Ah, glurk. Figures I was forgetting something. Odd because I looked at the setup process and I know I definitely didn't do that last time, so I wonder how I got it. But thanks.

Re: slay the spire now accessible!

So first I want to thank Wensber, Pitermach and everyone else whose work has made Slay the Spire accessible. It's a great game that's easy to lose a couple hours to without trying. With that said I'm running into a problem. I've been playing on my old laptop with no issues, but I just tried getting it set up on my new one, and the Mod the Spire window is for some reason completely inaccessible now. It doesn't read any of the buttons, and I can't get to the toggle all mods button. OCR isn't finding it either. I even tried loading it up on my old one, where it still works fine, and copying the number of tabs it takes to find that button and then to get back to the play button. No dice.Has anyone seen this happen? How do I fix it? As of right now I'm completely stonewalled on this laptop and cannot play on it.

Re: Manamon 2: Impressions Thread

I've heard sounds from audio games in commercials a couple of times. I've also heard the music for Manamon 2's desert used on the Daily Show as the background for a couple of their skits. The Byron theme is probably different though, since it's not so much background music and it's more a full song complete with lyrics. Whatever it is it isn't well-known enough for song identification apps to recognize it. Makes me think it's either just really obscure or it was commissioned specifically for the game.

@4255:It's probably not worth purchasing Manamon 1 at this point, unless you really want to complete your Manamon 2 Manapedia and have the Manamon 1 mythicals available to use. If you don't care about being able to use them, then you can just trade with someone who has them; even if they want them back, you'll have them listed as owned in your Manapedia. Manamon 2 just has so much more Manamon, move and equipment variety for playing through the game with, so it's just a more enjoyable experience unless you really want to experience 1's story. But 2 beats 1 in that aspect as well. You can't catch anything in the Tarboo fight. Even the regular ones that spawn.I do agree Manamon 1's price should probably come down a little now that there's a second game. Video games do that all the time, including Pokemon. Older games in the series go down in price when a newer one is released. Or at least that's what happened back when I had portable consoles and bought games. Eventually the price for the older games would go up again once they stopped being manufactured and became harder to find, but that was before the days of digital download, so that issue doesn't apply anymore. Failing a Manamon 1 price drop, I think offering 1 and 2 as a bundle at a small discount would be smart.

I've tried OCR on the computer itself with an emmulator many times, it almost never reads anything back to me, and when it does it's mangled beyond recognition. Seeing AI works a little better, but is still pretty inefficient. In the end it's faster for me to just use a save editing program to check things like stats and my items. PKX Delta is a fantastic program for generations 1-3, and Pokesav, while a little clunky, works for gen 4. I haven't found anything accessible for later games. This is all a lot easier to do with an emmulator.

Re: Alter Aeon: Multiclassing question

The thing about charisma being too low is a change. At least a couple of years old now, but might still be a change for you if your character is from before then. Raising it will fix that problem.make sure you learn parry, shield block and dodge to as high a percentage as you can. Putting combat points into them to boost them further might also not be a bad idea, now that most of the things that used to only improve with them can now improve with use.If your constitution is low, train it. It provides much-needed hp.I wouldn't bother recasting bless with that class build. At least not at the level you're currently at. Casting it on minions could be helpful, though.

Having 2 with a shared weakness is fine as long as you have 1, preferably 2 who are strong against that type. Autosun is strong against water. Sirenea is a good match too, because it resists it while hitting back with Shadow. Though, you'd actually have 3 weak to water if you add Gronk, because of Embird. That might be pushing it.Cofena doesn't get the strongest moves, but it isn't weak to much and has pretty decent stats everywhere.

