I’ve had a brief look at the manual as I don’t own one of these machines any
longer as I never liked the one I had and was quite happy to throw it in the
bin.
Regardless of that it seems that the DM720 doesn’t have a combine track
function as I was going to suggest that another recording be made

second-hand Sony Minidisc handheld such as the MZR-900 which actually has a
combine function.

Ah if joining 2 files is your thing I think all Olympus recorders do
that. It's in the file menu.

I received the microphone a short while ago and I have to admit that the object
wasn’t quite what I expected it to be but initial recordings have sur exceeded
my expectations.
The microphone comes as is in its cary case with a 3.5MM jack to socket which
I’m not sure what its supposed to do.
