Personally I always tend to think sapi/screen readers are fine for basic stat info, numbers, messages and such as its only the characters that should be full voiced, but really I dont mind either way. I have to disagree with Slj however. If your supporting screen readers please! include sapi support just in case either A, someone is using an unsupported screen reader (as happened to me often with Supernova), or B, if someone sighted wants to hear the game and needs a voice. While I know lots of people dont have good sapi voices and prefer their screen readers in built high quality voice over the microsoft default sapi (though this is easily solved by getting a good sapi voice), there are people who dont have that choice, and lets not go down the leasy route as far as saying you must have this software to play, even if there is a choice of jaws or window eyes or system access or nvda or even supernova. Sapi means any tom 
 dick or harry can download the game and play without anything else. Oh and btw, no saying well nvda is free so its not a problem doesnt work either, sinse Nvda takes learing to use and installing, and if someone has no voices to use with nvda theyll be stuck with espeak or sapi anyhow, so even if you are addding Nvda support (which of course is a good thing), please dont forget about sapi too if your going down that route.The character voices as I said however, should be full voice, although if your characters are robots you could make a good case for using synths anyway because robots are, - well you know, synthetic!

Hi.A few weeks ago, I was messing with orca and firefox here on linux and noticed that there was this really annoying problem that firefox on windows and linux seemed to share. Sometimes, when pages loaded, windows screen readers, as well as orca, would just sit there while firefox loaded. Sometimes, they would become unresponsive while the page was loading, depending on the machine and how powerful it was. Orca didnt break the same way windows screen readers would, but it would tell me the firefox window was inaccessible for 5-10 seconds while the page loaded. After a bit of struggling with firefox, I asked some friends if they had ever messed with chromevox, because I hadnt. They told me it was probably terrible and that I shouldnt bother trying it, but I went ahead and tried it anyway. Despite the layered commands that screen reader users seem to hate for some strange reason, I am enjoying web browsing much more than 
 I have in the past. Anyway, Im creating this thread because I see a lot of discussion around nvda vs. jaws, but despite chromevoxs power and usability, I never see it discussed anywhere. So, anyone here use the screen reader? How do you feel browsing the web with it compared to a more conventional screen reader like nvda?

Mayana, getting all those odd amounts of knives and lighters is definitely a bug. Im working on fixing it.SLJ, would you mind sending me your saved game? Id like to run a few tests to see if I can find out what is wrong. It sounds like the game is getting some error while loading the file, but it isnt coded to display the error so thats why it just dumps you back into the main menu.

Im interested in Playroom more then RS games, even if the last one has the voice chatting feature, and even with the lots of games it hosts, but I prefer the way PR is built on: many languages, easier interface, the ability to talk in non-Latin letters, thing which is not present in RS. And while Playrooms reputation became bad at sometimes, I think its becomming better. But the problem is that from a whole month, we havent hear anything about the English admin, either shes present, she left, shes banning spammers, etc. The multiple accounts are being banned no matter what the language is, but I dont know if the history reports or the f4 messages were sending are being read or not. Anyway, concerning me, I like playing there, especially the fabulous Uno with interceptions activated. You can send me a friend request or play with me whenever Im online, I know to play all 24 games so no worries. My username is Riad.

Hello. I think its better that your upcoming games become SAPI/screenReader-based rather then being self-voiced, I actually think thatll be better. I also found something in your number recorded database: in your English games, if a numbers bigger then a million, tfor example 5 millions, itll read the number 5 then stops, while the problem isnt figuring in the Spanish versions for all of these, think of it, a TTS-based game is way too easier to carry on and to use without any problems.Thanks!