Re: Manamon 2: Impressions Thread

I have to disagree with the Family Heart not being useful. It significantly improves the quality you can expect to get without tearing your hair out.If you're starting from something with crap stats, then yeah, don't attach it. Breed until you have a baby with 2 or 3 good stats where it counts. Attach the Family Heart to that and breed from it. Sure, you're likely to pull a bad stat, but there's also a good chance of getting the 2 good ones, plus any of the 3 not chosen could randomly be assigned a high number. Sooner or later you'll get something with 3 or 4 good stats. Now put the Family Heart on it instead, or at this point the Gene Emblem if you have it, and keep going until you get one you're happy with. It's a little pricy, but once you're done the main game, it's very easy to hit the Master Stadium for gold.I've bred plenty of mons with at least 5 stats at remarkable or better this way, and I know some people who strive for even higher and get it.

Rearmband does work with Erratic Battler. But you have to get down to -3 in each stat for it to kick in, so it's still hella detremental. I'd sooner use equipment that gets you the absolute most out of your first 2 turns. My vote is for Sluggug/Escargma. Escargma looks like an improvement over Sluggug but it's still a slow, defensive Flame type, so it's still fighting an uphill battle.

Pokemon games have been way too easy since gen 6, what with getting the Experience Share very early and it levelling your entire party. The level curve doesn't scale appropriately, so you very quickly outlevel everything. Granted Pokemon games were never that hard, but you at least had to grind a little if you skipped too many battles. Not anymore.Nevermind the difficulty though, the new move names in the Let's Go games just make me cringe. Buzzy Buzz? Baddy Bad? What the actual fuck is this?

Re: any tips for playing pokemon

I've seen a few people talking about wall sounds only playing once when you bump. Why, exactly, is that an issue? You bump, you hear the sound once, you know there's a wall there. You don't need to keep hearing the sound to know there's still a wall there. If you take a step and try that direction again, you'll get another bump sound.I've beaten the Master Rank contests in Emerald once. It's totally doable. It helps that berries are always arranged in their numeric order in your bag, and their numbers are something you can easily look up. So as long as you keep track of which berries you have, you can always find them. Berry blending isn't too bad either once you get the hang of how quickly it speeds up. Of course the berry blending master guy is always helpful for that. The hardest part is, again, getting the right nature, since there's no way to check that without reading.

EternityStudioSpoilersOnce you get the laser protection, you need to get to the cannon's left side and shoot yourself in that direction. Then do the same thing again with the next cannon. I can't remember if there's another one after that, but you'll know you're on the right path when you fly past a bunch of stuff and land in front of the door where the huge gauntlet of lasers is. Then it's just a matter of going left onto the conveyor belt, and it'll carry you through the rest. Just save before picking up the protection in case it runs out too soon, so you can try again.

Re: any tips for playing pokemon

I can't bring myself to agree with Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald being the most accessible, because of one word: Fishing. Thankfully they fixed that minigame in later games to have a sound. I think Platinum and HG/SS are the gold standard. Well Diamond and Pearl too, but why play D/P when Platinum exists? Unless you need a specific Pokemon from one of them, that is. Later games are playable, but have some barriers like has already been stated.I've beaten every game in the first 5 generations, though I needed to cheese that inaccessible gym in BW2 with a walk through walls code. I never got around to beating X or Y, and when I realized the soaring feature in ORAS needed to get a lot of Pokemon including many legendaries was inaccessible, I just lost all heart to continue playing. I was already losing enthusiasm because I no longer had sighted help readily available for breeding competitive teams, but that put the nail in the coffin for me. I still enjoy watching playthroughs and competitive matches though, and once in a while Showdown is fun to play.

Wavotamis and Sirenea are both pretty top tier IMO, Sirenea because it's fast and has a lot of coverage, Wavotamis because it only has one weakness, can tank hits, and hits pretty hard, plus the ability to lower opponents' speed. Holy goat unfortunately seems to fall into the category of good special moves of one type, good physical moves of the other type, which is unfortunate.Of course all the old water types are still around. Friggle actually learns more Electric moves this time around, as I rudely found out while grinding an electric type when it used Hypermagnet on me. Arctana is notably better this time, with good special moves of both its types, and unless the unknown gift has changed, you can get it early.

