Try one of the older images on my site. I'll be uploading a new image
later today. We made some changes in the initrd which may be causing
some of the problems you're seeing.
Not sure why it's been so quiet around here lately.

This thin client has both a VGA and DVI interface, as well as PS/2
keyboard and mouse connectors.
Are you not using those for your console?
I have installed AstLinux on the HP thin clients and used the VGA and
PS/2
