Hi.I completed the game yesterday. [[wow]], just [[wow]], what an epic story! The gameplay got a bit more challenging later on, but I still find it quite easy. Ill highly recommend the game mainly because of the story and the great audio, and I think its worth the price.Ill write a more detailed review if anyone is interesting in reading it, and if I can get my audio recording software to work as planned, I might record a short gameplay, so people know what to expect. I hope thatll spret the words more about the game, which would be cool!

When i search using search engines and click the link thats supposed to bring me here, it said this page cant be displayed for IE11, problem loading page for firefox, and oops! Then i duck and walk a few steps, not knowing the wall is so wide, so i unducked at location 5. And guess what? You are stunned, pushed to the left or right, bump into a wall and get stunned again, and itll continue as long as it didnt push you back from location 5 to 4, then 3, then 2, then 1 and then 0. Maybe impliment something that causes walls to push you back to the first square where the wall is at - in this case, itll push you right back to location 0 since the wall starts at location 1. Well I just went to google typed audiogames.net forum into the search box, it was the first entry and here I am, so goodness knows what this problem your having is, either it was a temporary forum glitch which is not happening now or its something at your end. I personally just have the forum saved in my favourites in ie, though as I said finding through google also works. Regarding the addresss, well index.php refers to the specific index page, ie, the page with the topic list on it (the page you get to when you click the index link). I did just try the address http://forum.audiogames.net with no qualifyers and it also worked.

Well Ive given the game a quick try. I do like the idea behind the game thus far of doing various activities, and some of the sounds are awsome (I definitely like the sea sound). My two main comments are firstly the text in the game needs to be improved At the moment all the descriptions were about go and train skills eg this is the city of dalgrin where you can train your skills, or this is the docs wana catch some fish?That does not really make for a good atmosphere in the game, sinse the game mechanics should contribute the idea of the player being in another world. While I do appreciate this is an early alpha of the game and that your still very much in the setting up first principles phase, this is something you probably want to think about for the future, especially sinse different textual descriptions could help with the lack of sound effects, for example you could use that same crowd sound sound effect in a busy
  city or a small village, but the locations might be very different. I would also suggest this ambience needs thinking about in terms of your skill use, sinse fighting A rat is not half so interesting as fighting A hairy two foot brown rat with breath like a sewer pipe and raser sharp teeth Same goes for fishing. Secondly, one thing Im a little concerned about is the way combat and the activities work, sinse at the moment there isnt much the player needs to make choices about or really engage with, its just hit a button to hit, hit a button to fish, occasionally take a potion or throw a shurracan. If the player say had different attacks or could choose different areas of the sea to fish in, and needed to way up different possibilities youd very much increase the engagement with the game. Sorry f these cryticisms sound slightly harsh. I know this is obviously an early alpha, I just would rather see thi
 ngs set out on the right foot initially. Entombed for example even in its early alpha phase had the ability to target different body parts of monsters and to ware different items on your body, thus giving several choices for combat actions at any time. Hope this makes sense. ill be interested to see where this one goes in the future when youve added more to it.

hi everyone,[[wow]] lots of positive support. good to hear this version will be received enthusiastically.about the pricing of the game ... in our opinion the blind community already pays a lot of costs and not only the costs of games. we dont want to be a part of the pricy games of today. so thats why it is set to so low. we also want to organize days in the netherlands where we let interested people meet audiogames. so we can afford more advanced stuff to record etc. this is taken from a public audio site where you can download free sounds.@dark,this game is a sort of grinder game. there will also a good amount of quests to complete, achievements to be gained. so there is definitely a goal in this game. but you should achieve this achievements by performing certain tasks. this game isnt combat oriented it is just a fun part to pass the time with. but about the descriptions they should be more descriptive. i agree. the dock
 s where a test at first and when i was sure it didnt cause any problems i wanted to expand it, like descriptions. and of course dal grim needs a descriptive upgrade.thus enough to do still.but we hope youll like the game for the members who havent tried it yet.greetz mike

Im not sure but this problem is probably linked to your computer or your Internet Service Provider. Maybe some kind of firewall is interfering, maybe some DNS server have trouble translating the URL. If the problem doesnt get too annoying, its probably better to wait and check if it disappears after a while.

