, Transcription Patri Kun A4
Wi-Fi Portable Scanner. Heretofore referred to collectively as s4000w.
Most of my work has been based around the command line driver for these
same units by Bastel
https://sites.google.com/site/bast3l78/s400w/main

More recently I have worked on Twain2AirScan to allow a Windows Twain or
WIA Scanner to be shared over the eSCL protocol.

Recently it came to mind to simplify one particular version of something I
had previously written. As the Bastel command line driver I use in other
projects handles communication to/from s400w scanner, and I had already
created an eSCL (AirScan) interface in PHP the new product is NOT a GUI it
is only an eSCL to Bastel s400 bridge. It receives and sends eSCL commands
on one side and on the other side sends and receives commands to/from the
s400w by way of the Bastel driver.

End result? The end result is with the SANE-Airscan backend (not to be
confused with the eSCL Back-end) these s400w scanners now become
compatible with not only SANE , but the same code runs on Mac OSX_64 (with
included Mac X86-64 Binary ) for native Mac scanning.

There are Linux Binaries for x86_32, x86_64, Arm32(Pi 2 & 3). Sorry I have
no M1 machine to make an M1 binary and cross-compiling seems daunting.

This will be added to my http://ScannerShare.com page with Twain2AirScan
that allows sharing a Windows TWAIN or WIA Scanner to eSCL/AirScan clients
like Mac or Linux, Android, or Linux (using SANE-AirScan) at
http://scannershare.com. For now however there is no direct link for the
new s400w product but you can get the file by requesting it at the bottom
of the page at http://scannershare.com Anyone with an s400w scanner and
Linux or MacX86_64 is encouraged to test, please.

To be clear this solution runs on Apache2 with PHP or other web server. PHP
handles all the translation to/from eSCL/BastelS400W. It runs fine on
'localhost' and even supports automatic scanner detection
via Bonjour..Avahi. It also simultaneously shares the scanner over your
entire network using eSCL/AirScan . You will need a dedicated WiFi
interface for the scanner, aside from whatever you use to connect to your
normal network/Internet.

[time-nuts] Re: 1 pps / Gerber files

2021-11-25 Thread DM
To all who are interested in Gerhard's boards;
If you just send a zip file of the Gerber files that Gerhard has provided to
JLCPCB, you can get 5 boards, including shipping to your address (I'm in the
USA; I can't say what shipping would be to other countries) for a grand total
of $5.90 USD. The board manufacturing cost is $2.00 for all 5 boards, shipping
is a measly $3.90. PCB build time is 1-2 days. Shipping is fast and reliable.
I've used DHL for previous orders, usually arriving within a week.
They accept Paypal for payment.

By ordering boards yourself, you get 5 boards, for less money than having to go
through a 3rd party, and avoiding USPO costs and delays.

Gerhard,
May I have a copy of the Gerbers for the Doubler-Distribution amp? I started
designing a PCB for the board myself, but if you could send me a copy of your

The board I made was home-etched, so there are no left-overs,
but you or whoever can get the Altium or Gerber files.
Should be less than 20 bucks for 10 boards from JLCPCB,

RE: Deleting Links from Text Messages

2021-10-26 Thread dm-hill
Hi Mike,

I played with it for a bit, but I could not find a way to delete a link. I
discovered that in the action menu there is a copy, but it copied the whole
text and not just the link. And in the action menu there was no cut option. I
tried “more” in the action menu, but when I used the delete on that menu, it
wanted to delete the entire message not just the link.

If it can be done, I know someone will chime in.

Take care and stay safe!

RE: Voice Clock won't start at my appointed start time.

2021-10-12 Thread dm-hill
Hi Robin,

It does do the quarter hours. The only way I accidentally got it to work is
that on the setting screen I turned the announce of the quarter hours on and
off a couple of times. When you hear it chime, you know it is on. That is if it
is on, it will chime right away.

By the way, I also turned on the clock display. The chiming started working
after that, but I an not sure if it was turning the display of the clock on or
the repeated turning the chime on and off.

Good Luck!

hours chimed if it does that. As I said here it's doing a bunch of nothing

Hi.

