Re: Code 7 - Episodes 2 & 3 Out Now

It's a bit since I've done this, but I remember you don't need the inner while loop. The level is three times the exact same pattern. My solution was (maybe) while (no wall ahead) {    goForward    goForward    turnRight    goForward    turnLeft}

Re: preserving the BMMV TV shows

Hi, miki123211, good idea but here is what I'd suggest. Have people search on the vault first for the thing they want. If its not there, they write up request in that file, and if we or one of you guys has it, you could then get it to me via uploading to some filehosts and I upload it to the vault. This way, If others in the future want something they can grab it off the vault as well.@LordLuceus chilling adventures part 1 has been uploaded as we had it already. Most of us thought it was on the vault which  apprantly it wasn't lol, but if in the future you'd like to contribute something the vault doesn't have, the best way is to upload the file to a filehost and get it to me via forum email, or pm if you aren't comfortable with email.Defender, Its not an ebooks or an audiobook website, yes, but usability and compatibility is important. You do make a good point that those few megabites can mean to be something when we are talking about terrabite worths of data here, but it wouldn't really amount to much, not enough to offset the loss of access to people on IOS for example and the example I talked about. There are quite a few people that I know aren't that good with computers that all they know is to open website press enter on download and go and open it, even that they learn through someone teaching them.. Things like getting the correct software installing it and trying to uncompress the file although whilst it may appear to be easy as 1 2 3 to us, wouldn't be so easy for them. Either way, for now, we stick to .zip format.and is 7z really supported natively by windows as .zip files are? I am on 10, and I had to install 7zip.@lightningdragon As  poppop66151 said, That is already up on the vault and has been for a while@ryok, thank you mate. Off to upload even more stuff to the website. Expect some down time soonish though, server moving and the like should happen in a few days.Grryf

Re: Very Strange Computer Issue

Disable the JAWS Screen Shade or Narrator developer mode features. If these features are on, your screen will be black to anyone looking at it. Turning off your screen reader(s) should also get rid of the black screen if it's caused by the screen reader.Make sure your brightness is set to something besides 0. If that doesn't work, It's very possible that your display burned out or has many dead pixels. If it's a laptop, you're most likely out of luck, unless there's a way to replace the display.Have you tried connecting an external display device to your computer via HDMI, VGA, DVI, or whatever video connector your computer uses? If video works on the external display, your graphics card is working which means it's most likely a problem with your LCD.If you can't afford to have it fixed, you can probably carry on normally and wirelessly cast your screen to a projector when you need help. The screen reader doesn't care if you have a display device connected since it gets all its information from the operating system directly.

Very Strange Computer Issue

Hello. I am having a strange issue with my computer. Everything functions, but the screen is totally black to anyone who attempts to see it, unless they have a flash light, and only then can they see it faintly. The microsoft support people did everything they could think of, changing the graphics settings on apps, changing the theme, the background, everything. No changes. They said it might be an LCD problem.There are no bumps or cracks in the screen as far as I have seen. I am a college student, and sometimes I need sighted assistance to check if a paper is formatted correctly. Does anyone here believe it to be an LCD issue, or does anyone have a fix for this?Thanks.

All the other bull shit like the Quadratic formula, and 99% of Geometry is lost.My problem is most people don't need that, so why waste years and years teaching it in school? Oh, I know! We have to keep all these Algebra and Geometry teachers employed, so it's not acceptable for students to just "drop out" if they don't like it and move onto something else, because then people would be out of jobs! We can't have that! The public education system is worthless!Anyway, now that my rant is over, I will say go for it if you truly think it will help you. If you don't care and know that 99% of what you're learning won't be applicable to the real world, just take the courses to pass. You'll be done with it soon enough. Oh, and ask your teachers for extra help. Their job is to help you, so they're going to have to spend the extra time and effort to assist you if you're not grasping it because of a lack of functioning eyeballs. Of course, if people *actually* wanted to learn this, they might put in a little more effort?

