hello,
After doing a start backup, of many filesystem, I run amoverview to check
the state of the backup, every filesystem is 0 except two of them (the

that failed first write cause of tape space and were successful on second
try) that are with EE code.
Whats the meaning of that? Is that
If you really, really want to do this, use the -f flag:

Hi,
does anyone know what the following means?

amrecover: Unexpected server end of file
I looked at the Amanda FAQ and followed the 'solution' for this error
but it is still not working. Here's what I did:
Hello mailinglist,
some days ago I had a problem with my dump: It was too large to fit on a
tape.
You told me to compress with server fast or server best.
I did so, but the error occurred again.
So I tried to backup from one server with rsync and backup the local files
with amdump.

Thanks I setup a cname for the interim which works well until I test out
the hacked amrecover.
Looking at the diff..are you basically taking the extrapolation portion
for the disk_regex to setup host_regex, so basically redoing the same
procedure???
That is what I'm getting from this so far.
This is actually something that Amanda will mostly do for you. There
are two issues: the schedule of backups across your dumpcycle, and the
process of starting amanda so it can execute those jobs.
First, amanda will try to even out your tape usage by automaticallys
scheduling an appropriate
Thanks Jean...your idea works great..why hasn't this been

On a current version of Linux, building 3b3 with the configure option
--disable-libtool works OK... It also builds fine without disabling
libtool...
Can someone please suggest what I should examine to find the problem
that is preventing an amanda 3b3 build on Tru64?

Hi! I've seen on FreeBSD a listing for gtar 1.13.25. However, I can't seem
to find the sub-revision number in the sources downloaded from ftp.gnu.org ,
and the most recent rpm from redhat is for 1.13.19-1. Are the sources on

We began using NAT addresses on our network a few months ago, but at first
we kept all of our systems that were backed up by amanda outside the NAT
range. As time moved on we started bringing some of them inside, and it
seemed that the easiest way to get both the inside (translated) and

I'm not ignoring you on this. Just real, real, busy with a ton of
other things. I have it on my list to find out why/if --disable-libtool

You need to go to alpha.gnu.org. It's beyond me what the GNU folks are
doing with tar and why a decent version isn't in their standard ftp
Can I use IP addresses in the disklist files rather than the FQDNs? If I
could do that then I wouldn't have to worry about DNS to begin with. I
haven't seen anything explicitly say we can or cannot but every disklist
file I've seen always has the FQDN. Although the other thing I notice i

Note the drive 0 part.
Amrecover does not use the Amanda tape changer, so you need to tell it
explicitly what drive to use, e.g. -d /dev/nst0 (or whatever the path
is for your system).
That's also what it was saying in the
