I think the native code is probably running as fast as before. So the slow
down is probably caused by a slower blitt function or the screen composition
has become slower.
Does someone else see similar problems with Android 2.3?

The code looks ok. The only differene to my code is that i don't
overwrite GLSurfaceView but instead register an OnTouchListener with
the surface view. Just in case, maybe you could try that as well? You

IIRC the base usb driver in XP from service pack 1 is buggy and
updating to SP2 doesn't automatically update this driver. Forcing XP
to update this driver solved the issue for someone else.

Just a random thought: you could try to add android:focusable=true
There's also android:focusableInTouchMode=true.
That might be a moot point as I believe buttons are focusable by default.

What do you mean by your program might not be running when the alarm goes off?
Are you using the AlarmManager and a PendingIntent?
Also if you just want to get a quick display for testing purposes you
can simply display a Toast from a BroadcastReceiver.