Re: Accessible Sound Design by Ebon Sky Studios - Second Lesson Up

@177You really did some great work here. The EQing is excellent as is the fading in and out, as well as the layering.I think your impact and your flavour sounds are too similar, and while they're EQ'd perfectly to bring out the real colour of the sounds, the EQing on them is exactly the same. The ear can't really tell the difference between impact and flavour and it doesn't sound "zappy" enough to me. You EQ'd a nice bump in the lows of the impact but the sound doesn't have any lows to bring up - if this were something like an earth spell, I'd say add a thump in there but electricity doesn't necessarily have that punchy boom in it, so you made a good call there. I had a play with it and added on a lightning sound, slightly lower volume with a somewhat long fadein and out. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ph4t95s9cxnyi … 2.wav?dl=1What do you think of that? I think your sound was 80% there but your choice of impact and flavour was too similar. If you want to further experiment with what I did, here's a really amazing electricity sound that I used there. https://freesound.org/people/Halleck/sounds/19486/

Hi,Unfortunatly I don't know the reason for this, but my sense of direction and spacial memmory is really bad. I think the episodes of sudden hearing loss I suffered did stuff to my hearing,  so I  cannot rely too much on echolocation for navigation. Not active echolocation at least.

@166Sounds great, the underwater and radio filters are perfect. I see you added a pitch modification for fun, sounds good as long as it was on purpose!Optimisation is good - it's not a strong enough effect though. Try moving your second band from 2,500Hz to 4,000Hz and raising the DB just slightly. The band width is perfect. Also you'll notice - I still have quite a few plosive sounds that are causing a problem. You can take care of this by moving band 1 up just 20Hz. Band 1 is almost perfect and if I didn't purposefully hit those P sounds so hard, it would've been fine, but experiment with just moving it a tiny bit to see if it has a difference. I will say, really tight optimisation going on. You are using a very light touch which is exactly what we're going for - a little bit goes a long way. It just needs a TINY bit more

I'm seeing all the controls in object nav, even the ones that aren't visible, so I get what you mean by that. If I'm on one of these, the login field for example, then press Insert-8, I hear "Desktop" and assume I've moved up a level to the desktop. Where do I need to be to launch the recognizer?

Re: Accessible Sound Design - First Lesson Up, Interaction Ending 13/4

@169 I'm really glad you said that - that's exactly what we want to accomplish here.I respect that a lot of you have a working knowledge of this stuff so you can tinker and achieve what you want.What I want to achieve for you is that you can be sitting on your couch, building a sound effect in your head, thinking "Okay I need a blunt weapon attack. That will start with a short whooshy swing, maybe with a bit of the mids raised 3db or so and the highs nice and swishy, and for an impact I'll find or record punching a ham, maybe even with a very short bass drum sweetener with all the highs EQ'd out, and I might also add a nice snapping celery stalk that I record or find online, with lots of crunchy transients to simulate bone breaking. I might even find a nice squishing fruit sound, like a tomato, to add to give it just a tiny bit more authenticity. I'll compress everything on the impact sound with a sharp knee and parallel compression filter and EQ as needed."The better you get at this stuff the more of the work is done in your head, as opposed to tweaking and discovering. It will soon switch from discovery to planning and executing.

ImpactThe sound of the spell hitting the target3. FlavourThe type of spell - ice, fire, wind, lightning, whateverSo you need to search freesounds for one good, usable sound from each category then line them up with , and . using three different tracks and layering the sounds on top of each other. Does that make any more sense?

@2, actually, high school level math is used quite a bit subconciously by you, and if your going to be making games of any kind your going to need algebraic math at least. The more math your learn to use, the more your brain will subconciously apply to your actions in the real world. If you ever go into graphics or other fields like that the math requirement only grows. Math, after all, is the language of the universe.As a resource for math, I'd highly recommend you use OpenStax (https://www.openstax.org). Their books are very good; I used them in my College algebra class as a supplement for the course textbook since it followed the course objectives and textbook pretty closely.

Re: Setting up Komplete Kontrol M32

I was able to do it, it's kind of a pain. If you use NVDA with object navigation, it gives false information because it literally gives all controls, even the ones that aren't displayed. So, it falls to OCRing the screen which means you have to jump up a level and OCR from there... it's really meh. Oh and KK itself , Kontakt, etc, are inaccessible without the keyboard and run through komplete, which they will do out of the box, just don't try to run them standby. Well, you will have to run komplete kontrol standby, but don't figure on using it that way, you'll have to use OCR to see that it's scanning the library, but then once all that is done, leave it and run it as a VST in Reaper.

