Re: SoundRTS and the CrazyMod (update 8.3 and 9 beta10)

True. The robots, orcs and dark elves seem to be the weakest races, and probably need a boost. The elementals would probably be impossible to balance with the rest, so maybe they need to be taken out entirely. I remember pragma once mentioned removing their units and giving the separate elementals to different races, which might be a good idea.

Re: SoundRTS, a real-time strategy audio game

We may have found a bug. Harming effects appear not to do any damage. For example, the magnetic fields of the robots or thunder bolts of the orcs do not harm any units on the same square. Another thing, the ability to cast something on an adjacent square does not seem like it works the way it used to, as units now have to walk closer to the adjacent square to cast. This is fine for units, but some buildings that have abilities with nearby as the target can't reach adjacent squares. This is especially an issue for the vermin race that depend on generating stumps on adjacent squares to spread. Many of the buildings can't create stumps on the adjacent squares, which makes it harder to get buildings in other squares.

Re: Monopoly Planet Audio Sphere Advanced Monopoly Game

I'm afraid I had absolutely no luck with this. I downloaded and unzipped the folder and stuck it in my downloads. I then unzipped the monopoly.zip folder and hit enter on the exe file. Music started up and the screen went black. I started narrator and switched to NvdA and there was absoluytely nothing, just music playing. if I hit enter I got a coin like sound, but I couldn't use the arrows or anything else, or even hit escape or alt f4, the screne was just plane black, and narrator didn't say anything. When I switched to NvdA exactly the same thing happened, I've tried three times now and each time I had to quit the program with the task manager. I'm using the 64 bit version of windows 10 latest version.it sounds like there is a serious issue with the screen reader output here, meaning none of the game text is read. I would strongly suggest you look at implementing direct Sapi output to the game, therefore if the screen reader doesn't work there is always an alternative and people don't end up entirely stuck. I would also suggest you implement either hitting escape or alt f4 to exit the program, since just having that circus music playing was getting a bit freaky . Sorry to be so critical, I'm sure the game will be fun when it is in working order.

Re: The Blind Comunity

2018-12-12 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : Dark via Audiogames-reflector

Re: The Blind Comunity

I agree with Drums here about relationships, universities  and guide dogs. I'll also note that problems for men specifically with finding relationships and being accepted in university environments are not specific to blind people either, particularly since I'm afraid in all of the minority based identity boosting that's going on at the moment blindness tends to get completely forgotten. As regards relationships specifically, I'll also note that specifically looking for relationships "within the blind community" is no better prejudice wise than looking outside it. My lady happens to be blind, this was not a requirement of either mine or hers for a partner, things just worked out that way.As regards universities and employment, the problem ultimately has nothing to do with education specifically so much as the fact that employers have  no knowledge of, or insentive to employ blind people anyway, university qualifications or not, and that at the moment prejudice can go unnoticed. Sadly though the solution to this is a social, not technological one.~As for the blind community getting bothered about so called "little things" Well would you have said that black people in 1950's America who were not allowed to ride on busses or eat in the same restaurants as white people were being concerned about little things?" I think not. Again, this is fairly simple prejudice. There isn't however really a solution since unfortunately the public perception of "disability" is so tied to either being in a wheel chair or autism blindness never gets a look in, that when disability prejudice is mentioned at all, which is increasingly less common these days given that promotion of minority interest has turned from something positive into a much more major focus on pure misandry. To get onto a happier subject. I'm afraid I don't really see the arguement that guide dogs are "purely social"  or that what they do could be replaced by technology. Firstly, yes, guide dogs do find there way around obstacles. Could you do this with a cane? Well of course you could, however which is easier, simply having your dog look around instantly see a way through given obstacles ahead and follow along, or having to concentrate, recalculate, reassess and perform all those logical operations necessary with a cane. This is also not to speak of crowds, where a guide dog will revel in the challenge of weaving in and out between a huge number of people in situations where using a cane would be dire. The energy factor and difference is staggering. Secondly, finding places and things. One thing to remember, is that a guide dog is a thinking and logical creature and can perform the same sort of category judgements that a human can. For example, the word "seat" can apply  to a massive category of objects, from  a garden bench to a plush arm chair. When a sighted person sees a "seat" their indirect perception autoamtically performs operations to see if the base characteristics of that object fulfill the properties of objects within the category "seat" this sort of snap judgement and assessment is bloody hard to program into an Ai, even if you could have a camera to perform it. Yet a guide dog has the same capacity to learn this sort of judgement as a human can. Not just seats, doors, counters in shops, exits , bus stops, road crossings,  post boxes etc.Furthermore, a guide dog will understand where you are going and go there without need to correct. You need to "know" where your going yes, but you don't need to constantly monitor every tiny little thing, indeed learning routes with a guide dog is far easier than with a cane because while your not having to constantly look out for obstacles, pedestrians, your  relative to  traffic etc, which then leaves your over all mental capacity free  learn landmarks and turnings, or look at a satnav or whatever.Lastly, while, as I've said a guide dog is massively useful for mobility in ways that go far beyond a long cane, don't under estimate the social or companionship element, since yes, sighted people often would rather interact with a blind person's dog than a blind person, which is inconvenient and annoying, but its a fact of life, and if a guide dog can help you get over the "wh! he's blind" syndrome and finally approach that moment when people actually start thinking of you as a human being, all the better. Oh, and if you are stuck on your own, well at least you've always got someone to talk to, particularly since dogs are largely much nicer company than most people .is a guide dog for everyone? Certainly, not, there are definite down sides, not the least is having to constantly take care of a dog, carry food with you, worry about where your dog will spend, never get a lie in due to having to get up with your dog etc. There are also people who are just not themselves dog people, and don't get on as well with  which is fair enough. However, I would always say if a person could! possibl

