Hi Karate25.I haven't tried because I have no idea how I would code it but I dn't think it's even likely to create a real-time browser game sending so much text at once I'm sure would cause your web browser to crash. Especially when you have to do a quick-time event you wouldn't be able to read and understand fast enough to complete something like that. There may be a way to modify firefox to catch enormous amounts of text but if I was inclined to create a browser game I probably wouldn't waste time modifying firefox, writing some sort of text-catching add-on, then after all that coding a game that may not come even close to working. Sounds discouraging I know sorry.But I can give you games that will at least have some of what you want. For windows there's all the smugglers games, castaways and the castaways 2 beta, lunimals, sengoku jidai (if it's still up). As for muds empiremud, wayfar, flux world, prometheus: the eternal wars
 , epitaph online, clok mud, and discworld(sometimes). If you have an iOs device star traders rpg is wonderful. Star traders 4x is not accessible so don't get that one. Star traders is similar to smugglers but better in my opinion. Also try king of dragon pass, solara, and some of the storm8 games.Well that's all if you enjoy these games they should keep you busy for a while.Hth.

As Guitarman said, real time  browser games don't really exist, simply because of being played in the browser. The best you will get are games with timers, like you set a building going and then have to wait x amount of time (usually minutes or hours), for it to finish, but I don't think those are what your looking for. Also note most empire building browser games are very heavily pvp anyway, indeed they're far more about bashing other players than about actually building things up. if you go to www.whitestick.co.uk you will find severl on the games to play online page, but I don't know if they're exactly what you want. I'd suggest either looking at some audiogames like park boss or castaways (or the new castaways 2 which is just being tested now). or looking at a couple of empire like muds like empiremud2.0 or wayfar1444, that have a similar theme. hth.

Well I've bought this and am finding it surprisingly good, i like the sfx and weerdness, albeit the guy in the future seems a bit inclined to panic and I don't really appreciate how snarky some of my answers are, I'll be interested to try more games like this though.Btw, interesting fact, the coding monkeys also produce a version of carcassonne? Carcassonne is a  very awesome tactical building board game, where you add tyles to an expenading board to make a medieval village, and get points according to what tyles you add. It's one of my brothers favourites, and if it were vo friendly, would be both a great boardgame, and perhaps people's answer to a building game too (especially with what coding monkeys say about solo play mode). I've sent them an e-mail asking about vo access, sinse really it'd just be a matter of coordinates and squares info like any tyle puzzle or sudoku type of game and I think people would love it, or at l
 east from my brother's description.

Hi Karate25.I don't know of any that aren't turn-based. Any text-based game like that will be turn-based because I don't think it's possible to have an empire game without it being turn-based. Mainstream games might do this but no others. It would be cool if someone tackled this but I don't think you could generate text fast enough to make an empire building game in real-time. Sorry I couldn't be more help there might be a real-time game that I don't know about since I don't really play browser games much.Hth.

Hey there everyone, karate25 here again. I've got a question about some browser-based empire building games. I'm looking for real time ones and not turn-based ones and they can be any type of empire building like futuristic or medieval just so long as they aren't turn based since I'm not trying to play a board game. I've tried one called illyriad and I can not even begin to figure that one out so believe me I've been looking around. Problems with changing my windows 7 system language

Hello folks,Eversince I use it's your plane, which requires English speech recognition, I am changing my system language to English, using Vistalizator. However, everytime I didn't use it for a longer time, I switched backward to German. I have a Windows 7 home 64 bit machine, and I am aware that it usually doesn't work changing the system language, once set. Vistalizator makes it possible to install other language packs, changing the language from there. It worked just the way it should, but after a larger windows update if I tried to change my system language to English, my computer wasn't able to reboot to initialize the language pack. Instead, there was a bluescreen. When I powered off my laptop to restart it, it came up with the system recovery options. I tried the starting help to repair issues that may have occured, but it always came up with "Could not repair this computer". I brought it to our electronic lab at our school, and after a c
 ouple of days they fixed the issue by pressing f8 on startup to get into the advanced booting options, selecting "boot from last known working configuration" or something like that, and my computer was able to boot again.Another work-around for me to change my display language was going into the registry editor, deleting the German RegKey, so only the English key was there. Of course I exported both keys, because it was the other way around as well when I switched back to German. Nevertheless, once the key was been deleted, you could restart your computer as always and it came up with English as the system language. But even that didn't work anymore, I got the same issue as with Vistalizator. Are there any suggestions on that? Or did anybody else already experience that issue as well?