Setting up Komplete Kontrol M32

Hey folks,Picked one of these up recently and it arrives in a couple days. I'm reading up on how to set things up with Reaper, but the big challenge so far seems to be Native Access.While I don't yet have a keyboard and serial number, I've set up my Native ID on the hardware registration page. Nothing I've done has logged me into Native Access, though. I've tried both NVDA and Narrator.Is there some winning screen reader combo that works with this thing, or should I just borrow a set of eyeballs? I know (or suspect?) that things should be accessible once I've completed this initial setup step, but I'm hoping there's some way I can do it on my own, as it seems like there's a point where I'll have to download several GB of samples, and I'm not sure I can get help for that entire time.Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I've read Native Instruments' accessibility guide and have found the ReKontrol driver for Reaper, but the sticking point really does seem to be this inaccessible Native Access mess.Thanks.

Re: Help with maths

I don't think so. Math is already difficult enough for blind people, and most online resources rely heavily on graphs and other visual elements. Why we're all made to go through this bullshit when in reality, nothing but basic math will be needed or even practical in the real world. It's not like there will be tactile diagrams everywhere. Ugh!My sugggestion is to ask the people who are teaching this to help you out a little more. The next best thing would be finding someone on the Internet who's good at explaining things. Try looking up Khan Academy on YouTUbe. The person who does most of those videos does a decent job at explaining things verbally.

Hi.For reference, I am playing the steam version of the game.I seam to have two peculiar and strange problems.Firstly an audio issue, the game is really quiet. I checked the settings for audio, music and the like, but they are all at 100 percent.Second issue regards the characters, I went through the roster in classic towers, but characters like Cassy, Kotal, Ggerris or even Shao Kahn, whom I have preordered are just missing and are nowwhere to be found, from the 25 characters announced at launch I only seam to have 12 or so.Do I still need to unlock some?Greetings Moritz.

Re: what exactly are incremental games?

2019-04-23 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — General Game Discussion : Dark via Audiogames-reflector

Re: what exactly are incremental games?

@Dardar, for me there are several main attractions to an incremental game. The first and one of the most major as people have said, is exploration and seeing what comes next. I've always loved games that give me something new to explore, and I've always been more inclined to work to get it. If in an incremental game I know there is just one other level of  or one awesome challenge, or one new type of unit or game mechanic around the corner if I can just  enough resources, especially in games that have an ascension mechanic, and even more especially if the pace of your new discoveries is just fast enough to make you keep going, and yet slow enough to not feel too easy. Trimps is exceptional for this, since in trimps your  always breaking new ground as your trimps fight their way onwards.Another related point is progress. You know that point in an rpg where your getting completely sick of grinding the same monsters over and over again to level up, but your not strong enough to move onwards and it just seems your standing still? Well simply because of the nature of an incremental game you can always guarantee that you'll get there in the  especially in those games that manage to balance incremental increase with player actions so  your essentially always shortening the period of time until you progress. For example, in a straight stratogy or rpg, if I see I need a certain amount of something to progress and I know it will take me a given time to get  there will always be a static time. For example, if I need another thousand xp to level up and do soemthing else interesting but each battle is taking me about a minute of rl time, for ten xp, then I  just how long I'll be stuck at the grindstone. Well not in an incremental game. Yes, it might say that I need six thousand iron to buy that next forge and I'm currently just getting one per second, however, if I can also be using my food supply to recruit more miners and put up the amount of ore I'm getting each second, well that thousand units might not take so long after all, partiuclarly since in most incremental games the increments will go on increasing even when your not playing, though of course you usually will get on faster if your  buildings and managing things by hand.That is another thing about incremental games, your never completely stuck, you  generally always progress somehow, though of course the more complex the game and the more things you need to manage to keep going the more you can affect the rate of your progression. Oh, that's another point, since in an incremetal game, there are always judgements to be made things to be bought, things you can do to progress, its like the most addictive sort of rpg levelling bought down to its basic components, especially seeing you go from humble to humungus over time.Trimps is definitely the best and most addictive incremental game I've played, but it does take a while of getting used to, especially the way it combines an incremental increase and building management with equipping what is effectively an army and going through basic battles. Trips however isn't the only good incremental game out there, some others I'd recommend include shark game, space company and civ clicker. though I will say I don't think I've found a game that has cought my attention quite so completely as trimps has for a significant while, or one with a developer so very committed to accessibility.