Ask in a forum like gamedev.net, check the job offers from your favorite games companies and note their requirements for audio designers, learn both tools to show your employer that learning a new tool is not an obstacle for you (some companies are probably using their own tools anyway). Wwise have an Unity plugin so you can probably experiment Wwise without investing lots of time on the C++ SDK (unless you are really interested).Wwise is not only an audio engine but also an authoring application for audio designers (FMOD Studio might be similar). Wwise is supposed to make a clear division between the developers and the audio designers. With the SDK, the developers initialize the audio engine and send the events that the audio designers will render with the authoring application. The audio designers can design, experiment and test the audio while the game isnt coded yet.The positional audio is surprisingly not completely included in the freely available package
 . The developer have to send the distance as a parameter to be rendered with an attenuation filter. The direction isnt managed at all and the developer have to make his own computations to render direction, unless using an additional kind of HRTF module which is not free even for free projects. This is probably not a problem for a game company.I dont think that the authoring application is accessible to the blind, but Im not sure. Developing with this engine requires at least some C++ programming and wrapping which costs lots of time, unless you use Unity and the Wwise plugin. This is probably not a problem for a game company either.

Hello,I might not be able to help but here are a few suggestions:1. Disable any costly programs when running braillemon. Some costly programs will slow down the system slightly cause they take up system resources like RAM, and thats probably why its lagging.2. If youre running an older OS like Windows 2000 or XP, possibly try to upgrade to a newer one. Newer windows seem to be faster than older ones, imo.Hope it helps.Best regards,Kenzon

Kamochek,[[wow]], if someone took the time to convert my Sarah game back to developers files, add the code to create a new spell, then compile the game again, I want that person to help me!I have been busy with the Shades of Doom update and happy I wont have to put out 16 beta versions of the Sarah update to fix bugs.I could easily add a killing curse to the game but then it would be too much like Shades, in that you could kill every creature in the game.I would have to determine how much energy it would take. How about 99 percent?I am just hinking about it so no plans yet.

Hi.The topic says it all.I was looking at the mobile documents folder inside of the user library folder on the mac.Most of the names are obvious like com~apple~TextEdit and pages, but I found three folders that confuse me.They are com~apple~finder, com~apple~shoebox, and com~apple~TextInput.Can anyone tell me what these folders sync across iCloud?Thanks.

Im interested in knowing how one can hide sound files using something like this because Ive seen games that compress sound files. Once, when Philip came out with the Tic-tac-Toe Game, he used a sounds.dat which was a zip file that I was able to crack open and take out all the DECtalk files inside.

Actually, there is a way to open those dat files, and or even compress them. In one case, I was able to change the extension to a zip file and I was able to open it and extract the files.

Why is My DVD Drive Not Working

Hi yall,So I ran into this problem when I tried to eject a disc from the drive using the eject on my Mac. Im using Windows Seven Sp1 64-bit with Bootcamp. When I put a CD inside that I wanted to see what it was, it wouldnt come out when I hit the eject key, not even when I held it down. So I forced shut-down my Mac and started it up on the Windows side again. The CD came out all right, but now when I put a CD in there it just spins in there for a few seconds and pops right out again. I am at a loss as what to do. I tried the registry solution, trouble-shooting using programmes. In one instance one of the tools told me that it had detected the problem and applied the fixes, however the verification process told me that the problem still existed. I tried a system restore, but from this time this incident happened, which was back on the 29th of June, the only restore point was on the 15th of July, so this wouldnt be of help to me. Im thinking of fo
 rmatting the Windows partition and re-installing Windows, but Im already sick and tired of having to install Windows a fifth time because of hard drive failure and whatnot.So, has anyone run into this problem before?

Me too, on a windows7 x64 with 3 GB RAM, a 2.2 GHZ processer, and it is a dell laptop. It didnt lag with me as well. (Most programs i run on my system didnt lag... Maybe a few like Bit torent or other programs like GoldWave and such - goldwave didnt really lag, its just i keep on getting access violation errors, but thats for another day I guess.)