Hay Yukio, more bugs.First, stage 16-3.I've found that; sometimes; items can appear on tiles 499 and 500.This is a problem as the player cannot go beyond 498 without triggering a cutsceen.also; twice now; I've gotten an item that appears that I can't get.It's in the playable area, but isn't takable, as it's at hight 2.The last time, and enimy died and made the sound like a fire stone, but I couldn't hit it.After going left to chace it, I found something that sounded like a minishooter at the end of the stage that wasn't their before, but I couldn't pick it up.Lastly, slimes can still jump to hight 2, and bees can fly their.Perhaps in 2.0 you could make non-jumping slimes and non-flying bees that only appear in that stage?My final bug deals with the final part of stage 25-5.It seems that when shooting the bio energy in the skyracer at the vary end of the game, it's co
 unding all kills as if they were being killed by the last weapon the player equipped; the weapon they used to kill the self-destructing bio.I know this because I used the spiret sword to kill the self-destructing bio, and during the skyracer portion, I heard the spiret sword level up.I checked it when I reloaded my game, and; sure enough; the spiret sword had leveled up.Later!

Moves that are using standard damage calculation are capped at the current HP of the opponent. So if they only have 16 HP left, they will take max 16 HP damage. Not all moves use this calculation so it might be a bit confusing but it doesn't really affect gameplay

Hi.Well I haven't done much for this month yet. I've been thinking about taking up gardening again, maybe growing strawberries and I'm not sure what else. I love gardening but where I live the heat is terrible in the summer. Years ago I had a peach tree and a strawberry plant and a few others. They all died during the summer as much as I tried to protect them they still died. It was cool when it was still springtime I was able to get a few strawberries and I even got some peaches to grow but the son killed them. Strawberries are one of my favorite snacks so I'm thinking of getting another strawberry plant. We have a lot of plants around the house but they usually die during summer or toward's the end of summer.I finished a great book the other day called the mercedes coffin by faye kellerman. It was good very twisty. I thought I knew where the ending was going and I got tricked lol. Now I'm reading the highway by C. J. Box. It's good 
 but I'm not liking it as much as I like his joe pickett series. I've been listening to a lot of rush lately (the band not the political dude) which has been a lot of fun.I haven't been drinking coffee lately which has put me in a weird mood lol. I'm going to my guitar lesson tomorrow to finish learning sweet home alabama. I think I've learned the whole thing and if I have I'll check out some new songs to learn. Like I said I've been listening to rush and I would like to learn their songs but their very complex. I tried to learn one of their songs limelight a few weeks ago but I couldn't get the parts exactly right so that didn't go so well lol.@Dark, thanks for the wheel of time reference in your first post I got a good laugh out of it lol. I really need to finish the series I like it a lot I just get tired of all the arguing and political games.

Hay Rachel.I haven't done a lot with the demo, but I can tell this wil be great once it's all done.I really like how the music can change depending on the oras in battle.A few things I've noticed.The exit code is just as buggy as in braillemon; at least on xp.I used the system menu to exit until the version with the exit option gets released.At least the good news regarding this is once you figure out what's causing the exit bug, it can be fixed in both games.also, when I go to attack an enimy, the game says test before I can move the menu choice.I think I'll wait on more bug reports until more gets added.Edit; I found a weird bug with the party menu.I go to the main menu after getting killed and ending up wherever you go after you die.I entered the main menu and pressed q then W and got some color stats.I then pressed E and got this.___

Oh I completely forgot about sound stuff.  I have been able to deduct money spent on sound packs.I'm sure someone out there will be reading all of this talk about deductions and imagine the government gives you back all the money you spent on this stuff.  Lol, if only right?  You basically get to just subtract these things from the total profits you made before it gets totaled up as owed taxes, so it is far from free.  It's more like someone filling your backpack with rocks, and you get to take a few small stones out before carrying it around the block.

Aprone,I'm so sorry to hear about that tax mess. My wife and I got into a similar mess, albeit much smaller, this year with the IRS - some incorrect assumptions, and some things that weren't communicated well, and next thing you know, you owe a pretty penny. Sigh.That's so strange that you could deduct materials needed for the work you did to make the gear, but not the parts that actually went into it. I wonder why that is? I guess the former are "work-related expenses" whereas the latter are just considered part of the product?I'm trying to think of any situations like that from a development side of things. Like, suppose you hire a sound designer, buy some sound packs, and buy some software to edit those sounds and put them in your game. Is the sound designer's pay deductible? The sound packs? The software? This is why tax professionals make the big bucks, I guess.

the people at the college were not very good at the time in my opinion. I guess there is lots of room for improvement especially since the unemployment rate among blind people is 75% or more. Also at college whenever I tried advocating for myself they always just gave excuses as to why they could not provide this or that. So I quit college, got married had a kid went to lions world and succeeded, sort of.

