Hi,That's not a thing anymore, to keep a manual spreadsheet of data. Your bank will handle all that for you and you can even download spreadsheets auto-generated by them.It might be fun for a couple months but you'll soon find that your bank keeps your running total far better than you do.So this idea is antiquated; just export whatever your bank has and you'll be good to go.nolan wrote:And don't advise others to do it either.Especially on a public forum...

Re: A concern over Facebook's new privacy policy for What'sApp Users.

You can dump Whatsapp if you really want to. I did about a year ago and have never looked back, simply because of Facebook's ownership of it.The only challenge at first will be adapting to the fact that you no longer have the client, but people will get used to it eventually.Plus there are other services nowadays that do what Whatsapp does.

Better to turn to more reliable, mainstream clients or those that are supported by open-source.I lost track of how many times over the past year or so a conversation has started with "I bought CN and now it's useless..."Besides these are all things you can get for free nowadays. This developer has a track record of abandoning software, so I would advise buyers to beware.

After some time a 40-cell display will aggravate your wrist because you have to slide your fingers around so much. I've found that 14 cells is the happy medium. It allows for quick reading because you can pretty much keep your hands still especially if you're using auto advance. So 20 cells isn't bad. 40 is a bit much though, plus it's longer so you need to clear more space off your desk to use it.I saw an 80 cell once and that's really what turned me off from it.

Congratulations on your purchase. I doubt you'll need the 40-cell version; 20 is plenty to use with a computer. Getting a new display is always exciting. Will it work with your phone also? That's mostly where I use mine.

How to read books on my Braille display in today's age

2021-01-02 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : Munawar via Audiogames-reflector

How to read books on my Braille display in today's age

When digital books were becoming a thing about ten years ago or so, a lot of us used to use Bookshare to download BRF versions of books and read them on note-taking devices like BrailleSense or PACMate. I miss taking six months or so to finish a Tom Clancy novel because they were so long .Are there any equivalents to that today? I have a SmartBeetle Braille display and miss actually reading books instead of being dependent on services like Audible where other people read them.I no longer have a note-taking device; just a SmartBeetle and iPhone. The only solution that comes to mind is signing up for Bookshare and downloading the books to my laptop, then using NVDA to connect using my Braille display. Are there more portable solutions? Is anything like Kindle actually accessible with a Braille display? Or has the younger generation just given up on digital Braille altogether?

Re: Is NVDA the best free screenreader?

@OP, because it's not the case that every person has to jump on every new piece of tech as soon as it comes out.I saw this same question posed when NVDA first made it's entrance so many years ago. Why are people still using JAWS?The answer is that we do this for the same reason not everyone had a smartphone as soon as one came out, and why not everyone was using Chrome and immediately dumped Firefox when Chrome came out.It takes people years to switch. For many of us, switching screen readers is akin to switching OS's. How quickly do you think people would happily switch from Windows to Linux and then two years later to some mix of the two, when they've been perfectly happy on Windows for years?I think switching screen readers isn't seen as the challenge it actually is. Microsoft realized this. This is why they changed their keystrokes to resemble those of JAWS and NVDA. Back when Window-Eyes existed, GWMicro introduced a JAWS keymap to make Window-Eyes as similar to JAWS as possible... and they still lost the market share.Remember the days when the Mac screen reader was the new hot thing? Look how that turned out for them in the long run? Voiceover is hardly getting any updates now, whereas NVDA has a dedicated team of developers not focused on hundreds of other softwares. But in the end none of that matters. Like how at the end of the day customers don't care what software you use to build your fancy new website, as long as it works; rather, it's because screen readers differ enough to where most people (especially those in the upper age range) don't have the time and patience to switch screen readers just for bragging rights.

How many of us have set up websites only to have set up the parsers incorrectly, causing the site to display code instead of compile it? I've done this many times in my day of hosting websites back when PHP was a thing. It was so beautiful when it happened to Facebook xD

Re: I need an online bank account

For any type of online banking, you will be required to send proof of your identity. This is akin to physical banks taking your ID from you at time of registration and copying it for their records. If you have a scanner, just scan it and send it.I use TransferWise for payments I need to send abroad. They don't have a markup on the exchange rate and their fee for the sender is nominal compared to the giants like PayPal who mark up the exchange rates and charge the sender and recipients fees on top of that. All these services require identity verification so you must find a way to get a picture of your ID or passport (I recommend passport since the expiration date is typically further out than a standard government-issued ID.)

