Jinpachi in Tekken 5 for me, I had less trouble with him in Dark Resurrection. Also I never played Arcana Heart, for the most part because it's known for it's nightmarish bosses.

You are right. What's cool with Thornita is you can try to put the foe to sleep and set up, Limtoroom may be able to do it too but I don't remember. But yes Thornita should have Sludge hammer, or even Toxic branch for example. Sad we would have to wait for an hypothetic Manamon 3 for that kind of thing to actually happen, and even then it wouldn't be a sure thing.

@Jayde: I tried both Sullorb and Squarpha. From what I remember, Squarpha gets stuff like manatize, energy pulse and hydronova, isn't too squichy and has an ability which can be nice every so often.Sullorb is indeed not bad, but I'm not sure it gets anything else than Star Fall to use with manatize. It frustrated me enough that I eventually boxed it and replaced it. But I'm pretty sure it's fine enough otherwise to use it until the end.I already talked about Bombusect, I don't personally see it much as a special attacker even though it's ultimately not that bad at it.Also I quite liked Rumblebee if I can say so myself. Got a Waspunch with good stat potential over all, maxed out strength and then health as soon as possible, gave it root point and it's not that bad imo. Definitely not perfect, with a rather late sucker punch and I think too many special moves getting in the way. And perhaps it might benefit from something like aerial caper and some coverage against flying type, but I can't find anything realistic so far.Edit: I saw you talked about Squarpha and I even managed to forget that it gets Flood. Better than Hydronova indeeed.

@Jayde: As you were asking for a Manamon with Pollution Solution and Poison Pressure, Sansurgion does get both. So perhaps you may consider it if you do a poison team playthrough. Strangely I really can't remember about Furivia getting Sludge Hammer, and I did transform it into Treezon rather late. Perhaps it was added on a recent update or something.

Almost wanted to bang my head against the wall at that point, seriously. Didn't really play with Dolphin to see how accessible it was, but I can already tell you it is at least better than the others.

So, 4th playthrough for me, I just finished Requia and wow, I made the Last Resort Protocol look like an absolute joke, like never before.Thing is I have two sound type manamon in my team, Rythmond and Chimerus, but it hasn't been much of a problem so far. The team against that  boss was, in fact, Junanchel, Rythmond and Chimerus.Junanchel mainly to tank stuff and confuse, Rythmond to spam Sonic Force not without getting at +2 with amplify voice, and chimerus for Psychedelic spell, yet again not before getting at +2. And it was over way before I would have imagined, not to mention I misplayed and got Rythmond to +3 which resulted in holy smoke. So, with doing this better and for example using aura potions instead of amplify voice, there's quite a potential for speedrunning that particular fight.Though, you may have guessed, Baren Biron wasn't much different.Edit: I think I meant charm potions, not aura potions.

@Jayde: I have finally used Bombusect in my last playthrough and I enjoyed it quite a lot. Doesn't have a lot of health as you know but Parasitic+root point makes it not too hard to recover the health it has lost, and if not hit super-effectively, it has respectable enough defense to not die. I wanted to try it with an Ancient Jawbone but forgot to pick it up. My guess is that it doesn't boost parasite bite as much as root point does, but at least black bite also gets a boost.

Re: Audio game speed running

The closest thing I have done to speedrunning an audiogame was playing BK3 in the higher difficulties, but given that you keep everything, it would need it's own category, BK3 new game + speedrun or something like that. I don't have the stats but I think it generally took me about 5 hours, perhaps closer to 4 hour sometimes, and I think I can still improve on it quite a lot. I rarely used aerogear and super speed drinks at the same time. In 11-4, my strategy was to paintball Carla to make sure she doesn't get in the way, get past her and use the spirit sword, but perhaps there is better. In 19-1 the strategy would probably involve using a speed drink, and dying on purpose with a recovery ring so the speed drink stays active till the end, but I almost never did that. And all those strategies wouldn't work on a speedrun from scratch, which would probably be more interesting to watch. So I would love to see speedruns for the BK series and Shadow Rine (all of them preferably from scratch), and both Manamon games. For Manamon speedrunning I have a special question, could Grandlan be as important for Speedrunning both Manamon games as Nidoking is for speedrunning RBY? Probably not especially with the Hyperforms in Manamon 2, that would have been cool though. Also there is a hero's Call, oh and Marina Break's mission mode, perhaps.Edit: The random nature of what you can get in a Hero's Call may be a problem, I think.