Also the TVI does not have a lot of time to spend preparing students for college maybe one or two hours per week. not a lot. even so I'm glad I got the education I got. It was quite helpful in getting my job with the national industries for the blind place even if it was ruined by outside sources.

Hi,In my opinion this site needs to evolve with the rest of the accessible gaming scene. I can’t say that I agree with the views of some of the people editing the game database. For example, Skullgirls I think really needs a database entry, because I find it a lot more playable than the new Smugglers games. Sure, if you have SuperNova, Smugglers works quite well. But with JAWS or NVDA it’s very difficult to play and I for one know what I found less frustrating. Is Steam a barrier? Yes, but it’s one that you can overcome, and there might be people willing to do so. Likewise, Pokemon Crystal, or more specifically Pokemon Crystal access should probably also get an entry because of the amount of work and heart that was put into the project. Also, I don’t think the news section is getting enough love. It’s quite surprising how much is going on that you only really get to find out if you follow either sites like Applevis, or the new releases section of the forum. People that come to this site while googling may end up missing on a lot of content as a result. Perhaps we need more database editors and news posters? People that, in addition to playing games made specifically for/by the blind, but also play games on Steam or consoles. And I’m not saying this because I think games like Mortal Kombat, Shank or Kungfu Strike should get entries, as they don’t have enough audio queues or reading menus. But if we get more games like Skullgirls, someone will need to play them and write reviews, someone who doesn’t mind having a Steam account.

Hello all,I've been having quite a lot of thought about this lately but definitely did not want to just go ahead and do this without feedback.The amount of audiogames on Steam is slowly increasing. Now, I know steam is not the most accessible of clients to use. It's not about adding every single game, either. It's about adding the games that are fully accessible, with screen reader support. It's the same with some browser games. Back in the day, this website also had a few games listed that were quite hard to get going properly, especially stuff like Demor and older games like Beautiful Ears. It also had a game for the xbox called In The Pit, and even a game I think for dreamcast called real sound kaise no regret.On Steam, so far we've got Skullgirls, Smuglers, and a bunch of text-based games from Choice of Games. This is not about adding Mortal Kombat, Naruto, or anything like that to the list, it's strictly about adding accessible 
 Steam games. Grail to the Thief and A Blind Legend are another two.It might even be as easy adding Steam just as a platform to some of the game list, like ChoiceofGames.This will be for screen reader friendly games, the latest version of Skullgirls, for isntance, actually has tolk library support which means jaws, super nova, window eyes and NVDA will work.Grail to the Thief and A Blind Legend are also fully accessible games.

No there is yet another choice. I could only choose jobs offered by national industries for the blind. That is how I got the job in Louisiana I looked on the national industries for the blind website. And I successfully found a job until the opportunity was ruined by my wife's family. I applied for many mainstream jobs before sometimes I got interviewed, but they never called back and never were intrested in hiring me. I think my best bet will be the national industries for the blind places.

So because you had your hand held in high school, you think you should be entitled to have your hand held in college. Remind me again why you think you'll survive professionally? the rules for employment are exactly the same, with perhaps very small differences, as the rules for postsecondary education. You are going to be given material. that material is probably not going to be by default adapted to you, particularly if you don't speak up in advance and say you require it that way. You don't get a TVI in college, and you certainly don't get an equivalent if you ever actually land a job. That you're not capable of surviving without one is the fault of the TVI you had for not actually teaching you how to function as a visually impaired person. Your choices now are to learn how or make the best of what you've got. If I were you, I'd choose that first one.