Re: keeping pets and training them

In July 2016, when my brother came from work, he opened the backseat door of his car and took out a gorgeous little pooch. It was a dog, (dachshund) one month old. It was so cute and lovely, and playful. My mum had never liked dogs and fell into depression when my brother brought ours home as she had been viciously bitten by a big shepherd dog when she was younger. Whenever my mum would angrily say to the dog: sit, stay, stop, go away, come to eat, the dog would funnily enough respond with the right action. He had not received any training before . . . perhaps by looking at the body language and the posture of my mum he thought it would be better to respond with something, as God knew what could happen. As the dog grew, he would day after day get closer to us; even to my mum who disliked him. All my family loved him, including my mum. The dog wouldn't let her go away anywhere without taking him. We trained him to be a little guarddog and most of the time when we'd go out, he had to stay at home. He would always cry when we closed the gate.Anyway, now that he's almost three years old, it seems like he understands our language. He can expect and understand when the food will come, he can understand whether we have a kandy and we're going to throw it to him, he can understand when my mum has cooked his favourite meal for him, he can understand when we are going to go out, and so on.I'm not sure, however, if he understands that I'm blind or different from others in the way I interact with him. It's important that he comes to me when I call him. He is a stress reliever; everytime I finish studying or simply after a long university day, I go to play with him and I feel relaxed. Now that I've gone to Germany, I miss him so much. Everytime  I sense a dog on the street, I wanna grab and play with it. I found a student here who owns a dog and she gives it to me for like three to four hours on every Monday haha.

Re: Forza7 question

Hi there,No problem, that is understandable. What sets the thing apart for me, is that in the audiogames community, we don't have this kind of racing games. The driving can be just as simple with you braking and accelerating, and let the ai make the turns for you. But when you play around with the game some more. You'll discover that the first mentioned option is nead, but when you want to drive more effective. You have to steer as well, for example, when i am just braking and accelerating, most times, i just will be pushing against the rear bumper of my opponent ahead of me. When you steer as well, you can accelerate past your opponent easier. Also, when the ai makes the turns for you, they're ok, but can be better, that's why i use the audio and the habtic feedback of my controller to get to know on where the turn goes, and assist the ai, this results in making far quicker turns then when the ai does it for me. I did start with relaying on the ai completely, but right now, i use the ai as a basic, and i steer as much as i can. I don't relay on the ai only anymore.I for example own mariokart 8 deluxe for the switch as well, but i relay more on the driver assists in that game then i do in forza. Cause the audio in forza is far richer then it is in mario kart. I use the audio of my opponents to know on where the track goes, but in forza i use not only the audio, but as said, also the habtic feedback. For me, it is very immersive, and quite addicting. Cause when i relayed on the ai completely, i got the feeling that i was just following the track, but i discovered the steering, and that i in fact had a lot of freedam into deciding on how to steer. My win ratio increased slightly My appologeis if this post sounds a bit random, but i hope it will be useful anyway. If you have anymore questions, just ask Greetz mike

book series recommendation, young wizards series

I've seen a lot of topics like this, so now my turn. I want to recommend a book series most people probably haven't heard of. It's called the young wizards series by Diane Duane. If you like Harry Potter, which I don't, you will probably like these. The series contains 10 full-length books, beginning with So You Want to Be a Wizard, and currently ending with Games Wizards Play. Another one is supposed to be in the works. Those who don't like Harry Potter could get into these because they make sense. The characters seem more like real people, with regular lives and regular problems. The wizard business has some scientific elements, so you can learn a few things while you're at it. These books do involve aliens, but unlike most books with aliens, these ones are actually cool, and in some cases, funny. www.bookshare.org has the entire series. They are good-sized books, so you will not be bored. Give them a chance and see what you think.

man I thought I'd never say this, but I am kinda disappointed in the decisions made in the audio department of MK 11. First, in game play sounds are unbalanced. Dashing can't even be heard while trying to space out your opponent like in MKX or MK9.Second, they should've implemented a screen reader like MindCraft or The Division 2 in order to be able to read the rest of the menus that Price didn't or was not able to read. Customization is totally not accessible. However, I see that people are gathering all the information for everyone else to follow suit. That's awesome.My only hope now is to talk to them directly as I will be at Combo Breaker in Chicago. Yes, they have the WB accessibility page, but I rather discuss with them in person about these concerns.Overall, I think MK 11 is a great game, but competitors like myself will have difficulty with the audio this time around.