Re: Screen Reader Support in Audio Games

I would say it depends on the game or even what you are doing in said game. Manamon 2 seems to be a pretty good example, battles are smoother with a screen reader since you can interrupt more stuff than with SAPI, but the tutorials in the Music Hall are much harder to follow with a screen reader than with SAPI. Now perhaps the game could have been coded so that both issues could have been avoided but given that I'm hardly a coder myself, I won't insist too much on that. Still, here is an example of a game where the user has the choice between Screen Reader and SAPI and having the choice is neet, for the reasons I mentionned. On the other hand, I didn't try Entombed with a screen reader, but I guess the battles would sound a bit messy, just a supposition though.

I really like the sound engines in the SNK fighting games from 1992 onwards, until SVC Chaos and King Of Fighters 2003 which were quite the disapointment. I mostly like those from Capcom and Namco, and even Virtua Fighter to some extent, though I really wish the sound design from the series evolved a bit more.As far as RPGs go, I kinda like the mix of high quality sampling for the music and almost 8-bit like sound effects in Squaresoft games on the Super Famicom. As for Pokemon, as I played from generations 1 to 6, I like the attack sounds from the gameboy era, after that, it really lost some impact even though gen 6 tried to fix the problem a bit.

I also hope Embird get something between Broil and Flame Blizzard, otherwise I'm also not sure I'm gonna keep it. It's got Aerial Caper and that's cool, except for the animation that would need a bit of a fix, there's like quite some time between when the attack sound supposedly end and when the boost happens. Wanted to try Fingon now that it has Aquatic Blitz and Tidal Gun but eventually switched back to Caboerain. Still, the trout is probably more viable than in Manamon 1 nonetheless.

I've been playing for quite some time but I'm still on my first playthrough, I'm after finishing requiem, and after searching for the stadium in the hella confusing swamp, and learning it is thankfully not there. My current team is Mantasteel, Bamboustica, Sirenea, Fyrate, Amthysto, and Araknite which I might replace. Just like Jayde after me, I especially like Mantasteel, which was arguably my best element in some boss fights, especially Master Dyaz, with access to both Iron Guard and Sharpen, later replaced by Hone Blade.Note that originally, I wanted to use Bombusect instead, but replaced it as soon as I knew it didn't have parasitive.I was kinda spoiled for the three last stadium, so sounds like my Fyrate is relearning Ice Punch then.As for replacing Araknite, I may go for Terrufalo, I really want to retry this guy, as I really liked him in Manamon 1 ddespite his one-trick-pony statuce.

The first and only character I created so far was a femal warrior called Eleanor, and I got Simeon wanting to invite her for a drink or something like that, so I would say he was more or less in love with her. Did a new game plus several times but cannot remember anything else.

Re: a question about some audiogame mechanics

Quite ironically, the very first audiogame I played was Entombed, which had aiming at specific body parts as a core component of it's battle system, which isn't even something you systematically see in mainstream RPGs. Any other audiogame I played after that didn't have something like this. Also I always wondered, when you have some kind of animation/recovery canceling glitch in a game, is it strictly related to graphics? I think Shadow Rine had something like this at some point but find no equivalent in the BK series or any other audiogames. Yes, I know such things are due to glitches, but combos in fighting games and some staple gameplay mechanics in some series such as Devil May Cry are born from this, so it's cool when it happens provided it doesn't break a game too much. Also Jayde,I really like your idea for a boss. There will probably be no BK4 but one could make a worthy spiritual successor with such ideas.