Hi,The only reliable way I've found to amplify sound coming through headphones is to use an attachment called Streamer Pro. Sometimes what I'll do is wear my earbuds over my hearing aids since mine are open fit hearing aids. That does work if you position the earbud properly for the hearing aid mic to pick it up, but if you want direct amplification you need to use the attachment.

There are about 12 books and they also take place in an alternate reality in London (why does it always have to be London?)Audible has the full collection and the narration is spot-on.

Re: prepaid vs postpaid cell phone plans?

I like prepaid for the opposite reason that has been given here for supporting postpaid plans. With prepaid, you just grab a prepaid card and never have to worry about it again. No credit checks (which means I don't need to unfreeze my credit for them to pull it) and all that nonsense just to have a cell number. The impact bills have on your credit report is insignificant at best and if you've got an active credit file (meaning several cards and/or loans,) no point worrying about one bill not popping up on your report.Plus with prepaid you can dump the number any time you want. While I haven't had to do that yet, it's nice to know I can do it without any hassle.

Re: Discussion of the 2020 American Federal Election

Ironcross32 doesn't like the Democrats because of their holier-than-thou attitude, probably. Frankly it turns me off sometimes too. They'll yell at people to be tolerant yet they get to pick and choose who to be tolerant towards and who to hate. They also over correct when told they're being intolerant, with all their pretending that all is fine and dandy with the world. (Can't even count how many times celebrity Democrats call someone "beautiful" for being obese, as one example.)They think the world can be talked through and that giving people flowers is "brave."And they love to pick and choose what's ok and what's not ok. Taken point: blind being called visually impaired; general disability being called "differently abled"; and things getting so PC that one can't even joke anymore. If sighted people dancing around the word "blind" annoys you, raise your hand. Well, you can blame the left for that one. They want to scorn you for not being vegan yet insist that no one should care what someone does in their own lives because it's their right to choose. But you know, silently granted, that they're judging you. That's why Democrats have become too much lately and I'd wager that's why he's tired of them. They'll go around with their noses in the air yet blame others for doing the same thing. At least Conservatives are honest on that point. They'll tell you (as the President has) that yeah, they hate Muslims, they hate Black people, they like eating meat and they want to joke like they could back in the day without hurting peoples' oh so delicate feelings. They want the culture of "toughen up buttercup" back.

Credit card companies can once again market to young people through incentive because of the reversal of the Credit Card Act signed into law by Obama. They can also suddenly raise interest rates without notice, along with many other bad practices that they were prevented from doing because of this law. But because it was an Obama (Democrat) law, it was reversed. Now if you hang around college campuses, creditors are back again, marketing to young people who are barely starting their first years of university (the law had banned this practice.)

Sadly, you're not alone in finding accessible CS material.I think I still have a BRF of one of the books which deals with data structures. I will see if I can dig it up and send it to you. The rest were hard-copy Braille, all of which I've since sent out to other CS students over time once I graduated, so I no longer have them.

@Jayde: nailed it.@kjsisco: I'm sure the Jews said the same thing during World War II. I'm sure even the protestors in the US said the same thing: "We don't do that sort of thing." Suddenly we start seeing protestors dragged off for no apparent reason. So, to tie this in with the current topic at hand, we can point fingers and things all we want at China, but the US is quickly getting to China's level because we refuse to accept that it can--and will--happen here, to us.This is my reality: every time I hear the President and other people who can actually make this happen say stuff like "ban the Muslims" and other negative things against minorities they don't like (in order to feed their war agendas,) those remarks are very real to me. You might think "Oh, he's just being that way." But keep in mind the majority of our anti-Muslim foreign policy is sparked by anger; and most of our racism towards Black people is sparked by anger. I used to identify as Muslim. So when I hear "radical Islamist" uttered by people in power, I can feel the anger and yeah, it does scare me.But as America always does, we like to point fingers at places like China and their concentration camps, when we forget that in the US we have detained so many so-called "radical jihadi terrorists" simply because we can, and that we use to put Japanese-Americans in concentration camps. So, yes, we actually do that sort of thing. As Jayde pointed out, I know I'm safer here in the US than in China but the reality is that it won't be that way for much longer, not if things continue to go the way they have been.