So actually its magic attack isn't higher than the rest at all, it's just higher than its physical strength. It could also get over 270 speed if fully trained, which is... faster than I originally thought. Might have to reconsider how I've trained mine. Oh well. Right, I am well and truly stumped. Has anybody ever had a Calculade transform into Blade Dodderator? No matter what I do, all I ever get is Brain.- I've transformed at least 15 individual Calculades (IE not the same one over and over), so it's not random chance, unless I have the weirdest, most lopsided luck ever heard of.- I tried equipping any blade, branch, plant themed equipment I could find.- I tried training the hell out of strength- I tried transforming in different areas- Both male and female have transformed into Brain, and I've encountered feral Blade and Brain each of both gendersAnd yeah I know I can catch a Blade Dodderator feral, but that doesn't lend itself to breeding for stat potential. Plus, now I'm just determinedly curious, dammit.

If you want something that isn't too hard to just pick up and use, and if you want to stick to new Manamon, Unicloud is a decent choice. If you want to show something off on stream that not many people have used you could try Ampanda, it sounds like it's not the best when compared to others, but if you just need an electric type to get you through the game it should serve you fine. If you want a bit more of a slow start for greater reward, Floreptile eventually turns into something nice. Lastly if you want lots of resistances, Vipesla is good, but I've heard it takes a while to learn good moves.Of course all the old ones are right there if you want to use them.

Re: Manamon 2: Impressions Thread

Generally, making strong points stronger is the way to go. If stats are more balanced, go with what moves the Manamon learns and what stats would best enable them to make use of the 5 moves you choose to keep. For example, Mortrex's stats are pretty well rounded, but it learns a lot of special attacks and disabling moves, plus it has very few weaknesses, so I go for a mix of magic attack and bulk. In terms of putting train points into health, it's almost always best to prioritize that over putting them into defenses, but there are exceptions, like if you plan to use a lot of draining moves.PostgameSpoilersHere's my procedure for quickly raising a mon to level 100:1. Attach a Master Scroll III2. With it in my party, I fight the 4 hyper bosses that are able to be rematched postgame. If you do a forum search you should be able to find a post listing which they are and where you can find them. EDIT: Or someone can post the list again while I'm typing this. That's cool too. 3. I battle the Master Stadium on original mode. By that point the mon(s) I'm raising is probably strong enough that it can take out some of the opponents by itself, but the main reason for doing it is to reset the hyper rematches so I can do them again. Then just repeat steps 2 and 3 until you're done. It should only take 2, maybe 3 cycles. The only real downside to doing this is that your Manamon won't get very many train points, so you'll have to either buy silver tonics or do a lot of boring fighting once it reaches level 100 to catch it up.I've got 3 Master Scroll 3rd editions, and can raise 3 Manamon up at once with this method. It's very efficient.

Yeah, it took me a few minutes to figure out what I was supposed to do with the picture thing, but once I noticed the movable things were in a different spot in the picture, it clicked. I also sat for a couple minutes at the flashback scene before realizing I could move. It's not just the fact there are no step sounds, but also because you can't access the menu with X. Those two things combined do give the impression that you're in a cutscene and just have to wait. Why it's so important for us not to be able to save there I have no idea. Or why we even have to walk in the first place.

No, there's just the one, unless there is another no one is found yet. This late, I doubt it.In terms of sending things against you that you haven't seen yet, the game doesn't know ahead of time what you'll have caught by then, or what you'll have transformed. So there's no reasonable way that could be done. Nor should it be, part of the game is looking at descriptions and observing behaviour to figure out what works, until you capture something. Granted that doesn't always work, I clearly remember avoiding using earth moves against Pegastorm and Chimerus my first time against Byron, because their descriptions clearly mentioned wings and I thought, "Ok, probably air type." But I figured out pretty quickly. There are 2 Manamon in the Master Stadium you can't have obtained when you get there - Placebot and Tarboo. You can listen to that song again, it plays every time you beat the Master Stadium. you just have the option of pressing enter to skip it if it's not your first time through.