I would not be surprised if one can limit the number of machines on which you can register a game with the same key, I just believe it might be an April fool nonetheless, cause the "Exit" option is not shown, it stops at "redeem your piracy".

To be honest I did install Manamon on both my laptop and desktop without a problem. So either there is a limit to how many machines you can use with one key, or this is an April Fool and the author of the topic modified his pronounciation dictionnary to say "redeem your piracy" instead of "exit".

Though I was born in 1994, I was only introduced to audiogames in 2015. Before that I played mostly fighting games and Pokemon, my first consoles being a Playstation and a GameBoy. Not that many options but I was perfectly happy with it. I would also listen to both my brother and father playing games. Then in 2015 I met a friend which had recently lost is sight and used to play many games on steam. He searched for alternatives and we discovered Entombed together. Though it was a bit buggy I enjoyed it for what it was, unfortunately my friend did encounter a game breaking bug with a spider skeleton, still he did complete the game once. We discovered audiogames.net pretty much at the same time, and then I played Paladin Of The Sky, Braillemon and others, mostly RPG oriented games.

I mean, even the tutorials I found about RPCS3 suggested ripping the firmware directly from the console, but if Sony itself allow you to download it then why bother?Besides, we have 2 PS3s, a slim one that my brother has and I don't see him that often, and another one from 2007 which unfortunately fell victim to YLOD.

I wonder how difficult it would actually be to rip the PS3 firmware without sighted help, I doubt it's even possible but would love to be proven wrong. Also I started playing the PS2 version but didn't go very far for the moment, but whatever the version I hope the sound design is good enough that you can react accordingly to ennemies attacks.Well, at least I assume this is the case, but for example in audiogames such as the BK series the enemies attacks are often telegraphed, whereas it's completely different in The Gate or AAC. But I would rather expect the former from a mainstream game.

@nyanchan: I didn't remember that you could do 11-1 alone in the Chaos Edition, or perhaps it has changed quite a bit between updates. I didn't finish this version yet, I'm grinding things for stage 21.What is surprising is that I find it quite a bit easier than the original for the moment, whereas I honestly expected the contrary. I think in the Chaos Edition Carla has more health, so maybe that is the one change to implement. That, or maybe give her a few healing items that she can use. Again in Chaos Edition, she can use pieces of light to heal in 7-4, so maybe giving her like 2 or 3 of them in stages such as 11 or 12 might be a good idea.

@204: Also you may have noticed that the Devil Guardian makes a distinct sound when it is glowing red. If you know what that sound is, you can stay close to it and change your altitude when it is about to attack. The only weapon it has that you may not be able to avoid completely is it's machine gun, which is not that threatening, especially if your sky racer is upgraded. Then, when it's no longer glowing red, go to an extremity of the map, turn back the other way, and shoot as many missiles as you can before one of them touches it. One of them may miss, but if done correctly, severals missiles will touch it simultaneously and it will take more damage. You should probably move at max speed for this trick to work. Note that it can be dangerous and you should upgrade the SkyRacer a bit if you try that. Also, if I remember correctly, the Devil Guardian can't enable it's shield while using one of it's weapons. Exploiting that weekness can be a bit trickier though.

Note that it can be dangerous and you should upgrade the SkyRacer a bit if you try that. Also, if I remember correctly, the Devil Guardian can't enable it's shield while using one of it's weapons. Exploiting that week weekness can be a bit trickier though.

Hello everyone.I know it's slightly off-topic, though at least it was discussed there earlier. How do I make the Chaos Edition run reliably? I got it from the link that was posted earlier but it seems it was missing many essential DLLs, but when I transfer them from BK3 the game crashes when the tutorial starts. So how do I deal with that? Thanks in advance.

Well, I tried doing another save file when I replaced the rom and time worked correctly, and when I put my other save file it refused to work again. I'm assuming that random reboot corrupted something in the rom I was using, and I can only hope the clock system is the only thing it corrupted, otherwise I might have to start again at some point, even though I effectively replaced the rom.