What's the name of the online voting system for disabled people (USA)?

Hi,During the NFB convention, they were demonstrating a website where blind people can go, fill out their ballots, and have the ballot printed so they can mail it.Does anyone know the name of this site?Is it state-controlled or is there one that's available at the federal level?I've contacted NFB but (as is usually the case with large organizations) haven't been able to get in touch with anyone yet, and I fear we're running out of time to figure all this out.Additionally, resources on the NFB site are lacking in substance: of course everyone asks you to contact your supervisor of elections, but in reality these offices don't bother with people like us (I did contact them by the way, and haven't heard anything back in over a month.)Did anyone else here attend the session where NFB was showing some site or other to accessibly fill out a ballot? If you can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.I don't want to forfeit my vote just because I can't figure out the mail-in ballot system.I have requested a mail-in ballot but don't know how I'll actually fill it out once it arrives.

@237: If you are anything but white, your chances of actually being arrested and "disappearing" go up in the US. For example, someone like me can't go outside and shout such things. In the US we have a way of ignoring what should be dubbed as terrorism--because it's domestic and conducted by white people. As an example of how much fear we actually live in, two incidents come to mind. First, there was an airshow that I was unaware of a year or so ago. I'm sitting outside listening to a book and I suddenly heard fighter jets scream overhead. My first instinct was to seek shelter because I thought the administration was going to bomb my building. Judging by this administration's extremism towards Muslims, I wouldn't say this is far from the truth. We literally have a radical in the White House. The second incident happened when some vans started pulling up to a building across the breezeway from mine. I would hear drilling and things of that sort throughout the night. My suspicion for the longest time was that NSA was either creating a safe house or listening post. This stemmed from the days and weeks and years just after 9/11 when there would be black SUV's parked outside the Mosque I used to attend all those years ago when I was Muslim. We had even seen people taking pictures of the worship center. So the government threat (for those who are colored and against those groups of people which the US has a vandeta) is definitely real.As another example, Jayde has said some things against trump I found to be threatening in nature, and I've thought to myself "I could never come on here and write that."

Re: What do you think about the Corona virus conspiracy theories?

If we wish to apply the right not to wear a mask philosophy across the board, I, as a smoker, should be allowed to smoke inside, in your face, without you having any concern for it and without society telling me I can't smoke around you because it's harmful for overall health.Yet I can't smoke inside; in fact, nowadays, at least in the US, we can't even smoke outside unless we're really far from crowded areas. And everyone's fine with that. No one complains about it.That's because we know how harmful it is, and we've come to learn as a society how damaging my smoke is for your lungs (forget mine; that's my right to choose.) But I have no right to endanger your health on my account.Similarly, when you choose not to wear a mask, you're potentially endangering my health. The mask doesn't necessarily protect you; it protects me from you in case you're a carrier. Just as I wear a mask to protect you from me in case I'm a carrier, and how I follow no-smoking guidelines to protect your health, not mine (something no one, not even smokers complain about.)I wear gloves and all that to protect the health of a relative who is living with me because they're immuno-compromised,  just like I don't smoke around a guest who has Asthma. Why is that such a big deal? If we're all ok (and proud of) the smoking rule, why are masks suddenly an issue? It boils down to the same thing: you have no right to encroach on my health.Re: Democrats and riders, I bet to differ here. If this was true, then we wouldn't have seen initially proposed amounts in stimulus payments drop; we also wouldn't have seen a cut in unemployment benefits; and we certainly wouldn't have seen a cut in the Meals on Wheels program. So, all these assistance programs you speak of are actually being purposefully dismantled by the president and the current ruling party. It's shameful to know that we support such a party, I know, so we try to blame the other side as much as we can but if we carefully look at the actions of the party itself, we can see what a big hand the party itself had in the mess we find ourselves in--without assistance from the Democrats.