Re: Manamon 2: Impressions Thread

Random question: Anyone know where I might be able to fight something that knows Sonic Force? Want to have it used against Banshreek so it can learn it via Record. It's got Attack Concerto right now, which is good, but he's less about speed and has solid magic defense, so I'd rather not have a move that lowers it.Banshreek isn't half bad, but definitely isn't top tier. Has solid magic attack and defense, everything else is decent. Gets Hone Mind for 2 stages of magic attack boosts, can have many different sound-type moves thanks to Record, and gets things like Shadow Sphere and Counterspell for coverage. Only thing it's missing is a special Ghost move. It's got some painful weaknesses though, and not being speedy means you gotta be careful what you send it against.

Re: tips for getting started with a hero's call

I'll add a couple other tips:Play as a mage, warrior or necromancer. Don't bother with the other 3, because your companions cover those classes utterly and completely. Mage is also covered by a companion, but you can diversify with that because there are 3 different ways to attune and each mage can only do one.All of the loot except for very specific, unique loot like the stuff mentioned above randomizes and respawns every time you enter the area. This includes shop inventory; it'll be different each time you enter Farhaven. Don't hesitate to make use of this and shamelessly stock up until you've got a full set of gear for each of your characters. As Jayde said, sell what you don't need for some gold. Many support skills and spells can be used before combat, meaning you don't need to take a turn in a fight to set it up. If you're having trouble, doing that can turn a tough fight into a rofl stomp.

Pretty sure he just meant turning off attack sounds. There's no way to disable Manamon cries, unless it's so hidden no one else has found it in a month. Or unless outside influence can do it.I said a while back that Lamgurk got new Earth moves but they're all special. Turns out I didn't level it enough, because it also gets Contained Quake. So I retract that statement. Also, this guy can get well over 300 attack and 400 health. Speed isn't great, but it does get Rev Up. With Crunch, Hammer Head and Stone Crash for coverage, plus Gravel Guard... Guys, this one actually looks pretty good now.The only new move Duskond seems to get is Shadow Sphere, which of course is special. Its special attack is actually pretty solid, but that's its only special move, so a special sweeper it is not. Stick to Sharpen with Slash and Scourge Tail or Nite Stick.

Re: Manamon 2: Impressions Thread

Those walking transformations take a while. I just slap a master Scroll on them and a couple others and level up against feral Manamon. I get steps, levels which also get some train points as opposed to just dragging them along to hyper fights, it helps my banked gold gain interest, and when they get to the appropriate level, I took my training to the rainforest and collected some Glarie Flowers while I did all that. Killing several birds with one stone, if you will.Frostond has beefy special attack, meh attack, above average defenses, and pretty reasonable speed (faster than Blazond and Duskond, not as fast as Elvond or Rythmond). Unfortunately its coverage, like this whole family, is pretty one-dimensional, and since it's special-based, Slash doesn't help it. Neither does Black Ice, which would offer some interesting coverage if it used it better. Still, if you need good ice damage, Frostond dishes it out fine.Speaking of Elvond, it's probably the worst of the bunch now. All these new moves, including things like Energy Pulse... and it gets none of them. It still relies on a 60 power move for STAB, and it doesn't even get perfect accuracy on it. I doubt even Miracle Adrenaline would allow that to sweep. Inner Healing is nice, or it would be on something a bit bulkier.

Still, if you need good ice damage, Frostond dishes it out fine.

Yeah, there's a Divinity Booster in the catacombs. Still, can't hurt to have 2 of them.425 defense and 423 magic defense is awesome until you see 217 health. I figure the Snow Defense ability also has a larger effect with higher raw defenses because these things usually multiply, but of course, it doesn't say how much the stat is boosted, and unlike other ways of modifying stats, the letter keys don't show the updated values when weather abilities are influencing them. Ah well, I can always change the TP distribution later.