Re: Opinions on The Gate

@8 and 10: I agree with both of you.Add the fact that enemies feel like they are floating, because it was decided their cries would completely replace their footsteps. And of course it culminates in the bosses shouting the same sentences over and over again, as if some of them weren't annoying enough already. And the predictable ending, and the fact that besides higher difficulties and survival mode you don't have much more to continue the experience, compared to some other games. The fact you can't anticipate attacks is a mixed bag for me. I like the surprise effect but when you have the sword you always do the same things to avoid attacks and kill the enemies. And you would better have that sword over that VGStorm knife, no range, no startup time, no recovery time, and no way my space bar deservs such a treatment.

I see where your coming at, somehow it's one of the series fun aspect, but it also somehow breaks immersion though, for me, really not that much. But I still think Bito deservs these red paintballs lol. Also, I like how the hero sometimes becomes so angry that he destroys everything in his way. No such things in BK3 though, I guess he became wiser/acquired more self-control during those 4 years between 2 and 3.But I'd admit the hero is what bugs me the most in these games. He sounds like a boy, but sometimes it's really difficult to imagine he's not a fully grown man. I mean OK, sometimes his reactions are over the top, but still.I wish he had a defined name. I mean, the Zelda series has Link, the Ys series has Adol Christin, so it would feel more natural if the BK series' hero had a name. Especially since he actually talks, unlike some other action/rpg heroes.

Re: Most annoying game bug you have ever encountered?

One of the most anoying bug that I've faced was in Braillemon, when my Gravler, having only 3 hp left, did only 3 damage to an Electrode with magnitude. Then the Electrode decided to go boom and Gravler died. After that I understood that if I would use a physical move with certain pokemons then it would do damage equivalent to that pokemon's remaining HP.Well, I talked about that one quite a lot in the braillemon thread, and I admit that's not really fair because we all knew that the test release would be very buggy, but for sure I didn't expect the fighting being buggy like that due to how stable it used to be. Then I understood the damage formula was redone so you couldn't do more damage than your opponents HP, and the bug probably came from here. Still weird as it seems special moves weren't affected by the bug.

I also finally got the magical ball, but there is something I don't understand about shadow mode, as I don't seem to be invincible when I switch the ball to shadow. Does it only activate when I have 20% health or less like when you fight the ball itself? Also the ice spell is quite crazy when used by the player. It doesn't do any damage but acts as it's pretty much literally freezing time, and the magical ball itself isn't immune to it, which means whenever you defeat it once, it can be much easier to defeat it countless times after that.

The problem with that sound is that it only indicates you some of the elements, you can't search for the Dragon Balls that way for example. And I agree the input lag in PCSX2 is annoying, and it occurs even when the game runs at full speed. The only think I found about that is to disable vertical synchronisation on the graphic card, but when I tried it it didn't change anything. Supposedly there may be an option to disable it in the emulator itself, but I didn't find it.

I found a method for anyone who may find it difficult to grind for metal to create weapons such as snake chain or triple yoyo. Simply set the dial in 18-3 to 9, go to the landing spot in 18-2, wait for items to fall until the falling noise changes, pick up all the items, then repeat the two last steps a few times. It's a bit tedious, but I got a snake chain rather quickly this way.

Re: Bokurano Daibouken III V2.0 discussion

I agree, the game is already amazing as it is, and it's without a doubt the audiogame on which I spent the most hours. In fact, the only suggestions that I would have are about the jukebox. Maybe the rest of the tracks could be added as collectable or even put into the shops. Also, maybe add a feature to let one know who composed what track. Adding all the tracks of the trilogy would be awesome, but it would be already good with simply the tracks from this game.I also like the idea of a practice room.I understand that you want to shift to a new series Yukyo, and whatever the next series will be, I'll be waiting for it.Though I shall add, as other people before me, that I found the story of the BK series very entertaining, more so than other audiogame stories I know.

Re: Trailer for Galaxy Lab's Next action rpg!