Let's have a few thousand dollars to help pay off the student loan that I now am unable to pay off because of this stupidity. There are countries that are actively providing mortgage assistance and stimulus payments to their citizens. Germany was paying 2/3 of workers' wages when I checked a while ago. The reason it hasn't happened in the US is because of the sitting president and his party. Just look at how much they're fighting over sending us a meager $1,200 and how much of a mess the last payment was. Plus, they'll get it back in next year's taxes.Keep in mind that the party you're supporting is the one in power right now, and that party is the one that's blocking you getting any type of assistance. We don't even have renter's assistance in this country like other countries do. Yet just look at how much the airlines and cruise industries received. And the blame for this falls squarely on the party you support. Want your $30,000 mortgage assistance? Want holdover cash to help carry you over (as you should receive and what other countries have already implemented?) Well, guess who's stopping it all? It's your friend and the man who will most likely get reelected. That's where your frustration should be directed.I agree: a few grand of holdover cash would be nice. But we won't get it because it'll stop people from returning to work. This is the argument your party has used to not provide more than $1,200 to Americans who have faithfully paid taxes for years. If you feel like someone's turned their back on you, it's your president, not us.Jayde: Thanks. I agree re: unique solutions. I've seen this from a lot of people myself. We're much better equipped today to deal with the fallout from the virus than we were during 1918 for example. A lot of us can work remotely. I feel for the essential workers who get paid minimum wage and put their lives on the line for us by exposing themselves to the virus so services can continue to run as smoothly as possible. If anyone's hurting from this virus, it's them. Mostly because I feel like the country (the US) has let down these workers the most. And it's really sad to see: while Congress is fighting over a stimulus payment that doesn't even cover rent for most people for one month, people are actually losing their homes because our government can't get its act together.Yet there is still widespread support for the current party in power. It makes no sense to me.

Re: I need help in bypassing the fortinet filtering firewall that is conne

Ok, if you're there only for two weeks, my suggestion is to wait. You'll get into a lot of trouble if they catch you trying to bypass the filters they have in place.Don't worry: if you mean you want your banking info to stay safe, you're fine. Those sites are protected by SSL so traffic to and from them is encrypted anyway. What exactly do you want to stay safe from? If you mean Facebook and the likes, there are plugins for that nowadays like Noscript that block all active content, so Facebook's tracking of you based on your own browser is limited (though not gone.) VPNs don't protect you from such sites tracking you. No one is safe nowadays. If you want to hide your identity by visiting sites that the boarding school has blocked, well... there's your problem.Never heard of anyone using Tor "just because."

Re: What do you think about the Corona virus conspiracy theories?

Interesting how, if we consider a sufficiently large sample size of the blind community, chances are most of us on here saying we want our lives back don't even have social lives to begin with. We hardly went out even before the pandemic. So what are we missing, exactly? We're just chanting this chorus because it's the new "in" thing.Online delivery is still ongoing; and for many of us, the fact that mom and pap shops are suffering means nothing. Because we don't go out...and we're not employed. Our income is still guaranteed no matter how bad things get. So I don't buy this "Help me, I'm suffering because businesses are losing money" stuff. Not from this community. In fact, I'd argue that things are actually getting better for us considering that so many companies are now moving to remote work as a permanent solution and doing away with their offices. Contactless delivery / curbside pickup? Well, we no longer have some random person grabbing our arms and pummeling us violently in the direction we were going in anyway; we no longer need to fumble around a grocery store in the name of proving our independence to people who honestly couldn't care less, just so we can say we found our groceries all by our independent selves. So if anything, the world has (or is getting) a lot more blind friendly than it used to be.

They have a right to packet sniff you. You're using their services. Blocking domains doesn't mean they're actively tracking you though. It just means they've seen a lot of traffic going to sites they consider off-limits so they've blocked certain domains. It doesn't mean someone's actually sitting there and watching you connect to a porn site and saying "nope, reject."