Re: Manamon 2: Impressions Thread

Regarding training defenses versus health: I usually prioritize health, because it applies to both types of attacks. However there are some times when doing defenses might be better, for instance if you plan to rely on draining moves a lot, because that health you're regaining is a higher percentage of your total, and higher defenses means attacks against you will do less while you're draining the same amount you would anyway.I did make an exception today though, mostly because I wanted to see just how high a Rescumo with perfect defense could get it. 425, BTW. Too bad the health is low, and that Ice typing. Still, I want to try him at some point just to see what he can and can't do. He does have the ability to hit harder than you'd think though, because his speed isn't awful, it doubles in a snowstorm, and he learns Swift Slam. That doesn't make him a sweeper or anything though, not with 70 power standard damage.Personally, I rejiggered my Wavotamis to be purely physical, except for Mud Blast which I care about more for the speed dropping. I replaced Deluge with Gravel Guard, which I really want to try out because it reduces damage on 2 types of moves for 10 turns, and it doesn't go away when you switch, so team members can also benefit. Of course it all depends on how much damage reduction is actually happening.@Jayde: I can trade Manamon 1 mythicals to you if you like, once the server is back up. I'll want them back, so you won't be able to use them, but it'd get them in your Manapedia.

I'm not sure if that would work, because the stats fall silently instead of showing that they fell a stage. It probably has to be done that way, else the rearmband would just completely nullify it.EDIT: Uh... scratch that. The Rearmband does work on Erratic Battler stat drops. But it looks like it was also changed to actually require 3 drops to a single stat now, so you have to wait too long for it to kick in. Also means Full Moon Blessing is unsalvageable now.

@Jayde: What's different about battles now? I always thought the switching thing was intentional. Turns don't work the same way as in Pokemon. You select your action when it's actually your move, not at the beginning of a round. So if you go second and switch to something faster than your opponent, then the next round starts, now you have the faster mon so you go first. Did he make it so that artificially gives them another turn?

Re: Manamon: how are stats calculated?

Some Japanese wiki says the stat checker stuff ranges between either 0 and 40 or 1 and 40, forget what the lower limit was. Not sure how they got their information, or what the formula is for how they determine stats, but if it's like Pokemon then each point would be worth one stat point at level 100.You get 500 training points by level 100, and at level 100, 4 TP = 1 stat point. The unusual part of it is that it always rounds up. So 237 TP will get you the maximum boost of 60. If you max 2 stats, that leaves you with 26 spare points. Thanks to rounding up goodness, 25 can go into a third stat for 7 stat points, and the last lonely TP can go into a fourth stat to give it a 1-point boost.Pretty sure nobody but the coders know base stats.

Re: Manamon 2: Impressions Thread

For move affinity, how exactly would that work? Would this be done ahead of time, out of battle in the Manamon's move menu? Or at time of use each time? The latter would probably pose balance issues of its own especially for the more powerful moves, although I said way back in Manamon 1 that I'd love to see Elemental Breath, if nothing else, be able to do that. As it is it's way too much of a gamble. But if I could, say, tell it to be water each time I use it with Glimmeroto, then suddenly I have a coverage option for pesky Earth/Stone types who eat Electric and Dragon moves for breakfast. On that subject, why is it Water as opposed to Ice? I've never heard of a dragon breathing water. Haha.I wonder if it would just be easier to tweak the way double or more weakness is multiplied in general, rather than something complicated that only kicks in with dual-type moves. They're just a complete death sentence to anything that tries to be defensive.

Re: Manamon 2: Impressions Thread

It doesn't get Flame Blizzard. Just Torch and Terramagma.I just encountered something a little strange. I was fighting Master Dyaz, he phased to Air, so I used Omega Sandstorm, which is an Earth and Air move, and it didn't affect him. Firestorm and Hurricane, both dual-typed Air moves, work against him fine when he's phased to air. Why didn't Omega Sandstorm?

Heh, I  thought the text was what was supposed to be right, didn't think you actually intended to let us triple one of Placebot's stats. Whatever isn't raised is going to be pretty mediocre though, so I guess it might not be unbalanced.

2754: No, that doesn't happen again. You keep who you get.2755: At least one of your objects is in the wrong place. It might just be one square off. You hear a sound when they're in the right place. Make sure you didn't accidentally push one a space too far.