I’m trying to get Voice Clock to work with no stop time. What I mean is I have
it start at midnight, and it stops at 11:59 p.m., essentially going 24 hours a
day. When it’s working, it works great. Problem is it stops at the indicated
time, but it doesn’t start back up. The only way I can get it working is to
open the app, and it works again until the next night.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Subject: question about iPhone and Alexa

Hi,

I recently started having trouble with getting my iPhone to connect to any of
my Alexa devices. I’ve reset the, turned off Bluetooth and turned back on, and
my phone will connect then disconnect. If it does manage to stay connected
nothing plays through it via when I hit play, sounds still come through my
phone. Any advice?

RE: sounds that aren't playing on my new phone

2021-10-09 Thread dm-hill
Hi,

I have Westminster Chimes Full chiming the hour and half hour on my iPad Air 2,
but with iOS 15.01 it is not working. I checked in the app store, and there are
some reviews saying that it does not work in iOS 15. The app hasn’t been
touched for three years. I am not optimistic about its future.

Richard, out of curiosity, can the Big Ben app chime on the half hour? Does
anyone know of any other chiming apps that are working in 15?

Thanks!

Take care and stay safe!

OK, I got BigBen working on my 13 Pro.

There is no customization option with this app.

You have to have notifications on, and allow on lock screen, in Notification
Center, and as Banner, and of course, Sounds on.

Then, it works while the phone is locked and whether Big Ben is in the app
switcher or not.

This is a new learning curve in iOS 15 that frankly, I could have lived without.

See if when you open notification settings, and go down to Big Ben and open it,
if there isn’t a Customize Notifications button at the very bottom right.

The same with the other one.

This is assuming you have updated Big Ben to the latest update that is fixed
for iOS 15…

I don’t know about the other one.

I turned off notification center and lock screen and just had alert and sound.

I have not tried Big Ben on my new phone, as the gonging on the hours takes so
long and you cannot do much else while it is chiming.

I’ll see if I can confirm it works.

Hi. Boy, setting up a new phone is a pain, but gives me something to do! I
have both big ben and west minster chimes full on my phone. I have sounds for
both allowed in my notifications and in the app. However, I don’t hear them.
I have voice clock running right now and that speaks on the half hour, but I’d
rather have the chimes. What am I doing wrong? Thanks yet again.

God bless!

RE: new Seven Little Words

2021-09-27 Thread dm-hill
Hi Donna,

It turns out that the SE 2020 with iOS 15 does have screen recognition. I
actually ended up using it to get my speech back on in the game after I had
stupidly turned it off. That was interesting! However, after that I turned off
the clicks, and the game really became unplayable. Everything I double tapped
wouldn’t activate. In the end I did have to delete the app and download it
again.

Take care and stay safe!

Janet,

If Direct Touch is not on when playing 7 Little Words the game will not work at
all. No, an iPhone Se 20 does not have screen recognition, which in this case
is a good thing, being having screen recognition on would make the game
unplayable. I can't recall- Did I send you a list of gestures used to play 7
Little words? If not, let me know & I'll send them to you. It may be best to
delete the game & redownload so that the proper settings are in place when you
open the app.

Donna

Hi Donna, would an SE20 have voice recognition on it as I can't find it
anywhere. I did as you suggested and still can't get rid of direct touch but
there you go. Janet

Hi,

Assuming that Direct Touch is still on per my previous instructions: Close 7
Little Words from the app switcher, then reopen it. Voiceover should now be
back on. Use one finger & swipe down to settings & tap to open. Swipe down to
sound & use one finger & double tap to turn off the sounds. Make sure that you
are using three fingers & taping only once. Wait a couple seconds between taps
to toggle between words or characters. Without waiting the tap may be confused
with the three finger double tap which toggles voiceover speech on & off.

Donna

Hi Donna,

I am wondering what phone and which iOS version you are using. I really liked
your solution for when someone accidentally turned off speech in 7 Little
Words, however, on my iPhone SE 202 running iOS 14.8 and 15 it didn’t work. I
was sillily adventurous, and I turned off speech in the game. Then I went to
the app switcher, and while on 7 Little Words I turned the rotor to “direct
touch” and turned it on. It didn’t restore speech to the game. Unless there is
something I did wrong, I will have to delete the app and download it again.