Yeah, I think some are hidden archive files that only certain programmes can read. Like the game Phiip made multi-player Tic-tac-Toe which uses DECtalk has a sounds.dat format, but I dont know what he used to programme it. The thing is that when I changed it to a dot zip it worked and I could hear all of the files inside.

This is awesome!So is pitch bend different than just changing the frequency and creating a new sound object?I think you could create a pitch bend function by adding a for loop making the number smaller each time that the array forloop runs...about the module above, there is a strange bug that happens when you import sound_creator() into another module with pygame already initialized. The frequency is an octive lower than it should be. So 440 is really played at 330. The odd thing is that without pygame initialized, it works just fine. Do you have any idea why this is?

Pitch bend as a filter is probably very complicated if you do the filter yourself, while creating a sound with a new frequency is probably possible, but quite tricky too. The sound will have to stop at a level where the next will follow without an audible transition. Maybe -1, or 0. pygame.mixer.Channel have a queue() method and a get_queue() method, so you might be able to queue short sounds when the queue is empty, but I dont guarantee the result. It might work, or not.The bug happens because the sound_creator() function is initializing pygame.mixer, which is not the right place to do so (a function which returns something shouldnt have a side effect). If initialization has been already done, nothing will change and the sounds will be created with the wrong parameters. You should get the parameters from pygame.mixer, not set them from the function.

I had this happen to me once, It had to do something with using a virtual drive, something about it caused issues with the computer. I had to completely uninstall the driver for the DVD drive and note the exact name of the drive itself and search for its driver again online. Then I just reinstalled the driver and it fixed my problem.HTH,

What about the Mac side? Does that work as intended? What drive is it, and what Mac is it?If its an iMac with an internal Superdrive, those drives are notoriously brittle. Get yourself a compressed air canister, and use it to squirt the dust out by pushing air along the slot.

Hi all i note that on my wives windows laptop when I couldnt get windows to run the japanese audio games after installing the emu and the language packs, that when i only have english left as a keyboard and input method microsoft word even though it only had english is now saying cant find japanese fonts, and is correcting all of her words?she runs win seven sixty four bit what has gone wrong?Only english is installed as far as i can see she has office 2007 i didnt think trying to run those games would mess things up zo bad

it might be a good idea to update your NVDA. just hit enter on the addon while NVDA is running. it will ask you if you want to install the addon. hit yes. then wait a few seconds. it will tell you to restart NVDA. hit yes and NVDA will restart. next time you go in to the synthesisers dialog in NVDA, speech player will be there.

Leave that alone. Its synchronised by the ubiquity daemon, and all the stuff in there is containers that youre not supposed to know anything about. You can, for all practical purposes, manage your usage of iCloud using System Preferences on OS X or Settings on iOS. TextInput, for example, is the user dictionary data.If you must mess around in there, I suggest you do it with Terminal rather than Finder, to avoid creating unused Finder preference files. But yeah, really very little reason to mess.

I have a bug to report which I believe has been introduced in the latest version, since that is when the additional geyser options came in. For some reason if I have multiple geysers in a custom stage, not all of the geyser puddle sounds seem to play (that is to say, the sound when you step on a geyser. The erruption sound still plays). Usually if I put in two geysers in the stage only one of them seems to get the geyser puddle sound, however I havent yet managed to determine if its the first geyser you come across or the first you build, or something else. It seems to be a little random.

Well Mike, I like the idea behind the game and the descriptions, and of course Im all for quests and such. My one concern with making the game too grindy is then you remove the players engagement with the game. As a good example of this look at smugglers 4 combat vs smugglers 5 combat. Smugglers 4 it was a case of get your skills, repeat, repeat! Ive never finished s4 for that reason sinse Id get my battleship, and then just be wandering aroun d for hours do the same thing again and again trying to win the civil war. With s5 though, the skills are entirely random, and just having to choose whether its better to save that taunt skill and use it, or whether I need to save that use that targit skill this turn or next because the skills are random adds so much engagement to the game Ive already spend more time with s5 than with s4, and with multiple professions. Id therefore suggest some
  random factors, some choices, some mechanics to grab the players interest might be helpful. I also would personally suggest 10 usd would be a fair and cheap price for the game, sinse what your planning will be something fairly major and time concsming, and will give people lots of fun. While I fully agree on disability and costs, there is no point selling yourself short either and if you get more cash that is better for everyone in the long run sinse you can buy more sounds, organize more of these conferences in holland you speak of etc. Btw, on the conference angle you might also want to contact Sander and Richard, from the game accessibility special interest group since theyre also located in Holland and would probably have both some helpful suggestions and be usefull in letting Dutch audiogameer audiogamers know what is going on.

