I'm hoping this is the last update of Audacity.pot before release.

It looks like we comfortably have at least two weeks for translation,
as there are (again) important bugs we must fix before release.  The
most serious bugs are on Mac, which we have upgraded to 64 bit, and
they result from that.

Developers know it is only bug fixing from here on to release, so that
should mean we don't create new strings for translation.

Is the "Quick fix" dialog accessible somewhere in the windows version yet?
I wanted to check my translation but could not find it.

I liked the idea of Quick Fix, but team decided it is not ready yet, so
it is hidden for 2.3.1.
The colons will stay that way for 2.3.1, even if not consistent with
what else is there.

Could you send a .po file rather than a .mo file, as that is what we use
when building Audacity?

This will be the last for version 2.2.2.

Those who translated already, please merge the latest audacity.pot and
make a very few more translations, and inform me when you are done.

As I said, by this list, or by pull request, or by Transifex -- I will
see you work whichever way, and I will verify that it translates 100% of
 the strings, and push it.

We are not definitely in string freeze -- a few more minor change are
not ruled out -- but close, and this might prove to be the last update
for version 2.2.2.

Can someone remember to update the header so it matches what ever
version its for:

"Project-Id-Version: audacity 2.2.0\n"

Hi,

Just to be sure, what should we, translators, do?

1. Prepare to the update silently as it seems PRs/updates via ML will be
ignored. Wait for the string freeze announce.

Ignored PRs:

https://github.com/audacity/audacity/pull/228

https://github.com/audacity/audacity/pull/234

2. Send PRs.

3. Send updates to ML.

Thanks in advance for your answer.

Best regards,
Yuri

I should mention something I myself suggested -- I said I dislike it that
the vertical menus of tracks don't give a quick means to enable zooming
again.

But I don't feel very strongly about this. It can ship without.

Hi Paul and all.

Thanks for the attention to and the merge of my PR. Really appreciated.

I've check the new pot file and I have to say that I like very much the
context comments you've been adding here and there. It does help *a lot*
with the translators'job.

I've overlooked the changes in the new pot file. Just checking we are on
the same page, I've understand from late 2017 discussions on this
mailing list that *you* are the one merging the .pot file into the *.po
files. I'm really fine with this since I think it separates smartly the
job to be done : coders are coding (ie: merging pot -> po files), and
translators are translating. I'd then wait for you to merge the pot into
the fr.po file to do the translating job. Could you please
confirm/infirm? Thanks by advance.

Happy new year and best wishes to you and yours.

Re: [Audacity-translation] Updated audacity.pot

2018-01-05 Thread mkpoli
I have just settled in Tokyo, Japan. I won’t have Internet connection for
my computer until at least Jan. 8th. So I can only update the translation
later.

I remembered I have done an pull request to fix a small mistake of zh
translation
on GitHub. It is likely not merged.

Re: [Audacity-translation] Updated audacity.pot

2018-01-04 Thread Paul Licameli
UPDATE: I fixed some mistakes.

See
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/audacity/audacity/c66eae1a46210be0bde04a90d72301ada3aa24c3/locale/audacity.pot

I have made more uses of wxPLURAL than before, but I used it incorrectly so
that msgid_plural lines were absent from the previous version of
audacity.pot.

Besides that, I also found that it is hard to attach i18n-hint comments to
wxPLURAL so that the comments go to audacity.pot. I found a workaround
that creates a few dummy string entries that you don't need to translate,
which each immediately precede the entry to which the comment really
applies.