I did have the most recent update working, and I am getting used to it.
However, I sure wish you could turn off the infernal clicking. Right now that
toggle still isn’t working. I am going to write to the developer about that.

Thanks for your help!

I'm so happy that this is playable again!

2021-09-26 Thread DM
Jim,
That oscillator was a component in the old AN/USM-247V Versatile Avionics Shop
Test (VAST) automatic test system for Naval avionics systems. Many years ago, I
was a civil servant at the Naval Aviation Depot in Jacksonville, FL. While
there, I was one of a team of technicians that maintained and calibrated the
VAST system. Before that, I was a software engineer that wrote and maintained
the Test Program Sets (TPS) that tested and diagnosed component failures in the
systems and circuit boards that ran in many of the Navy's combat aircraft.

At one time, I had access to much of the original engineering specs on the
system, including most of the components in the VAST equipment. Alas, that was
in the latter years of the 20th century. The VAST system has long been
decommissioned and scrapped. Most likely all of that data has been scrapped
along with it. Those oscillators were nothing exceptional, as I remember;
probably in the neighborhood of parts in 10e-9 for aging and temperature
stability. They were 1970s technology, since the VAST system was developed in
those years.
If you have any contacts in the Navy or possibly someone in an engineering
support activity, they might be able to do some research for you.
Sorry I can't help more, but I've been retired from that activity for nearly 20
years, and all of my contacts where I worked are now gone as well.

Hi -
I posted a request a number of years ago and wanted to make another

Hi Janet,

Yes, a sighted person would need to go to setting, and check the box for text
to speech.

By the way, two friends and I did the same thing Because we didn’t have working
eyes available, we completely deleted the app from our phones and then
downloaded it again. That brought speech back. If you have purchased any puzzle
packs you will need to restore those purchases.

Re: [sword-devel] How to fix book names in Ukrainian/Russian

2021-04-23 Thread DM Smith
I had though about this, but it won’t work as expected. The user should be able
to type in such a reference and have it recognized. They’ll expect to type what
they think that character should be.

For JSword, we try three parsings of the input. First as an osisID (or
osisRef). If that fails then we try a localized parse. Finally we try to parse
as English. This is no means sufficient, but it works in most cases.

Troy,

Again, thank you for the emergency fix.

My apologies for the error. It’s my bad.

It has taken some effort to find when and how it happened.

[time-nuts] Re: OCXO McCoy Electronics OSC92-51B

2021-04-13 Thread DM
On a hunch, I searched for the other part number on the nameplate (0960-0477)
in one of the military stock reseller's database and found that the only end
item that this oscillator was used in was the AN/FPS-115 PAVE PAWS (Precision
Acquisition Vehicle Entry - Phased Array Warning System) radar system,
developed in the 1980s for the US Navy. I searched for any technical
information on this system and came up empty. Maybe someone else can do better
than I did.
The national stock number for the oscillator is 5955-01-086-8122, and is
described as a NON-CRYSTAL Controlled oscillator!!

Good luck in your search,

Hi

Since this is a part that Ovenaire made for HP, probably the best way to
work out what’s what is to find the equipment that it went into. Best guess
is that would be an item that shows up in the 1985 ~ 2005 HP catalogs.

( = OSC92 is an Ovenaire part number that was carried on after McCoy
folded Ovenaire into the “empire”). That makes it a > 25 year old spec.

Rough guess at the specs:

5x10^-8 over 0 to 70C
-150 dbc/Hz at 10 KHz offset
10 dbm +/- 3 db
10W power at turn on.

With the fine adjust it may or may not have an EFC. There are enough pins for
it to have one.

Pinout looking at it with the SMA “up” and numbering from left to right:

1) V- / return / ground
2) Case
3) B+
4) ???
5) ???
6) ground

Sure. The size is immaterial, but either send a link or the file to me
directly. It’ll be interesting to see how the KJV OT lines up with the OSHB.
I’m not sure when I’ll be able to attend to it, but I’ll have it at that point.