It worked in the US though. Turned most of the Conservative party against China which is exactly what the Republican agenda is. Just like we used the terror attacks of September 2001 to justify killing thousands and thousands of Muslims, the US has managed to use this virus to justify anger against China, to get the population on its side re: trade wars.Someone made a good point to me a while ago that the utter amazement of government incompetency has caused me to scream "conspiracy" because I simply can't process how the elite can be so incompetent, but if you really look at what it's done here in the US you can see that the Coronavirus has fit the Conservative ideology very well in terms of fear-mongering.People are starting to find radical jihadist Islamist fundamentalist terrorists rather boring nowadays and most of the US is waking up to the fact that domestic terrorism is more of a threat than the jihadis, so scaring people about Muslims no longer works as well as it used to. Just look at the overall reaction to the killing of al-Baghdadi: most of us went "don't care; we don't even know who he is." Hence, the US needs a new enemy or Lockheed Martin will suffer.

Linux Update Went Wrong, Why?

2020-09-12 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : Munawar via Audiogames-reflector

Linux Update Went Wrong, Why?

I recently had to reboot a Linux system I'm working on and since this system doesn't get rebooted often, I decided to do an update to bring the system current. After running sudo apt upgrade (which started fine,) the service started complaining that it was out of space. It finally exited with code 1 and gave that message again about being out of space. I assumed the updates didn't install and that Linux had been smart enough to roll back (one would assume with such a mature system, it would have.)So I rebooted it in the hopes of trying the update again. It never got to the boot screen. There was someone working in the data center at the time and I had to get them to look at the screen (I only access it over SSH.) They said it looked like it was showing a bunch of processes and just sitting there (I'm assuming it looked like a ps dump.)So I had them hard boot the system and go into the Advanced menu. From there I first had them activate "clean broken packages" and then boot into an older kernel. That older kernel works, and the Linux system is able to boot fine now.I have several questions here:1. Why wouldn't Linux just refuse to update if there's not enough space?2. When logging into SSH, it says 10% of / used... so the system definitely isn't low on hard disk space. Where did it run out of memory and how do I prevent this in the future?3. Is there any way to recover the latest Kernel? or4. Is there a way to get rid of the latest kernel and just force Linux to boot the good kernel (the one that's running now?)I did run apt autoremove which cleaned up a lot of stuff. It's asking me to reboot (***system restart required***) when I log in to SSH but I'm afraid to do that without someone present in the data center. It did mention stuff about removing kernels while performing autoremove. Also sudo apt update now says 0 packages can be updated. So I guess it actually did update? I'm so confused at this point. Please help before I join the "Linux is complicated and cryptic" crowd. xDI hope it didn't get rid of all the kernels on the system (what if the one I'm currently running gets corrupted? The only thing that saved me last time was that Linux happens to keep older kernels around.) I didn't even know it did this until I had someone in IT bring up the boot menu. This is an Ubuntu system. Also, if you can please keep your answers simple. It's IT's job to troubleshoot these systems and all that and I've never done anything on Linux machines except for software stuff you can do over SSH. So if you use Linux-specific terminology please explain what it means so I can understand. Remember, I'm not IT. I'm just a software guy. So my familiarity with this sort of thing is lacking (I'm even afraid to touch "Windows recovery options" when Microsoft gives us a nice friendly GUI to play with.)Thanks!

Skype becomes more and more inaccessible with every update. Mine just updated again a few days ago and yeah now other things don't work (along with the alt bug.) Like the "add people" dialog for instance. You used to be able to add people easily to a call using it. Now NVDA just says "grouping."

Re: braillenote touch and braillesense u2, which one is better?

@47: great question. I got curious at one point too because I thought "hey, there must be cheaper options out there." My agency had just dropped me because I'd graduated from university so I needed to start footing the bill for any type of AT I needed. That's when I came to know of 14 cell Braille displays like SmartBeetle that are just over $1,200. And you can get an iPhone that's a generation or two behind that will cost you much less than the high price Apple puts on their products--or you can go the Android route and get a device much cheaper.Alternatively, you can go for the $500 Braille displays like the one made by APH, though when I got my SmartBeetle, APH's display didn't exist yet.Ultimately, I feel that getting a Braille display with a mainstream product is the much better route to take nowadays since technology is moving so fast. For example, when the BrailleSense U2 came out, the company was bragging about the processor speed and the capabilities of the device... when the mainstream market had left Windows CE behind at least five years before the U2 was developed.

