Also what is your CF showing as under the BIOS?

Hmmm, I have tried 5 or 6 different CF cards (old and new) and they all booted
as expected on the NF9HQL-D525.
Is the CF the only drive installed ?
Is the mini-PCIe / mSATA slot empty ?

The BIOS is seen the CF as mSATA and the OS is not recognizing it.
I try several OS including Ast-Linux.
Normal sata works.

There are also flexible riser cards for PCIe on the market.
BTW I use the JC-11x case with the included 1in2 PCI riser card giving me 2 PCI
slots with the NF96 board.

I have used system rescue cd. Burned to a usb stick tbere are easy instructions
to make a stick of it. It has all kinds of utilities for partitioning copying
and the ljke. Ddrescue being the easiest and seems always get the mbr correct.