Re: [sword-devel] strongMorph definitions

2021-04-06 Thread DM Smith
That was the basic idea that David I-B described for the codes. This is akin to
Robinson’s Greek Morphology codes, where a skilled reader wouldn’t need the
expansion but at first.

If a map were made between Thayer and these codes, then we could apply them to
the KJV(A). We might be able to map OSHB to the KJV(A) if we have Strong’s
numbers in both.

These are coded to Thayer’s. These have no corresponding module. I’ve had
discussions with David Instone-Brewer about creating a morphology for Hebrew
and mapping them to Thayer's so that we can replace the one with the other.
That was years ago and hasn’t come to fruition.

Re: [sword-devel] Suggestion for markup of Romans 3:26 in module KJV

2021-04-03 Thread DM Smith
The history of the module is listed in the wiki:
https://wiki.crosswire.org/CrossWire_KJV#Module_Versions
<https://wiki.crosswire.org/CrossWire_KJV#Module_Versions>. That listing isn’t
meant to be cryptic but rather complete. The version history in the conf is not
as complete. We can make it more complete/in sync.

The version 2.6 has the problem. In that version we added the Greek words as
found in the TR, using the version by Maurice Robinson, which can now be found
at https://sites.google.com/a/wmail.fi/greeknt/home/greeknt
<https://sites.google.com/a/wmail.fi/greeknt/home/greeknt>.

I still have the TR download and the scripts from that change. So with some
effort David and I can figure it out.

David and I’ll look at this soon. We’ll try to figure out how this happened and
whether the problem is bigger than this.

The search is complete!! A friend sent me what appears to be the full package,
the .exe and source code (although the source code is all Greek to me).
I'll be playing with that in a few day & see if it will do what I need. My
FE-5680A has aged a bit over the years and I'd like to get it back on track.
Hopefully, this program will help with that.
Thanks to all who replied.

I've run across several references to a FE-5680A Calibrator program by Bob
Campbell VK4XV, but searches for it have been quite unfruitful. Does anyone
have a link to it, or know how to get in touch with Bob Campbell? I've searched
for his web site, but it seems to have gone into never-never land.

Thanks for any help,

Re: [time-nuts] World's most precise.... wall clock

2021-03-02 Thread DM
Here are a few online projects for GPS-controlled clocks. Most (all?) have a
PIC or Arduino to run the clock and sync to GPS time.
[ http://w8bh.net/avr/clock2.pdf | http://w8bh.net/avr/clock2.pdf ]
https://www.elprocus.com/how-to-build-a-gps-clock-using-arduino/

https://www.tindie.com/products/nsayer/gps-clock/
https://mitxela.com/shop/clock
https://www.sparkfun.com/tutorials/47

DIY projects are easy to find with Google:
The search string I used was: gps digital clock kit OR diy OR build

There are a number of clocks with Nixie tube displays also; just add "nixie" to
the Google search string.

Good luck

Subject: [time-nuts] World's most precise wall clock

Hi!

I have a perhaps silly question. I want to take an inferior medium (our
eyes) and give it something attractively precise to look at. Is there such
a thing as a digital (wall) clock with a 1PPS/10MHz/etc. input? I see that
some clocks have GPS antenna inputs, but I want to take a GPSDO and hook it
up to a digital clock. Purely for fun, as a mini project for myself while I
build my bigger clocks.

Maybe one day I'll make this work with a grandfather clock.

Thanks,

Bug#979612: after upgrade from 78.6.0esr-1~deb10u1 to 78.6.1esr-1~deb10u1 gnome interface behave erratically

2021-01-17 Thread DM
More testing has been done over the weekend and here's the details.