Re: Items, maps, and saving?

Ah, saving usually consists of much more than just the players state, it also has to consist of the overall games state and the players position in it. So any change in the maps state, change in items location or existence, event trigger states, or NPC positions should all be stored to return the game to its current state at the point of saving. In the case of my first example, you would have to save the players inventory and position, and the maps array, since it stores the items positions and existence. You wouldn't have to save the list of items because its a static reference list of what items can exist, not what does exist in the map data. The second example is quite similar in that you'd need to save the players position and inventory, along with the maps item list, then restore those values when reloading to keep the games state consistent across saves.Good points to save this data are either on exit or manually saving, although there can also be periodic auto saving in some games. You shouldn't do it every time the player picks something up, as it becomes overly redundant and process intensive.Here's a few changes to the second example with a save and load system:import pickle

def save():
f = open('save.txt','w')
#create a new list for all our data to save
data = ""
f.write(pickle.dumps(data))
f.close()

def load():
f = open('save.txt', 'r')
box = pickle.loads(f.read())
#load state from save file
u.items = box[0]
u.xy = box[1]
m.items = box[2]
f.close()

class _map(object):
def __init__(self):
self.items = [['juice',0,0],['herring',23,89],['moose',54,32]]

class _user(object):
def __init__(self):
self.items = []
self.xy = [23,89]

m = _map()
u = _user()

load()
##save()

removed = 0
for a in range(0,len(m.items),1):
#if player is in same coordinates as item
if u.xy[0] == m.items[a-removed][1] and u.xy[1] == m.items[a-removed][2]:
#pick up item from map
u.items.append(m.items.pop(a-removed))
removed += 1

Re: discord

I'm looking through it now, I added a comment, I'll read the rest of the comments there. The one thing I will say is that posting with a heavy accusatory tone and swearing is not the way to talk to developers. If you pulled that little trick with someone working on their own project, i.e. an indie developer, you'd either get no response, or get told to fuck off most likely. I know it's frustrating, I ranted in here earlier, but the chances of Discord devs being in here are virtually nil. You really want to be putting your best foot forward when writing to developers about accessibility, or really anything. You need to be polite, and constructive in your feedback.For better or worse though, they are responding, I saw the one staff response, so that's good at least. I just hope in the future you keep that in mind because maybe it might turn other devs off to working on this and that would affect all of us, not just you.

The only way for the google safe browsing protections to stop preventing people from going to this site is for Mason to contest it. He should've gotten an email about it; let him deal with it.

Re: Strange ear problem that started this morning

HiJust a little while ago I was at a doctor known for his experience and skill in the city. It turned out that there were microbes that caused severe inflammation in my ears especially the right one. He gave me an antibiotic and some ear drops to cure the issue, and my treatment period will last for 5 days. I'll then go to him on Sunday and he'll clean my ears and check the eardrum.While I've paid a lot (and I mean a lot) for the medical check and medicines, I hope it'll be cured by this doctor which I hopefully expect since many people praise him.PS: what surprised me was that the doctor had told me with confidence that he's sure that I caught this microb from a swimming pool. Who knows, I don't recall but it might be.

So looks like we both had the same idea with that function. I tryed the same thing and the pitch just doesn't lower. It's weird. I'm not sure if me using the same sound pool object for everything has anything to do with it, but yeah.

Gaming on the mac

Hi everyone,from now on, all my new games aside for the upcoming balloon master game will now be in python. My question is this. If I add support for mac would any of you actually use them? Should I even try to port them to mac? I'm curious what the community thinks.

Re: Mortal Kombat 11

this is my review about the gamehttps://steamcommunity.com/id/DarkAlire … ed/976310/i didn't like the game as much as i liked mkx, the fights aren't as fast as mkx and the first 2 chapters of story weren't interesting, some of the voice actors sound like they weren't paid enough to do their job, and shao kahn, sounds like an idiot. nothing can be mkx's combat, and mk9's story mode. this is not what i was hoping for.the menu narration is in complete, i think wb only added the announcement of game modes just to look cool. the graphics are a downgrade, mkx's graphics were way better than mk11s, and you sometimes see the insides of your character in the krypt. this is a bug and i'm sure they'll fix it, but come on, fix your bugs before releasing the game and don't get us excited for nothing.