Yeah Dracoko you oughta be careful what you upload, is what you oughta do. NOthing dangerous in that clip, but that coulda potentially been dangerous if, say, that clip had personal info inside. Now that the security flaw has been discovered, I suggest you take it down. Or maybe you could keep it up as a reminder to future players what really happened, in case history repeats itself? Either way all Im saying is be careful in the future.

in park boss i had a great park, then got food poisoning and went from 100 pounds down to minus 90 or so pounds then i could not get out of the overdraft and they closed my park. how can i avoid this in the future? should i have sold my park for 300 and started over? or is this a bug? also in next version can you make some sounds louder, allow us to name our park and rename attractions to name our favorite rides?

Now that weve settled this, things should be ok now. I was thinking Terminator could get a warning about his misleading info see post6 where I posted that info he mentioned, but thats technically outa the mods jurrestiction, however the mods of klango have completely left the scene which is why its sadly turning into a maladjusted spam-fest, so no ones there to warn him of his misleading behavior, so, well Im not sure. The mods can handle this as they choose Im not telling anyone to do this or that, since really now that weve killed the flaw and settled the score, this topic is no longer needed, so if the mods decide to close this topic, then closed it shal be, with whatever the final statement is. AGain Dracoko be careful what you upload, and Id really suggest taking that file down, because that could possibly scare future players away from the game considering its had a pretty rough history as far as security.

So it would be great for Aprone, and had Patreon been a thing in 2011, we probably would have demanded he open one so we could throw more money at him.It might be good for, say, VGStorm, so we can still get cool stuff like AAC/Palidin/Psycho Strike, without so much drama over purchases.It wont solve my problem (apparently being the host of the Demon Lord of Sloth and Frailty); every successful Patreon Ive come across is someone showing that they can be reliable first, then starting the Patreon after months of people telling them theyd contribute to it.So, if you can pull an Aprone and release decent-but-cheap games multiple times a year, open a Patreon in your second year.

[[wow]]! and Ive been playing for days! You have got, to be, kidding me! Thats just stupid. So we cant play games now without data being collected? yeah nah thanks. The only time it would be ok to collect someones info like that is in the case of a ban, under which circumstances that would be necessary in the case that legal processions did occur. But for my, computer, information, to be in the hands of a group of people who either A, dont have a reputation in this community or B, have a particularly negative reputation, which is the case of all of the people running Ultra Power, just not exceptable. And hey, maybe this random guy who just popped on the forum is just doing this to anger Mason and/or his admin team. But this is the same thing as when someone screams out bomb! or starts spreading roomers that someone will bring a dangerous weapon to their place of work and do serious damage. This cant be taken lightly. In the above sit
 uations, you take action. And in this case, Im getting off of this game and uninstalling it immediately until there is ground breaking, concrete solid proof that my computer information is not being transmitted over to some angry hacker who I just blew up with a grenade in the middle of him typing a message. Hello.I played this game and found it to be an interesting game for a little while.I also agree with everyone hear when they say the moderators arent good at their job. There was one person who according to others on the game, hacked the game and broke eliquence, I have no idea how he or she did it, but this is wrong and if youre going to make a game and give it a server, surely you should be monitoring that server from time to time yourself? These moderators arent good. perhaps setting rules, for example, if you want to be a moderator: 1. in what year were you born? 2. How will you treat other members of this game? 3. What, in your opinion, makes a great moderator? 4. How would you, as a moderator make a difference and what can you bring that other moderators cannot?Something like that, so that peple who are just scruing around as moderators cant do so and ruin the game for everyone else.

Hello,I again have some bugs ... tried squashing and then eating them, doesnt work. (bug with eating bugs?) Damn, really wanted some more food for my people.Anyway, I also have the problem about opening saved games where it just returns me to the game menu. When I just started the game and then just saved it after that, it worked, though.I also started a new game, checked my items and everything looked normal. 1 knife, 1 lighter, 1 blanket, usual stuff. Then I checked all my 9 people multiple times, but it seams whoever had the blanket was hidding it and didnt want to give it back. Saved the game and wanted to open it again, but got the same problem with opening saved games.