Hi, Sure, Any and all kinds of help whatever you are willing to offer is welcome. be it financial, coding some sort of a download section for people or a simple webpage which people can use or anything at all, such as getting new tv shows or right now We are comparing jeffs page and the bmmv to see what jeffs page doesn't have and bmmv does and saving that to our accounts. Letters T to Z are done, Sid I believe is doing R, A to C are done, D is in progress so rest are left hop on and do whatever and who ever can. I have a pro for 30 days or so, can and probably will extend it, those shows that I have saved and others send me will be either downloaded to the server I have in mind and the rest of the stuff on jeffs page as well over time or to my hdd first if finances are limited and then to the server. Do you guys think 1tb or 2 tb for this will be enough? on a dedicated server, I mean. The allowance is 1tb 2tb bandwidth as well.back to work, see you in a few hours.Grryf.

First, examine everything there if you haven't yet, so Sam can get the suit. You wouldn't want to kill her while changing pressure, would you? After that, go to room control. I think you have to set the input mode to manual. Then just enter a number, like, say, -30, and see what happens. You should be able to figure it out after that; just put in numbers, first bigger, then smaller, until you get them to the same number. Please note that if you put in a negative number that's too big, it will say that the door is unlocked, but the number will keep moving after that. So pay attention to the numbers! Good luck!

Re: The Blind Comunity

Post secondary institutions seem to lack the information and materials to offer proper courses for the blind in a variety of fields. There's no central database or resource for them to tap into, and I've seen some studies around that highlight how siloed universities are from each other, so what ends up happening is they roll their own local solutions in obscurity. This ends up holding back progress because you get a patchwork knowledge base and limited opportunities. I mean, with how hot things like 3D printers and machine learning are, you'd think there would be more accessible tools and interfaces for the blind to work with them right? Or robotics? Drones? Genetic Engineering? No? Nothing? Accessibility typically comes after the fact, which all but ensures that whatever is the cutting edge will be out of reach. Whats needed is the right tools so that people don't have to wait to participate in these things, but take the lead, to employ themselves and push the envelope. If those tools and techniques don't exist and nododies making them, then we should make them ourselves with the full intent of kicking those fields ass.@ChrisThe open source [After-Sight Model 1] closely matches the kind of device you describe. Its a portable raspi based device that utilizes a vOICe style sonifier combined with object and facial recognition systems, the projects stalled out unfortunately, but i've been digging more into it lately. Alternatively there's also the Vision-800 smart glasses that go for around 190$, someone in russia loaded The vOICe on it and out performed a pair of Argus 2 retinal implant recipients in an accessible technology competition. There's some more information on it on [seeingwithsound.com].