Hi.Ahh, so the text input folder stores your custom words and those shortcuts that you can create on iOS?Hmm, does the dictionary sync with iOS or is it just from one OS X computer to another?Why does it sync finder information though?Is it supposed to sync finder information such as view settings to other macs?As for leaving it alone, youre probably right. Glad people like. There is of course more to and several more imortant games like braillemon and inquisitors heartbeat, plus updates to several entries like Bgt and time of conflict, but I am happier now the db is editable again and I can make some of these changes. Regarding favourites, well its up to people how they use it but generally what I tend to do myself is add games to my favourites that I personally think are exceptional or that I like. If I added all the games Ive played my favourites would probably be most of the Db! . Glad people like. There is of course more to add, and several more important games like braillemon and inquisitors heartbeat, plus updates to several entries like Bgt and time of conflict, but I am happier now the db is editable again and I can carry on adding some of these developments. Regarding favourites, well its up to people how they use it but generally what I tend to do myself is add games to my favourites that I personally think are exceptional or that I like. If I added all the games Ive played my favourites would probably be most of the Db! . LOL. here I was getting stuck trying to design an UI that was expected by janagirl and what do you know, a pack creater is already out there. LOL. I guess I was trying to figure out if I could get away with have the user in question just dump the list files in to a text file and having the pack creater put all the listed files into a pack. LOL.

Its just that experience shows that the costs of messing about in there are usually much greater than the benefits. Hopefully iCloud drive will fix this, to some degree, or make it a bit more customary.Yes, TextInput contains things like yourautocorrections, and yes Finder views and tags are among the things that Apple wants to stash away in iCloud.

hi dark,thanks for your suggestions. we are planning on to build in various types of resources. for example with level 10 woodcutting youll get the possibility to chop oak wood wich can be used to build stronger objects than the ones build with plain wood. when you build a axe, the axe build with oak wood will have 1 or 2 extra hitpoints than the axe build with plain wood.for this youll also need a bronze bar. this combination will craft a bronze axe. and with higer grade bars, there also will be hp added to the final product.i am going back and forth on the idea of giving a list with choices for wich type of wood you want to chop, or the idea of a random system where youll chop down a tree and it will be a surprise wich type of wood you got. this will bring in a bit of randomness in the game.i am also thinking of doing the fishing this way, cause at the sea you cant deside wich fish you catch. the fish bites and youll know w
 hat you catched when you pull it above the surface. this makes it a bit more realistic.and of course every fish has its own weigth, so it will affect your fishing pole as well.this are a few examples. some of these things i am still overthinking, and isnt stated yet.about the pricing, our idea was $5. but 3 or 4 before this post suggested we should ask more. this $5 also isnt stated. so it can get a bit higher. and perhaps indeed $10. but we arent sure yet.about sander and richard. it makes me smile that i should ask them for advice. i think we should definately do this. hopefully i am not mistaken that they were the persons who build this forum? and that they are employees of the gaming accessibility project i also know. i am following courses at a school of the same organisation and i heared their names every so often. i really want to meet them when it is possible a certain time.thanks in advance for your imput.gre

I think the reason is simply that the whole game engine is developed and interpreted in _javascript_, which effectively constrains what it can do to the browser or renderer that its in. If CoG started allowing accounts to be synchronised they would suddenly be creating a dependency on the network, though theres nothing stopping them doing that in a safe way that gave the user control over when to sync or restore.Of course, on iOS their app could store session state in iCloud, but that only works for other iOS devices.