I play there on and off, report bugs and ideas from time to time, but never stick with it that much though I like zombie stuff. I really think the devs should get closer to us and see how other muds work. Ill not gonna throw myself full-time in until the new set of profession comes out. But for the soundpack, Ill still continue adding some more to it, despite that sneak doesnt. I still sorta love it. Would be nice without all that spamming crap. And weird again, I never find it too spammy...or may be its just me.

lol aprone, believe it or now. I seem to think this game is easier to beat than castsaways. the only mission on castaways Im adept at is mission 5, really. Though Ive beaten mission 1, theres nothing too challenging. Now I dont play it much, except testing my strategy sometimes, cause the surver is down and playing just against myself isnt so fun.

Firefly, at first I thought about having jobs, but so far Ive decided to leave that type of thing out. If I do add something like that in later, Im about 90% sure I wouldnt let people be trained to gain skills they didnt start out with. The time span for the game is measured in days, so it doesnt seem very possible.The Paw Prints story line takes place in the same universe as Daytona and Castaways, so magic does exist, but it isnt something the general population would be expected to have access to. Hopefully it isnt considered a spoiler, but to someone who unlocks the full ending story for this game and Castaways, theyll see that theres a good reason why none of these people have had access to magic.Mayana, Ill add a way to disable all sounds.Thanks for answering Tablens question Mayana. Daigonite, may I suggest an alteration on how the coordinates are being used?By playing the pokemon Crystal with the PCA scripts I found it alot easier to be able to scroll back and forward between the various options of places. Having another key to repeate the selected location would make things even better.Let me give an example. We could use s to check our current coordinates as it is right now, d for scrolling back through the list and g for scrolling forward. A key like f could be used to speak the current selected location and have the coordinates spoken again. What do you guys think?Best regards, Haramir.

True, but there are other people who saw the sounds in the temp folder. Probably this kid was just playing ultra power and wondering why it was downloading loads of stuff and he saw what itw as downloading. I dont think it was right of him to post a link to the proof of the content though. Still, it does prove that the security flaw is real. Like yourself John, Im not from a legal background, however, I know that to use a product one must, with out question, agree to its licence file and any copyright laws upon that product.Second let me clear up a little misconception Im a little confused about and I will go over the licence because of this because if ive not made it clear then that is an error on my part.Guys, the licence in know way is staking claim to soundRTS. It is in know way saying Nathan TEch owns soundRTS or any of the mods or sounds in it accept, the starwars mod.With the executable I can see where the confusion comes a little, and I admit Ive not personally used the soundRTS installable, Ive always used the zip. Like you john Im not sure of the licence of soundRTS and so was unable to include such a file in the agreement part of the installer.Now, dont get me wrong, I want Nathan Tech to be as open with our customers as we can but to be frankly blunt, first bradley has know right to reveal that information as that is company information secondly you have no proof to go on that says were not licencing these sound files impropperly. Sound files can come from anywhere guys. Like bradley said youtube, sound libraries, or the public domain are ones i can think of off the top of my head.But guys remember, Im a game developer, so I actually, funnily enough, have sound libraries that are made for game developers. I do actually look into the copyright of sounds and was in fact on the phone tod

I actually agree with this one, though I dont know how easy or hard it would be to implement. Its a bit frustrating to listen through all the possible exits in, say, Rock Tunnel, when Im in the middle and just want to know the one relevant to me. And every time I press d, every single thing is listed out and I have to sit through that list several times over just to listen out for one place.