An accessible Xbox game has been found

http://herbi.org/Sa11ytaire/sa11ytaire.htm Click this link to visit the developers web page. This is a version of solitaire that supports narrator on the Xbox. I have seen it in action. The game is not spelled as solitaire though. It is spelled as Sa11ytaire.  I just realize I should probably tell how I found this game. So I was bored with nothing to do. So, I pulled out the Xbox app on my phone and started searching for stuff. I put narrator into the search field, and this game came up. Then, I managed to track down the URL for the website, where I was able to find a description of the game, a list of controls, and a link to a demonstration on YouTube of playing this game with narrator. If people would like, I could post the link to the video as well

Re: Braillemon status update!

If you're on Silph Co, how did you get past the S. S. Anne? The unstable version gives me a code error when I enter the captain's room so I tried coppying my save to the stable version, but the stable version doesn't recognize it as in their is no load game option in the main menu. If I play and get past the S. S. Anne on the stable version, it only works until the Cinabar gym, then you have to copy your save to the unstable version. Just to see what happens, I started a new game on the stable version and coppyed my save to the unstable version, and the unstable version didn't recognize that my save was their. The file I coppyed was called SaveGameaaa.enc. Does anyone know how to make the game recognize save files?

That's quite odd, especially since Python 2 will be reaching EOL within a very short time. If you want some convincing arguments, check out https://hackaday.com/2018/08/15/stop-us … -python-3. I've stated many reasons why not to use Python 2 before, and there probably is a performance gain here and there. I'd love to know what "boilerplate" you speak of, though; I've been programming with Python 3 for a few years and have never had to write unnecessary boilerplate (unless I'm writing apps like web/rest APIs or games, for instance). Really though, the "extra boilerplate" argument doesn't really work, since you have to write boilerplate in every language to do complex things.

They should save, in theory. If you didn't have the ring after 25-3 and you're sure you picked it up, it had to have triggered. That, or you've experienced some sort of saving bug I've never heard of before. To be honest, that's pretty much what I expected and/or was hoping for, lol was people would use the camera, instead of having to write like every single detail in there. Re: braille me, low cost display now for sale

Interesting, was searching for an evaluation of both of these, and this thread was one of the first Google hits.I'm thinking I'll go with the Orbit. Looks like the dot quality might be better, and while I'd miss the routing buttons a bit, I think I'd rather have the extra dots for capitalization and cursor indication.Out of curiosity, do either of these support some sort of continuous scroll functionality, where the Braille scrolls automatically at a set rate as you read? I'm mainly interested in getting a display to read books with, and I imagine that automatic scrolling would make reading much nicer.Or is it really not a big deal to advance the cursor every 18 or 20 characters? Seems like I'd be advancing the cursor lots during a long reading session, and I'd want to automate that if possible. Most of my reading will likely be done in either device's standalone mode. If I'm on a bus or something, the last thing I'd want to do is have two devices open just to read a book. Thanks!

Re: Black Screen Gaming New BK3 Section

That's the structure I'm talking about. It would've been handy to note that you have to drop down twice per camera. i.e., the very first drop will not get you spotted, nor the third, nor the fifth, but only even-numbered drops will do it. The camera tells you this - thus I figured it out on my own - but just trying to run through alternating drops like you said, I had a little difficulty first. The issue here is merely that on stuff that's finicky, I like a little more detail than you're giving. You didn't do anything wrong, not at all. I just thought it a mite vague, especially given that it's a guide and has been read presumably to get you through the level.I've never actually bothered using shields much in the bio-control system fight. I just get close, hammer it with the spear, jump the bio ripper occasionally, try and keep away from zapping things, and it dies pretty fast. I can never seem to avoid destroying the recovery ring, and it seems like recovery rings don't save either, as I've gotten through 25.3 with the ring and somehow lost it without dying. Not quite sure how that works.

By parry, I mean use it just long enough to block the attack you need to block, and counterattack immediately.I'm not sure what else I could've said about the disk puzzle, lol because that's essentially what it is... hit them to swap the numbers around, get them in order based off what's on the paper.@jayde, Which part of 21-2 is it that you find vague? Meh, I do have an Android device but it has a fair amount of lag. I want to try this game though, and it's free, so maybe I'll get my tablet up and running and give it a go.Personally I'm not too offended by "the blind has to go save the day" theme. We're still in that "you're such an inspiration" phase with a lot of sighted people, so I guess if they want to make audio games they are more apt to come up with such a storyline. Maybe i"d be more offended/annoyed if I cared about storyline, but most of the time I don't really. I am most interested in whether I enjoy the action and atmosphere of the game, and I admit I'm pretty easy to impress. From what little I've read here, it sounds like I'll be dealing with some bugs/laggy response, plus the lag on the audio system of my tablet... In any case I guess I'll see what comes of it.