[[wow]], I am surprised I am discovering that just now, though still it's not that late. So, I know we don't know much about the game and that many things will probably change, but I will try to describe what I imagine/expect based on what we have now. This trailer sounds a lot like a more fluid version of Shadow Line, with new elements and notably short attack strings that remind of Gekiransen or, for more mainstream products, the SoulCalibur series (and especially Soul Blade), and bit them up such as Final Fight or Streets Of Rage.Gekiransen was released quite a while ago, and I don't think I'm exagerating when saying they are probably heading for something more complex as a battle system. And that especially with that in mind that I am starting to imagine how awesome it could be.Of course there are minstream games that I really wish I could know better. Among them is Devil May Cry 3, a game in which the hero, Dante, can alternate between sev
eral fighting styles and weapons. As a result the battle system is extremely rich. Each fighting style can be leveled up, and when that happens, new moves are unlocked.Well, now you may sea what I'm thinking about. If the game includes that kind of concept, it would be absolutely gorgeous in my opinion.I'd more easily imagine that happening if the game focusses on one character, or if there is only one active character at a time just like in Shadow Line. Also, if I remember correctly, Shadow Line incorporated turn-canceling, which means you could hit a target, then quickly turn in the opposit direction and turn back to hit the target faster. This mechanic was most notably present in Fianl Fight and wasn't there on purposed, but was so popular that it was brought back to other beat them ups. In the case of Shadow Line, I would be unable to tell if the mechanic was there on purpose or not, but keeping it in this next game would add even more freedom, th
ough I understand some people may call it cheap.Yes, I know, expecting a battle system as complex in a RPG isn't very wise, because it may be very difficult to implement in terms of both balance and attractiveness. And ot be perfectly honest, I am probably imagining all of that beacuse I have been playing fighting game for almost 20 years now, and didn't play much else. In fact, if a friend of mine didn't iniate me to audiogames a few years ago, I wouldn't be there now.Pfew! That's one huge mess of a post that took me more than half an hour to write, and I still feel like I didn't write all I wanted to.As you probably understood, I am really excited, because even if the game ends up going for something completely different than what I imagine, it's clear that once again Galaxy Laboratory are going for something huge, in every possible sens of the word.

I don't know if there is a way to know the Spirit' Sword's attack stat, but to know it's level you just have to press R when using it.

I also hope it will be playable, though I also think it's quite unlikely. At least it's cool to learn that Square Enix is still supporting the PS Vita.

Re: bk3, a few questions on weapons

In fact, I already have the Omega Shooter. In my first playthrough, I grinded for it before continuing to level 17. It wasn't so bad, especially compared to the ultimate needle launcher. To craft it, you need to spend no less than 4904900 gold if my calculations are correct. Virtually the most expansive weapon by extremely far, so I really hoped it was worth it. Also, for the Giga Bolt Laser, you have to find a landing spot in 14-3. Be careful, it's in the last area between the last dockfight and the end of the level, so it's relatively easy to miss, especially since you can only press L in that one area.Once you landed, the Giga Bolt Laser should be at 299-0.Also, I found another way to grind for gold. If you have that Sawtooth Kruiser or whatever it's called, go to a level like 8-1, summon a few Grand Kruisers, and profit. Not as fast as 18-1, but at least you can stay as much as you want.

Re: bk3, a few questions on weapons

Hello everyone,I have a question about a particular weapon, since I am also trying to get as many weapons as possible before starting a new mode.Is the most powerful version of the needle launcher worth it? I don't know exactly how the names of these needle launchers were translated because I still don't have the translation for the moment, but I am talking about the last one you can craft with the faster needle launchers you can buy at the third Bonus Shop. Right now I have the one that requires 81 of these if I'm not mistaken, and it seems it is not very good when an enemy is very close to you. Doesn't seem too bad otherwise, not counting the fact that needles are relatively slow projectiles. So, since the only way I found to grind for gold efficiently is to do 18-1 over and over again, and that the vertical range of that needle launcher I have seems to be a bit of a default at times, is it worth it to grind for the ultimate needle launcher,
outside of getting all the weapons in the game?