Not really related to Chromevox itself, but I personally hate the Google TTS voice. Speech-dispatcher support is still(!) broken in Chromium under Linux, and there didnt seem to be a way to change the voice at all on my Chromebook. Espeak would have been much better, and Im surprised Google doesnt offer that as an option. Also it just seemed to me to be less efficient than something like Orca or NVDA on Windows. I dont want to define the direction Im going with every quick navigation key even if it only takes the press of one extra key each time, Id rather just use shift as a modifier to go in reverse. Similarly navigation was a pain; if I wanted to navigate by character or word, Id have to adjust the granularity and then set it back to continue reading normally, a real pain if youre looking for something specific or having to check spellings frequently. Yeah, you can customize keyboard shortcuts, but with practically eve
 ry conceivable key combination assigned to something it didnt seem worth the trouble. I recall it being glitchy on Chrome OS and sometimes failing to read things like the time or date when the keystroke was pressed, and it just seemed a bit sluggish overall. Also way, way too much verbiage and no obvious way to tone it down. The earcons were cute and I really tried to get into them, but they seemed more superfluous than actually useful. I like the unobtrusive beep System Access uses for links, and I think all sound schemes for screen readers should follow that example, rather than playing a loud sound and announcing the element at the same time as the default behavior. In short, I want to interact quickly and efficiently with the web page, not the screen reader, and while having the page loaded in a virtual buffer might seem to contradict that statement, I think theres a reason so many people like the navigation scheme used by NVDA, Orca and JAWS (ugh): Inste
 ad of trying to cram as many functions as possible into one set of keys so as to eliminate the need for a focus/browse mode, you just use all the available keys. Its quick, and theres no need to hold down a two-key modifier or mess with a sticky/quicknav mode whenever you need to change interaction/navigation modes. Granted, some of this might be a personal learning curve thing, but Ive used Chromevox and OS X enough to think it could be otherwise; I wonder how efficiency compares between users of those systems and screen readers like NVDA and Orca. Danny, I am not sure if its fixed or not so disreguard if it is.But right now inderian station has some serious issues.the detection menu does not appear its only happening there.While steps work most of the time the doors dont sound.I havnt got on again for a couple days.And while once you have the required uunits and as long as you dont need the terminals on inderian which you dont once you have all the supplies and want to haul rocks or something, you can avoid landing on there, however since its a new player starting ariea well.I am happy we dont need another rewrite of the system because I am slowly getting up there.

the lack of browse mode/focus mode/whatever you may want to call it is one of my favorite things about chromevox and its also why I like the fact that voice over, chromevox, narrator, etc, have a chromevox/voiceover/whatever keystroke. This way you never have to worry about whether your key presses are being sent to the application youre interacting with. You know they are always being sent to the application unless you are holding down that key combination or have sticky keys/quick nav/whatever turned on. Also, Ive never messed with a chromebook before. Im just using chrome with the chromevox extension always active. Its pretty much eliminated my need for orca, since everything else I do in a terminal with speakup.

Hi aprone. First time I post to any of your topics. Though I have a problem. In my locations menu I only see crash site, no other locations at all. I have lost my whole group of 10 of starvation because I couldnt find more food, and I couldnt travel to any place. I dont have a saved game file because I figured why would I save if I only can do the tasks at current site, then starve anyway?

Sadly, most of the blind either dont use a Chrome OS device on a regular bases, or they just do not wish to take the time to learn it.Even with the Flatt keyboard layout which in a way mimics other screen reader keyboard layouts, more closeer to the Window-Eyes one.Just like with Chrome OS, Chromevox aint for everyone.Comparing it to NVDA or any other screen reader for that matter, similarly to System Access, Narrator, and VoiceOver, there is no such thing, as a Browse/Focus/Forums mode to deal with.You must be one of the few who embraces Chromevox and/or Chrome to an extent, which is good!Also, just like with NVDA and VoiceOver, you are able to filter down the links and headings within their respective lists as well, by typing in a letter or words.Ah, and I cant forget one of the big things...Math ML was added to Chromevox back in 2013.