First to address a response from Stefan Benter -

This issue manifested itself not on a Debian Bullseye, it manifests itself on a
Debian:

Distributor ID: Debian
Description:Debian GNU/Linux 10 (buster)
Release:10
Codename: buster
Kernel: Linux 4.19.0-13-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.19.160-2 (2020-11-28)
x86_64 GNU/Linux

This bug specifically manifest itself on systems running:

GNOME: 3.30.2
Graphics: Device-1: Intel 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics driver: i915 v:
kernel
Display: wayland server: X.Org 1.20.4 driver: i915 resolution:
2560x1080~60Hz
OpenGL: renderer: Mesa DRI Intel Ivybridge Mobile v: 4.2 Mesa 18.3.6

This bug only evident (in my testing) when the following condition exits:

System has installed package 'firefox-esr' version - 78.6.1esr-1~deb10u1 (from
Debian repo) AND (!)
system has installed package 'tor-browser' version - 78.6.0esr - 10.0.7 (from
Tor Project directly)

When both of those packages are present on the system, it causes some sort of a
conflict with in the GNOME UI, specifically, how GNOME processes mouse clicks
on the UI elements.

This condition arises due to the delay between a point in time when Mozilla
releases a new version of firefox, and time-frame it takes for TorProject to
code, test, and release an updated version of the TorBrowser based on the most
recent version of the firefox by Mozilla.

As of today, Jan 17, 2021, once both packages have the same versions:
firefox-esr 78.6.1esr-1~deb10u1
and
torbrowser 78.6.1esr - 10.0.8

... the GNOME UI big in handling mouse 'left' clicks + 'right' clicks - NO
LONGER exists.

On the systems (it has been verified) with the versions mismatch, GNOME is NOT
properly handling mouse clicks.

That's the bug I have experienced.

This issue took place on a multiple different (hardware) machines.

Regarding the content of:
Location: /usr/lib/firefox-esr/browser/omni.ja

... the concern is not the presence of this file, the concern is of it's
content, specifically references to the 'extensions'.

This is an excerpt from: Location: /usr/lib/firefox-esr/browser/omni.ja

-- Extensions information
Name: Amazon.com
Location: /usr/lib/firefox-esr/browser/omni.ja

Location: /usr/lib/firefox-esr/browser/omni.ja

Status: enabled

There is no place in the firefox-esr GUI that shows/discloses to the users
presence of these extensions, while clearly they are present AND enabled!

There is no place in firefox-esr to locate and control, disable these
extensions.

I consider this a security issue and potentially a violation of core values of
the Debian Project.

Therefor, I would like to ask Debian Security Team to review and potentially
mark this ticket as 'Serious' if not 'Critical'.

This is a security issue and I don't think should be taken lightly.

Damien

Bug#979612: 78.6.1esr-1~deb10u1 issues / wonky behavior and security concern.

2021-01-11 Thread DM
Strange and unexpected behavior of the gnome ui continued since firefox-exr
ver: 78.6.1esr-1~deb10u1 got pulled in and installed from debian repositories
via apt.

Most obvious issue was the random glitch with sudden inability to move
applications around the screen by grabbing top bar with the mouse.
Random loss of ability to close / quit applications using normal exit dialog,
for example if chromuim or gedit confirming exit when more than one tab is
opened or if a user wants to save changes if such where made before exit.
Dialog is prompted but clicking produces no action and dialog window just stays
on the screen.
Using a 'TAB' button on the keyboard followed by the 'enter' button on the
keyboard closes an application as expected.

So this bug seems to have something to do with the mouse clicks interpretations
in the gonme UI.

Multiple applications are affected ranging from wonky behavior of gnome
terminal, to chromium and tor browser.
All related to managing application in UI with the mouse.

To stop all of this from happening I had to do the following: downgrade
firefox-esr.

And here comes next unexpected and strange issue.

Last know version that worked with out messing up gnome ui on my host was a
firefox-esr ver: 76.6.0esr-1~deb10u1

However (howeva!), when checking against debian repository servers, turns out
this version is no longer available. ;( bummer.