but i did not get myself that far. through elementary middle and high school i did the work. but i had a vision  teacher who 1. transcribed braille to print. 2. prepared all my books so when i got to class i could focus on the work. 3. made sure all work was accessible and in an accessible format ahead of time. they did not teach me how to do this on my own. not really. when i went to college i spent hours and hours scanning books into the computer. foreign language books as spanish was my major and hoping the machine scanned it right. and then after putting forth a huge effort to try and make the stuff accessible. i had to sit down and read it. oh and if the computer misrecognises text? oh well too bad. you fail. now lets contrast that with sighted folks. they go to college. no scanning for hours and hours. they pick up their books and read them. If I ever go back to college I will study to be a teacher of the visually impaired. then in my classes i will be surrounded with f
 olks who can help me out and who will gain experience from helping to make stuff accessible if needed. I wish there were TVI's in colleges for blind folks. scanning books for hours and hours back in 2002. not fun. and it burnt me out and after that I did not feel like doing the work because I had just spent hours and hours doing my best to put the work in a somewhat accessible format. When I go to school I want to focus on doing the work and passing. I do not want to worry about is this accessible? or is it not accessible? how will I make this or that material accessible? No let that to the TVI. 4 year universities do have disabilities office. But there is no standard among them. I did my best work at Lions world services for the Blind. Everything was pre-made and accessible. No scanning. No figuring out how to make this or that accessible before I did the work. And as a result I focused only on doing the classwork and passed with excellent grades.

I had a job handling end user tech support for Dell back in 2006 before the economy world-wide decided to hit the dirt. Dell, being a US company and a tech company to boot, knew it was about to be rocked hardcore, so took my job and several others and sent them overseas in 2008. I was still hugely qualified, and people were still calling me for interviews, but the economy was on its way down and everyone knew it. I stopped getting callbacks in 2011 or 2012. Not because I stopped being qualified, but because the economy as a whole was at rock bottom then and just about no one who didn't absolutely need to fill a hole was hiring. My last interview was in 2012, and I knew it wasn't going anywhere before I made it back outside. My blindness had nothing to do with it. So in 2013, I started the process to send me back to school - where I'm starting my final semester in a computer systems tech program in September. Throughout that process, I learned a few things very quick
 ly.thing the first, and related specificly to part of what I think the OP was hinting at: If you don't use it, you *will* lose it. A+ certifications in particular are changing. The A+ cert I go for, assuming I decide to take that route and not the CCNA route, is not the same certification you took 5 or 6 years ago. If you don't renew it every I think it's 3 years, then you are no longer certified and companies will prefer people who are over you whether you're blind or not. It doesn't matter if you can swap out a hard drive in 15 seconds and not leave anything out of place. If it's not on paper, you might as well not have the ability. I can run a Linux server with the best of them, and have on my own personal time for years. but because I haven't done it professionally, and have nothing on paper that says I'm qualified to do it, I can't walk into a job interview and tell them I'm a Linux admin if I expect it to actually get me
  anywhere. There's an _expression_ we used to use when I was doing the tech support thing. Documentation or it didn't happen. If you call me and say someone did this, this, this and this for you, I'm going to take a look at their documentation. If the person you're talking about didn't put down that they did this, this, this and this for you, then so far as I'm concerned no they didn't. People in HR use the same mentality. If you're going to say you're A+ certified, expect them to want a copy of the certification. If you say you're a Microsoft Windows engineer, expect them to call Microsoft. And if you say you're a qualified Linux admin, expect them to want phone numbers, email addresses and the like for just about every person you've installed, fixed or ran a Linux server for - after you've explained to them what the hell Linux is.Thing the second: Colleges are not there to make you succeed. They're there to
  give you the option. One of my professors put it best my first day in this program. "I get paid," he said, "whether you show up and do the work or not. You can choose to slack off, miss every second class, half-ass the work and probably end up taking it next semester, or you can show up, ask for help, show me you know what you're doing, and rock the course. The choice is yours, Make the right one and I can help you. Make the wrong one and you're on your own. Also I'll see you next semester." To me, that pretty much summarizes college life in general. You're expected by the time you get there to be able to stand on your own two feet, relatively and proverbially speaking. By the time you've graduated high school, you know the kind of education supports that work for you. The college or university isn't going to hold your hand and guide you through the process. You got yourself this far, get yourself the rest of the way and we'll

If you need books in an accessible format (be they electronic or, god forbid, braille), it's up to you to say so. Your college/university has got to have something that vaguely resembles a disability services department. Get on them. Hay Rachel.I haven't done a lot with the demo, but I can tell this wil be great once it's all done.I really like how the music can change depending on the oras in battle.A few things I've noticed.The exit code is just as buggy as in braillemon; at least on xp.I used the system menu to exit until the version with the exit option gets released.At least the good news regarding this is once you figure out what's causing the exit bug, it can be fixed in both games.also, when I go to attack an enimy, the game says test before I can move the menu choice.I think I'll wait on more bug reports until more gets added.This does look promising, and I'll support you through the ks once it's up.Later!