Ive noticed a few bugs on my difficult playthrough.In 17-2, if you destroy the security cart before it spots you in the final room, you cant complete the level as the event doesnt trigger.This one has been around for a while, but if youve destroyed all enemies in a skyracer battle stage (18-3 for example), it takes a while for the next stage to open. Therefore you will end up turning around a few times before it lets you continue.Sometimes the menu sound in the tab menu completely stops playing. Im not entirely sure what triggers it though.Itd be cool if you could prevent key presses being sent to bk3 when the focus is not on the game window.I sometimes get an error message after dying. Its no big deal but I thought Id mention it.On 24-3, I didnt move then moved the camera downwards which resulted in an error. Im wondering if its checking a tile outside of the map boundary somehow.<

HAHA, oooh, shame on me. I didnt saw this option for traveling back.@Aprone: Have you thought about bringing in radomly generated jobs for the people? For example an architect could build up a better camp or a doctor could tread two sounds with one bandage. A cook could make fryed meat with food and fire. I dont know if mages exist in this universe but they would be very helpfull to. Oooh or a bard could tell storys and sing songs for higher the moral. or a priest could bury the corpses without getting sad. A hunter could try to go for hunting and is also good for killing wolfes. HAHA, or a vampire would not get hungry so often but if he is hungry he would have to bite someone. But vampires are very strong and could travel very long for maybe getting strongly needed supplies.And you could teach children or teenagers in those jobs. That would bring in an interesting strategy.For example. A doctor with a broken leg who will die soon could teach someone else in his 
 doctor skills.OK, enough of my stupid ideas of jobs.I think i found another bug. Sometimes people cant pick up anything. If i hit enter, nothing happens.Oh and one last question.If someone got two blankets. will he use two or only one?

Firefly, if someone has 2 blankets he/she Will use boath. I once had a person with 2 coats but he seamed to use just one so @Aprone can people use more than 1 coat or cant they?Curently if you want game with Jobs castaways has something not exactly the same but still somehow simelar. If we added Jobs in this game I cant imagin how diferent it would be. But even if Jobs get added Im against mages or vampires because I like realisem of this game.I cant wait for the new sounds, but I hope you Will have an option to turn them off if you wanted. I was not being strict. Im a massage therapist by trade and a professional what i saw on this sgame was not professional in my opinion and i felt the need to express myselfhere. Theirs nothing funner than you leaping off platforms in a side scrolling environment than doing that, and using guns to blow a persons brains out whos trying to blow yours out at the same time. Hmmm. interesting. Didnt know I could give description of my ship... Anyway, I have a wormhole transport console installed in my control room. Someone sent this to me via the in game mail. I would, at the vary least move it to a different room. I wouldnt mind a different cullar that fits in with the cullar skeam, but at the vary least, I would like to move it. I tried unbolting it, and got the following message. You shouldnt go around unbolting things that do not belong to you! LOL. I would think that I would beable to remove stuff from my own ship at the vary least. I had to go earlyer or I would had weighted for someone to see to it... Anyway, does ownership of something not change when that something is sent through the in game mail?

Hi Aprone!Very very nice idea and very very nice game so far!I think maybe it would be better to change the menusystem to a more roleplaying characteristic one. I mean that you can choose your people by pressing 1 to 0 and select everything possible from this screen.Hotkeys would also be very usefull to check your different status stuff. Hunger, cold, feelings, i for a inventorymenu. T for a tasks menu. Another thing: I think it would be nice if you could travel your way back to the camp. Maybe someone finds some splints or a bandage later so he can travel back to save poor poor timmy with his broken leg. Oh my god, this game is such a big drmaaa! HAHA, oh hey, could you bring in something like a history-screen at the end where you can read the sad story of your people? How the survived and died?Keep up this cool nice work! I love it!

@sanslash, if the old server was not crashing, I wouldnt be rewriting in the firstplace. Thats why im focusing on the old server so I can avoid having to rewrite. And in grate news, my efferts payed off! Dmnb should now be a lot more stable, according to the error log that ive got here, only 4 crashes happened, and they were all suitable ones I can fix! I dont know why but I like this menus for some reasen. I like this tipe of playing much, much more than castaways.Firefly, you can already travel back to crashsite if you want to. You just select a person and set him/her to travel back to crashsite.