Instead, an older version available - 78.5.0esr-1~deb10u1

It is what is is, so here we go, that's what i had to do:

1. Elevate your user privileges or use sudo.

2. Check (ask) via apt what options do I have by quavering the following:
# apt policy firefox-esr

Examine the answer and look for the proper naming schema for firefox-esr
versions.

firefox-esr:
  Installed: 78.6.1esr-1~deb10u1
  Candidate: 78.5.0esr-1~deb10u1
  Version table:
 78.6.1esr-1~deb10u1 500
500 http://security.debian.org/debian-security buster/updates/main
amd64 Packages
 *** 78.5.0esr-1~deb10u1 500
500 http://deb.debian.org/debian buster/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

In this output its clear I need version '78.5.0esr-1~deb10u1'

3. Okie-dokie, let's do it... instruct apt do pull down the older version,
override the currently installed version - effectively downgrading the
firefox-esr by issuing the following instruction to apt:

# apt install firefox-esr=78.5.0esr-1~deb10u1

Confirm to apt that yes, that's what has to happened.
Once this done, I logged out my user session in gnome, logged back in... and
for the past 12 hours everything is running as expected with no issues.

QUESTION (!) If some one from Debian security team can chime in and comment on
the following:

When I submitted this ticket for a potential bug with the firefox-esr:
78.6.1esr-1~deb10u1 I used 'reportbug' package. Ok, details provided and right
before I submitted it, 'reportbug' package collected basic info about my host
and this has cut my attention.
In the report there is a section labeled '-- Extensions information'
With in that section it appears a reference to a file in my system:
Location: /usr/lib/firefox-esr/browser/omni.ja

I have checked and yes, this file is present in my Debian instance and yes,
with in this file there is amazon. bing, google all mentioned.

Question, what is that, why is it in there, and why hasn't anyone disclosed it
to a user before integrating it to a code?

I do not want anything in my Debian instance having anything to do with dose
platforms.

It would be very reassuring if some one independent of Mozilla, like Debian
security team to comment and perhaps clarify the purpose of those 'extensions'
I have never installed and yet according to this info, they are present AND
enabled in my system somehow.

I have checked and Firefox normal GUI settings do not show anything remotely
like that.

I've logged in on the Google Ads manager accounts page

(and of course can't create a "test client account" in step 2 because of

I'm using the latest version with arch linux, namely emacs 27.1-3.
Also, for what it's worth, "fc-list | wc -l" shows 4769 fonts installed
on my system. Could that be too many if emacs does some sort of linear
search for characters?

Added hexadecimal number and color support for starmath.

Adds hidden command on guy hex number wich allows to use numbers of
base 16 and also 0-9-A-Z.
Added support for custom RGB colors on hexadecimal on starmath
via command color hex colornumber.
Improved RGB color handle on starmath.
Changed the way the color is handled on starmath. Colors keywords
won't give errors. They have been moved to an independent tokens list
so starmath will load tokens faster.
Changed the way the font size is handeled on starmath. This won't
change anything, just related with the structural change.
Implemented premature support for rgba colors on math. This change
only adds the possibility on the parser, node and node visitors. For
now end-user can not access it since in a future there'll be work
to do on the renderer to add full support.
Added hex entrie on the docking window.
Changes made on Color.hxx, will save some nanoseconds on build.

If you are interested on allowing rgba and do the job on the renderer
(and all the other stuff than there are a lot of .GetRGBColor()),
you may find usefull color hex colnum. Since transparency setting is
ignored, the hexadecimal color has hidden support for it since did
not instore the max value (255 + 255*256 + 255*256*256) and everything
is loaded into the sal_uInt32.

I just installed the ttf-symbola package from AUR and ran fc-cache (not
sure if necessary). Now the problem is completely gone. Not only that,
but I even get the little memo symbol instead of a box with the hex code
point number.

Thank you so much! This was driving me nuts for months.

Thanks for the reply. I can send one of these emails to you privately
if necessary, as it might contain semi-sensitive information. However,
I think all you need is the subject line. For example:

Subject:
=?UTF-8?B?RGF2aWQ6IEhvdy1UbyBIaXJlIHRoZSBCZXN0IFJlbW9kZWxpbmcgQ29udHJhY3RvciDwn5Od?=

That subject line alone triggers the problem, because any search
returning that thread triggers the problem. When decoded, the subject
line ends with unicode code point 0x1F4DD (MEMO). Indeed, if I open up
a fresh emacs, and, independent of notmuch, type "C-x 8 RET memo RET",
it causes the emacs to hang for a minute or so.

