Tom,
It is the system that return the "No route to host" error.
You should check your system log (on server, client, router, firewall,
nat, ...) for network error.

Gunnar,
amanda can do automatic vault to the defined 'vault-storage' (during the
amdump run), for that, you need to put a 'vault' in the source storage.
Remove the vault-storage setting if you do not want this feature, and
you run to run amvault manually.

Amanda 3.5 can do everything you want only by running the amdump command.
Using an holding disk:
* You configure two storages
* All dumps go to the holding disk
* All dumps are copied to each storages, not necessarily at the same
time or in the same run.
* The dumps stay in holding

Matthias,
There is no dumptype at restore time. The information is written in the
dump image.
The only solution is to do a manual restore.
amfetchdump -p ... | amgtar ...

amcheck check the 'r' all permission, but it is executed even if the
permission are not correct.
I removed the check for 'r' all .

There is nothing to say without more information.
Post the amdump.TIMESTAMP and log.TIMESTAMP.0 files and the dumper,
chunker and taper debug files.
amanda use shared memory between dumper and chunker/taper, and one
process cancelled it.