Re: Manamon 2: Impressions Thread

Loving the new equipment. Thanks, Aaron, for continuing to show some love to Manamon who need it. I do observe one problem though. Some of the Placebot equipment says it doubles a stat, but if you look at the effect, it actually triples it. Preeetty sure that's not what you intended.

Re: Manamon 2: Impressions Thread

I reset if a stone mythical I caught had less than reasonable in an important stat. It actually wasn't as painful as you might think, because Earth Nets are noticeably more effective on them, and only one had a move that could cause it to kill itself. No way in hell was I going to go through that with Hathorilian though. Not doing that forced boss fight before it more than once. Thankfully my Hathorilian actually rolled pretty good.

Re: Manamon 2: Impressions Thread

Oops, forgot about Pythor. Yeah, that's one that IMO still needs a lot of love. Electric/poison is just not a type that can get away with being slow. And relying on utility moves when it has as few resistances as it does is just begging to get killed. It's the exception this time around though, rather than a common occurance, so kudos to that.Huh. I thought I remembered leaving that room to reset that puzzle. But maybe I just saved first and reset my game instead. At least when you do find it, you should be able to push it back to the main area, because unlike normal stones, being up against a wall or in a corner isn't a barrier to moving them.

@Jayde: Haha, I did the exact same thing re: Family Heart. Thankfully someone was willing to trade me one to replace it. But yes, it does work.Huh. Now I'll have to start another game and look more closely at the shops, if there are instances of equipment inventory disappearing. If there is, sounds like it's probably not intentional. I could see something like Bone Daggers getting replaced by their obviously superior versions, but not something like a staff for holy attacks. Wonder if that's why I can't find Lightning Rod anywhere... EDIT: Huh. It's in the YGC Shop. I could've sworn that wasn't always the case. I know I'm not the only one who was having trouble finding it. Maybe it was added and labelled as a misc bug fix/improvement.

Re: Manamon 2: Impressions Thread

You might have to follow some walls around back to the south or something, and then go back north when you can. I really don't remember though. That place is pretty confusing. I missed both the tree and the house on my first visit to the swamp, thought it was just a side area with a few tamers and Manamon to catch. Haha. The house I missed because I didn't think to try going around to the left, because you enter the area going right and for some reason never realized that the swamp might wrap around the walkway.

Re: Manamon 2: Impressions Thread

I'm not sure what your criteria for useless is, but Manamon 2 has way, way fewer useless Manamon than the original did. I haven't played with all of them yet, but so far I haven't come across a single one that I've that I thought, "Ehh, this thing doesn't really have any redeeming qualities."

Re: Manamon 2: Impressions Thread

It tells you when you select the game console. Or you can check at the guy in the YGC shop.Someone said a few pages back that Calculade's transformation is gender-based. I can officially debunk this. I have a male and a female that both want to transform into Brain Dodderator. Not sure yet what the differing factor is, but it's not gender. It's also not attack vs. magic attack. I really hope it isn't just random. I always hated trying to deal with Wurmple in Pokemon for that reason.

Re: Manamon 2: Impressions Thread

Some spoilers@Jaide: Resister Advance is a Manapedia completion reward@Imaginatrix: I recommend getting your team a few more levels in the Master Stadium, or alternatively in the newly opened area behind it, where there are some strong feral Manamon to fight. Just don't try to fight the one tamer there, cause he'll destroy you and scatter your ashes all over the grass. Then, you should be strong enough to take on the rematches of the hyper bosses which become available after beating the Master Stadium. You can search to find out which these are. The good news is that they reappear every time you beat the Master Stadium, so if you run through them, beat the Master Stadium, and repeat a few times, you should be able to get your team levelled up in fairly short order and be able to take on the rest of what the postgame has to offer.

Re: Game idea for my next stream

I think you'll get different answers to that based on who is answering. I don't usually watch a lot of streams. I've caught bits of yours, but I've missed plenty of it too. I'm ok with that because I know the game, but if not, well that's what the archive is for. I think the schedule is good since it's in the evening my time, but I'm sure someone from Europe would have a different opinion. You can't satisfy everyone with something like this.