Arguably this is a limitation of emacs or fontconfig, or I've installed
too many fonts on my system, or I've installed too few fonts (because
after all that computation it just renders a box with hext digits 01F4DD
in it instead of showing the MEMO icon). However, the problem only
happens with notmuch, because notmuch is the only emacs functionality I
need that renders anything other than a very limited set of unicode
characters. So if there's any way either to workaround the problem, or
to copy whatever other notmuch users are doing (is there some particular
unicode font I should just install on my system?), I would be very
happy.

Thanks,
David

Re: [volt-nuts] Panel Meter for Negative Voltage

2020-09-07 Thread DM
Larry,
Circuit Specialists has several 3-1/2 digit panel meter models that will
satisfy your need. They have both LED display models and LCD display models.
Examples are:
LED models:
https://www.circuitspecialists.com/digital-panel-meter-cx102a.html ]
https://www.circuitspecialists.com/digital-panel-meter-pm-1029a.html

LCD models:
https://www.circuitspecialists.com/lcd-panel-meter-pm-128a.html
https://www.circuitspecialists.com/lcd-panel-meter-pm-138.html
https://www.circuitspecialists.com/lcd-panel-meter-pm-1028a.html

eBay and AliExpress have similar meters; look for those that use separate power
supply wires They usually specify a 9V power source for operation, but there
aree models (a bit more expensive) that can use a 5V power source. These have a
negative voltage generator circuit .built into the meter for teh A/D converter.
See the datasheet for the ICL7106/ICL7107 A/;D Converter for details [
https://datasheets.maximintegrated.com/en/ds/ICL7106-ICL7107.pdf |
https://datasheets.maximintegrated.com/en/ds/ICL7106-ICL7107.pdf ] .

You're wondering about LED models that don't seem to have a minus sign on the
display; since the most significant digit on a 3-1/2 digit meter can only
display a "1" digit or a blanked digit, the middle segment is used for the
minus sign. This method eliminates the need for a special +/- sign LED digit..
LCD models have the minus sign on the display.

Cheers,
Dave M

Subject: Re: [volt-nuts] Panel Meter for Negative Voltage

That is not my experience. I bought several kinds on eBay after
inquiring and being assured by the seller that the meter would measure
and display a negative voltage, only to find on receipt that the meter,
powered from +5 vdc, displays zero, close to zero or a nonsensical value
when the sense lead is connected to a voltage negative with respect to
the return for the meter power.

And, on close inspection, the display has no LED segment to indicate a
negative voltage.

The other dirty little secret about these cheap meters is that their
response or settling time can be two seconds!

Has anyone actually got such an inexpensive panel meter that measures,
displays the negative voltage and indicates that the voltage is
negative? If so, please refer me to the sales listing.

Re: [time-nuts] 5 Digit Panel meters

2020-09-07 Thread DM
I must caution all who would buy the 5-digit panel meters, thinking that they
are actually capable of accuracy that you would normally expect from a 5-digit
meter.
The panel meters in question use a STM8S003F3 micro-controller, which contains
a single 10-bit A/D. Depending on which eBay or AliExpress listing you look at,
accuracy varies from 0.3% to 0.05%.
Make your own deductions from this info, just be aware that all is not what you
might expect of this cheap little meter.

Cheers,

What I was proposing was to try and use the tiny panel meters fount on ebay
when you use the category listed as *Digital Panel Meters*. One listing number
is 203076543505. Measurement range: DC: 0.000-33.000V. for $3.83 plus free
shipping. This is just one of many listings for similar items. As I stated in
my original post, I have no idea if they are accurate, stable or suitable to
what I proposed.
Some of the replies mentioned temperature drift and other potential problems
which may make then unsuitable for my idea. This was to measure three different
voltages simultaneously and see if there was some useful correlation in the
readings.
This is an experimental concept idea which may or may not be useful..Sometimes
these ideas work or we learn to go to plan *B, C, or D*
Because of the low cost i felt that this might a useful idea. Others with more
experience of these voltages and how much they do or do not change may judge my
idea as impracticable.
That's fine.

I learn from the list comments and I'd rather hear that it's not a good idea
from the members before spending the money and effort.
I do have a Fluke/Phillips 6.5 for making precise reading when needed.