Yes, I decided to change the subject to a more general one in the off topic forum because I strayed into topics such as food, and other things. Also I find the Tubio app with the ShinePlus screen reader on android works good and lets me airplay stuff using my blu energy x 8mp camera phone to my apple tv. I can airplay web videos and local videos as well. It's fun.

Good news indeed.I still wonder though, am I right when I say that the damage calculation system is currently glitchy under certain conditions, or does it only happens to me for some reason.I understood that the damage calculation was redone in this release so you can't drain an excessive amount of health from a severely weakened pokemon, but I am the only one saying it's somewhat glitchy, so I wonder what I should do. I downloaded back the test version when it's package was complete, but the behaviour was still the same.

Joseph you're right about the yearly profits changing.  It can mess someone up quite a bit if they aren't expecting it.  The way I have my gamer accounts set up, people aren't really renewing them every year.  There is that extra "free" month, people don't get charged for months they don't play, and most people bought in the later half of that first year.  What ended up happening was that almost everyone bought their accounts in year 1, then didn't have to renew until the beginning of year 3 (this year)... skipping that second year entirely.  I should have seen that coming, but I also didn't quite know how all this tax stuff worked at the time either.  I found myself starting year 2 with thousands in taxes to pay off, a crazy $700 bill every 3 months, and basically no side money coming in from the business anymore.  Needless to say, I barely pay my bills before all that so I was totally and utterly scr
 ewed.  It will probably be a few years before I dig myself out of the hole I put myself in with that, haha!    Live and learn.

Joseph, yes once you are registered as an LLC you can deduct business expenses.  For me, I have been able to deduct new parts for my server (as they've worn out due to being under load 24/7).  I get to deduct a sizable percentage of my internet bill (based on the data the server is using each day).  I believe it averaged out to 1.1 gigs of bandwidth per day when I last did my taxes!  To make things easier (and I suggest others doing this if they will ever run a permanent server for their company, and they're able to do this) I set up a small room in my home that basically only houses the server.  Because of this, I am allowed to deduct from my home insurance (I believe), electric bill, and heating/cooling costs for a small percentage.  By being in its own room, that room is considered my work space and the square footage of the room out of the square footage of my house determines the percentage of those bills I can deduct.  These thing
 s don't really add up to much, but they do help.Since I write my own software, I've never had the need to try and deduct any.  Depending on the business, I suppose someone might be able to deduct specific software they had to purchase, be it sound editing tools or something along those lines.When I was building the See Munkeys, I was not able to deduct the various parts that went into the product, but I was able to deduct materials used up during their construction.  For example, soldering iron tips and solder.  I'm not entirely sure if it was helping or hurting my tax return, but I remember being required to list how much total value in un-sold products I had left at the end of the year.  So if you end up dealing with physical items for your business, keep track of everything.

@slj, how far have you got in the game? I'm also stuck at the part where i must guide a bomb fruit.Also, i heard that starting from chapter 1 the game starts to become unplayable, because you will have to do complex platforming.

I read and write braille and I would use it every day. Personally in the united states at least I think there should be laws in place and people to make sure such laws are enforced. I am talking about laws which prohibit families from sheltering their blind children as if they are two-year-olds for their whole lives. Sheltering a child does absolutely nothing for them. I'm not sheltered but the person I married I found out too little too late had been extremely sheltered. When her family tried sheltering me and treating me like a mental patient I resisted and fought them by going to school and getting more education. They did not like that so they used the law and courts to kick me out of their lives and out of my wife's life. So I lost the only job I could have
  had. I am so happy that my 9 year old son is sighted and can see. He will be able to get whatever job he wants. He will be able to have a good life. I take very good care of him and he gets excellent grades in school. He is very smart. He is also unique because he gets to see an example of a blind person who is not sheltered... That is me... And an example of how not to raise blind people... And An example of continual extreme sheltering... His Mom's family who continually shelter and baby her... I provide the best example I can. I fix computers for $20 or $30 here and there once in awhile for people around town. I also fix his and mine when they break. I wish trains and busses ran through this town like they did 60 or 70 years ago. That way I could get to the two major cities in my county. I would have lots more to do then. I am confident I will be able to save up the $500 for the orbit reader20. I am putting $60 or so away each month. One or two months I will be able to put 
 $200 or so in the braille display fund envelope. I look forward to having a durable braille display that will be affordable. Perhaps somehow it will also lead to a good paying job and to gainful employment.