I already saw this game on Tuesday and grabbed a copy but I dont understand even how to get the people to different locations than the crash site, because to me there is only the 1 place, and if my food runs out, my people die of starvation, so, again like castaways, I find this game too difficult at the moment.

Now that weve settled this, things should be ok now. I was thinking Terminator could get a warning about his misleading info see post6 where I posted that info he mentioned, but thats technically outa the mods jurrestiction, however the mods of klango have completely left the scene which is why its sadly turning into a maladjusted spam-fest, so no ones there to warn him of his misleading behavior, so, well Im not sure. The mods can handle this as they choose Im not telling anyone to do this or that, since really now that weve killed the flaw and settled the score, this topic is no longer needed, so if the mods decide to close this topic, then closed it shal be, with whatever the final statement is. AGain Dracoko be careful what you upload, and Id really suggest taking that file down, because that could possibly scare future players away from the game considering its had a pretty rough history as far as security. There are also some other places to park when you connect and disconnect.There are also quite a few places in the outdoors with campfires or firepits, with places to sit, play, socialize, etc. Some are easy to find, and some will take some wandering. These major social hangouts include places to lay down a tent or just a sleeping bag, but the campfires themselves are the best part of the hangout, and youd have to see one in the evening or night to appreciate it. There are usually unique things near each one, whether that is a rope to swing on to land in a pond, or rocks to climb down and do some spelunking into caves. Some might have natural hot springs, others might have trees to climb up into and hang out in the upper branches.Other areas are being developed which include more beach by the Sea, along with more wooded areas and even a fairly good sized m
 ansion, a bed and breakfast, of a sort.As always, wandering is a good thing, and you never know just what you will find.

Hello,patreonis a platform that allows people to pay each month for someone to produce content. Here is an example:For the game developer:You put up on Patreon that you would like to create an audiogame about evil frogs taking over the world. You post a link to different places and then people fund you different amounts. Each month you get what ever everyone said they would give to you to produce content.As a gamer:You see a cool project on Patreon and you would like to support it. You donate $1 a month to the developer and the developer delivers content.The great thing about this platform is that one is not selling their game, so you can use something like QT, FMod and any library that has an LGPL license.You arent getting a lot of money up-front, but you are getting a pretty steady paycheck each month if you have people who like what you are doing.With people here 
 not having very much money, I think they may be able to donate around $2 a month to a game they really like.That could be something like $40 a month for a smaller game. It is not a lot, but it is something!

Ive noticed a few bugs on my difficult playthrough.In 17-2, if you destroy the security cart before it spots you in the final room, you cant complete the level as the event doesnt trigger.This one has been around for a while, but if youve destroyed all enemies in a skyracer battle stage (18-3 for example), it takes a while for the next stage to open. Therefore you will end up turning around a few times before it lets you continue.Sometimes the menu sound in the tab menu completely stops playing. Im not entirely sure what triggers it though. Sometimes it also changes to the sound of menu movement in the collection items menu.Itd be cool if you could prevent key presses being sent to bk3 when the focus is not on the game window.I sometimes get an error message after dying. Its no big deal but I thought Id mention it.On 24-3, I didnt move then moved the camera downwards which resulted in an erro
 r. Im wondering if its checking a tile outside of the map boundary somehow.Im not sure if this is a bug or not, but if you demolish all enemies in a level and have summoned grand cruisers, the level wont end until you destroy the cruisers.If you use a weapon that can pull objects/enemies towards you such as the snake chain, you can do the same thing to doors.If you play the skyracer minnygame and leave the stage, your skyracers endurance is set to 3 and you have millions of each ammo for the weapon types.If you exit the bread crushing minnygame, your difficulty level is reset.Also could someone tell me what to do with that cat in 0-1? It is driving me crazy.