Re: [time-nuts] HP-10811AB-OCXO interface questions

2020-09-02 Thread DM
Manfred,
The 05328-20027 part number is the HP part number for the bare PCB used in the
A3 assembly 05328-60027 interface board. You can find the schematic for that
assembly in the manual for the militarized version of the 5328A (AN/USM-459) at
[ https://radionerds.com/images/9/9a/TM_11-6625-2941-14%26P.PDF |

Subject: [time-nuts] HP-10811AB-OCXO interface questions

Hi all,

I bought 2 x 10811 OCXOs for a 10MHz GPSDO project I am working on.
The OCXOs came with an interface board HP 05328-20027, see attached
pictures.

Questions:
1. Is it worth keeping the interface board?
a. If yes, does anyone have the schematic and the data on the ICs?
b. What is that TO220 device? and
c. why is it mounted on a standoff on the back of the PCB?
2. Any advice/caution on matching the OCXO output impedance?
3. Any recommendation for a (>= 4-ch) distribution amplifier?
4. Any advice on a low jitter comparator for further digital processing,
e.g. for a 1pps signal?

Thanks and 73

No, it never worked...

Unfortunately it is not compatible with 2.4.9, because of introduced

Can you test with current openvpn master if that works for you? That has
now allows you set the --cipher in ccd/connect-client scripts.

Hello!

Compiled master from git, installed on server copy with Ubuntu 18.04.

Compiled  the same master with enable-small on my Ubuntu 20.04 desktop.

Added ncp-disable to config.

If cipher is different from default on client and there is no cipher
in ccd for client - connection fails.

If I add specific cipher to client, i.e. ciphers match- everything is
fine.

So, looks like it works, but unfortunately, there is problem:

Then I compiled openvpn-2.3.18 on Centos 6.

It connects if it is compiled by just  using configure.

But if I compile 2.3.18 with enable-small, then 2.5 server dies,
always, even if there is no cipher in ccd and ciphers match.

How Handle DNS timeout cases from Application

2020-06-08 Thread Jayashankara DM via curl-library
Hi,

We are facing an application crash issue when DNS resolution is not
successful.

Background:
We have a multi-threaded application, In which only one thread uses the
curl to make connections to our server. Remaining threads are not using
curl.

Curl version: curl-7.63.0
OS : Linux

When DNS resolution is not possible for some reason (like DNS server is
down or can be any other reason) our application is crashing.

Can please let me know how to handle this case in our application, We tried
setting CURLOPT_NOSIGNAL = 1 which solves this problem, But leads to some
other issues like not handling dynamic server down issues.

Please answer below questions wrt this issue.

1>

Can you please suggest how to handle the DNS resolution issues ( May be
timeout or DNS server is wrong or DNS server is not configured ) from
application point of view to avoid the crash ?

2>

Please also let me know "curl-7.63.0" is by default support "threaded
resolver" or from which curl version onward "threaded resolver " is
supported by default ?

3>

One basic question: We have a board with curl 7.49.1 and Client application
is built with curl-7.63.0 (libcurl.so dynamic library) . When we run this
application on board will it use curl version 7.49.1 or curl-7.63.0 ?

Thanks,
Jay

Nothing ready-made, but with a little effort, you could make one of them work
for you.
Hope they help

Subject: [time-nuts] OCXO Support Board

Does anyone know of a ready made board that will allow me to mount and at the
least, minimally support the operation of an MV89A oscillator. I have one which
I've powered up deadbug style and would like to clean up the mess a little.

Thanks

Re: [sword-devel] Chapter descriptions

2020-05-09 Thread DM Smith
In the AKJV link you gave, line 11 is:

\cd 1 Elimelech driven by famine into Moab, dies there. 4 Mahlon and Chilion,
having married wives of Moab, die also. 6 Naomi returning homeward, 8 dissuades
her two daughters in law from going with her, 14 Orpah leaves her, but Ruth
with great constancy accompanies her. 19 They two come to Bethlehem, where they
are gladly received.

Is that what you are calling a chapter index?

David and I have been wondering how we should mark those up in OSIS for the KJV
1769.

I think that chapter also has titles.
