Hey folks,
I looked through the archives, but didn't see this question, although
I'm sure it's a FAQ... I also looked through the various HowTos and
other docs, but couldn't find an answer.
Back in the day ESD's big claim to fame was that with it more than one
app could write to the audio

I have an Audigy 2 card which works for all sorts of playback. However
recorded sound is heavily distorted. I have yanked all the alsamixer
sliders upp and down in all possible constellations, the input remains
very distorted, even if the sound is very weak. The clipping becomes
easily visible on

Some other program is using your sound, probably a sound daemon like

Hi, I just finished compiling the 2.6.1-mm2 kernel in order to get sound
and ethernet support for my nforce2 motherboard (shuttle an35n-ultra).
After reading everything I could find on the web and in the mailing list
archives I realized I had to use the snd_intel8x0 module, install
alsa-lib-1.0.1
I downloaded version 1.0.1 and compiled it without errors. But when I run
service alsasound restart I got this error:
Starting sound driver: snd-emu10k1

I just updated to kernel 2.6.1 which seems to have Alsa 0.9.7.
I have a P4P800 motherboard with an ICH5 chipset.
All the channels are unmuted and the volumes raised.
Yet I still hear absolutely no sound.
Xmms and aplay work fine with no errors, just no sound.
Is this something known and fixed

Greetings -
I have a fairly new motherboard, an ABIT AN7 with an NForce2 chipset.
I am using Alsa 1.0.1 as modules compiled for my Fedora Core 1 kernel
from the RPMS on freshrpms.net.
The snd-intel8x0 module loads without a problem, but the mixer doesn't
seem to work properly. I can get audio

I am having no luck in capturing audio, either from line inputs or microphone.
there is one odd thing... and I have posted this before...
If I compile the drivers as modules, load/unload then maybee. 10-20 times? I
will be able to capture audio. until I reboot... then