Re: The Blind Comunity

1. Can't comment. I'm gay,, and to be blunt, I avoid most of the blind community like the plague. I have my own small (ish) circle of friends and mostly acquaintances. Most of the blind relationships fail because (1) Sleepovers on team talk. (2) Not communicating in a long distance relationship and (3) Most importantly, not meeting in person.2. College is not the end all. In 2018, it's be at the right place at the right time if you're blind, expect to have many misconceptions about you and work to fix them.3. These days, I'd take a dog over a kid. Most guide dogs are cleaner, more well mannered, and enjoyable to be around than most of these little brats who deserve nothing more than a good old smack on the bottom. Or maybe the parents should be the ones to blame. Still, though. I'm old school and think a kid on an iPad at the age of 4 is simply stupid. The kid doesn't want to play outside when there are things to be shot and blood spilling while he isn't even out of diapers yet right? That's extreme, but while we're on issues of that naturethis is why so many these days are depressed. Get outside. Enjoy the sunshine. Learn a few things that don't have to do with University or college - learn some labor skills. I know blind people that  do woodwork and carpentry. Work on cars. If you have an interest in something, go after it. Try and get some experience with it, even if it's just as a hobby. Nothing is stopping you.Sure, GPS would be amazing. There are so many smart devices around these days. Who knows what they do? Where the information goes? Hell, in chrome and firefox alone there are minuscule packets of data going to all sorts of various places. Your smart tv, smart speaker, smart coffee maker, smart plugs and anything related to that transmit data all over the place to make your life easier. What happens if that got intercepted and used for bad things? Sure, there are doubtlessly tons of backup plans, but with a guide dog, (which I do not currently work with), the dog is always there. It has nothing to do with social interaction and has everything to do with getting to the destination more efficiently and quickly. With aira, I'm still relying on the internet, but it's an actual human. This is what is wrong with our society today - everyone wants AI for this, AI for that. There goes even more jobs down the drain for folks. Getting a job? With the reliance on anything but human interaction, how can we actually get a job this way when it comes time for a face to face interview with a human being? What happens when that AI goes down? So many parents of blind children just shove a computer in their hand and want them out of their lives. That's no way to learn social skills and by the time the child grows up, that's all they know.

Tell people what you have to do when all assists are turned on.Then, turn one of the assists off and show what the difference is and how you compensate losing that assist. If that's down, turn off the next assist and do the same thing as before.I have to be honest, I still need to learn what traction and stability do anyway and how they impact the racing feel, I haven't played the game in a fiew months and I always had basically all assists on, I didn't really have the time to experiment with the game, accept the tuning part, which also failed.Greetings Moritz. All done.I did it similar - took the wagoneer onto LE MANS OLD MULSANNE, which has a nice long straightaway to show a few things off. In regards to traction and stability control, I took the 1971 Plymouth GTX fast and furious edition out on the track, as it is very nearly impossible to control with both off. I then turned traction control to on and then super easy and repeated this with stability.I also demonstrated how the game is just barely not really sort of playable if you disable auto breaking and super easy steering. I didn't go too much into damage because that really isn't useful in terms of lap times. You can find that tutorial/demo  here:http://anyaudio.net/listen?audio=ilAvp27PbUbj7I did a little playing around with tuning, but that is for a completely different discussion as it mainly impacts freeplay and multiplayer races.I forgot to mention this, but in the bowling showcase, I ended up turning steering to simply assisted so I could drift better the first time I did it and I completely forgot about that when I was demonstrating it, so that failed epically.

Hi.Could be your firewall blocking it, your on win10, head over to control panel / windows firewall or something like that, and make sure stw has access. Not sure how it works on other versions of windows. If that doesn’t work, chances are your router might blocking it. Instructions on how to fix that vary depending on what router you have, however if all else fails, remember there’s always vpn. Hope it helps.

I've never found a convincing argument to dump Python 2. Ever. So, if people are comfortable with Iron Python or Python 2, they shouldn't be told to switch to Python 3 "just because."

Re: tatus of Perilous hearts

Adventure at C: is nothing like Perilous Hearts. Perilous Hearts has things that aren't found in other audio games. The AI is the most advanced I've ever come across and it was one of the first audio games to include platforming. At this point, I don't care about the original story which was rather corny and dry. The game could become a really great Jungle exploration/survival game with all kinds of puzzles, tasks, and traps.I don't think we're ever going to see this project reach completion. Philip Bennefall stated four years ago that he was putting the project on hold because he ran out of money. I also imagine his new job takes up most of his time. I have tried emailing him asking if he would consider starting a Kickstarter campaign. I would be willing to throw quite a lot of money into it and would recommend everyone I know to do the same. However, I haven't received a response. I sent an email to his Blastbay address and I know it went through as I didn't get a bounce email. He either read it and doesn't care, or he no longer monitors that address. There's also the possibility of selling the project to someone else who would maintain and improve it such as Liam, but it appears there's no way of contacting him and he may not be willing or even care to do that. In that case, don't tell people about a great project you're working on only to abandon it. It's cruel! I do agree that it's a damn shame. It's okay to cancel projects like this or really great TV shows, but if you even think about canceling Football or Basketball, you'd better watch out! The backlash would be incredible! A project like this with lots of strategic game play would be far more interesting than mindless sports.Listen to this. Re: The Blind Comunity

A cane won't get you from point a to point b either, although if you do the route often enough, the dog will know where you are intending to go. My house is on the middle of the block with no tactile landmarks around it, and I taught my dog to target the driveway. Navigation is faster than with a cane, at least for me, because I don't need to find everything around me. She can find empty chairs, garbage cans, doors, stairs, curbs, we're working on finding my wife's car, and we just zip through crowds like they're nothing.I took the train and went down to the city for a class several months ago, and all I did was tell my dog to find the door outside. I hadn't been to that train station in ten years, so while I have the vaguest idea of where I needed to go, I just told the dog, and away we went. Two minutes later, we found the door outside.Guidedogs aren't for everyone, and they come with their own set of challenges. For the most part, they make life easier in a lot of ways though, and I think on the whole, they are worth it in my particular case.

In Audacity, press control+p to open the preferences window. In the list, select devices. Now set the host to Windows WASAPI. Now select your playback device under recording and select the output device for sound playback in the next combo box. As I said earlier, you will need to send your microphone audio through your default playback device using the listen feature if you want to record your microphone along with the audio.

I would be willing to throw quite a lot of money into it and recommending everyone I know to do the same. owever, I haven't received a response. There's also the possibility of him selling the project to someone else like Liam, but it appears there's no way of contacting him. I do agree that it's a damn shame. It's okay to cancel projects like this or really great TV shows, but if you even think about canceling Football or Basketball, you'd better watch out! The backlash would be incredible!

depends, d&d 5e? what's allowed, how experienced is your group, that one doesn't matter as much, but I find it more appealing to play with more experienced players. Will you not accept me cause i'm 13? I promise I'm more mature then most 13 year olds on the site! but seriously, skype's probably not the best idea, but it would work, I'd like to join as long as it doesn't conflict with my other game.

Re: The Blind Comunity

College is unfortunately something that's being shoved down everyone's throats. College is not the be all end all solution for absolutely everyone. I have no plans on attending an actual College. I'm in the process of obtaining CompTIA IT certifications which should hopefully get me into the industry assuming I can get past all the misconceptions.I'm actually curious to know what's so great about guide dogs? Maybe it's just because I'm not a dog fan, but I've never understood what was so great about them. Sure, they can help you avoid certain obstacles, but the dog won't get you from point a to point b without you knowing where you're going. The dog won't tell you what's around you in great detail. Is it simply a case of people wanting a dog that also acts as a guide, a method of gaining attention from others, or both? I'd really like to know. Personally, I think it would be much more valuable if we invested in some kind of super advanced GPS and object recognition system that would provide us with detailed information from the environment around us. Imagine having something that could tell you how far away and in what direction a door was. As you turned and got closer, this information would be updated accordingly. I'm imagining something like AIRA but without the human element and using the much more accurate Galileo GPS and/or indoor navigation. It would essentially fill the gap we currently have of not being able to glance around and quickly learn what's in our immediate environment that everyone else takes for granted. As for the lonely part, I'm not sure. Maybe it's because in a lot of ways we aren't fully equal to our peers. We can't fully participate with them in things like video games and other aspects of society.