Re: braillenote touch and braillesense u2, which one is better?

All this talk about flashy new hardware and the latest tech got me interested, especially since people on here were saying they were going to buy the product. So I looked it up, in the hopes of seeing that assistive tech has finally dropped in price.BrailleNote Touch 18 Plus – Braille note taker/tablet BrailleNote Touch 18 Plus – Braille note taker/tablet$4,195.00 BrailleNote Touch Plus – Braille note taker/tablet BrailleNote Touch 32 Plus – Braille note taker/tablet$5,695.00 Personally, I don't think these price tags are justified for a device that might not even see long-term support. You can get a Braille display and Android device separately for about a third of the price. Just pair them, and you have pretty much everything this shiny new device offers.

Re: wireless keyboard. which one to choose?

Hi,It can use any type of light source to charge. I'm usually always sitting under some sort of light because I need it for my webcam, and I've never had a dead keyboard. So just turning on your standard room lighting will do just fine. It's weird actually not having to plug this in and think about the charge. It's essentially always at 100%, since they've put enough solar panels in it for it to pick up a good amount of energy. As for the company, I bought a different model keyboard from them which I didn't like and didn't work too well. They replaced it without me having to send back the last one. So they really do stand by their product.

@OP, sadly this is one of my reasons for generally steering clear of JAWS. They implemented support for Scintilla a few versions ago but sometimes JAWS doesn't hook properly or whatever it does to get access, and things like Notepad++ randomly stop reading.I find JAWS to be powerful (much more than NVDA) but too unreliable for serious use anymore. What you can try is update your Scintilla-based software to the latest version and see if that works (for example, JAWS doesn't seem to work with Notepad++ releases earlier than last year.)Next, try disabling the JAWS video hook in Settings Center; that has upped the reliability of JAWS for me somewhat.

Then again, how long did it take FS to admit defeat with the PACMate and finally stop selling it?

@Dan_Gero: I agree with your sentiment re: slang. The posts you quoted made me wonder too what OP did to be called homophobic, since I have seen this slang used (and use it myself) to refer to "I'm good."Where I differ with you is your justification for your anger. I live completely on my own too. The best thing I ever did for myself was delete both Twitter and Facebook. I also don't respond to posts on here that anger me. Given my lack of the two most popular social media networks, I'd say I'm even more alone than you are, if you have a Twitter. So yeah, it's possible to stay sane even when alone. I have tons of things I could comment on here but frankly I just don't bother reading most topics on here anymore. Most flame posts just get a one-line read from me because I'm simply not interested in people going back and forth. So to pin this on the lockdown and stuff like that isn't being realistic and honest with yourself. You have a trigger as I've seen from this topic, perhaps a tendency to fly off the handle. This tendency has some root cause we haven't figured out yet, but you can't pin it on other peoples' "stupidity." Everyone is different, and if you treat your friends like you do the people in this topic by smashing dishes because of everyone else but your own anger issues, well it's probably why you have a small social circle. I'd love to check out your Twitter one day and see what you post on there. Are you one of those negative posters, the type that made me leave Twitter a year or two ago?

If you only use 500 MB, then also consider AT's prepaid plans. You can get a $25.00 monthly plan with an add-on package for $5.00 extra that will give you 500 MB a month.I'm on their $40 a month prepaid plan and I get too much data on it anyway, about 5 GB or so. Plus they don't cut you off, they just throttle you. So yeah $100 is an unnecessary payment; there are far cheaper plans available. Even the 5 GB I don't use but 200 MB a month from it, but I need it for data availability in supported countries like Canada and England.

Re: Leviathan Chronicles Season 3 is here!

@Jayde: It's an audio drama about an alien lifeform that delivers pseudo-immortality to Earth. Other factions want their hands on the tech as well so there's a conflict. It went on hiatus for a very long time because the producer had severe personal issues so he was dealing with his family at the time. I would say it's been at least eight years since I listened to the drama because I remember being introduced to it in 2011.They dropped season 3, the final season, this week Monday as of this writing. The character that @19 spoiled is significant to the story now that I've started listening to season 1 again. So if you do end up listening to it, be aware that you won't be able to connect with one of the main characters because you know his ending already. On mainstream forums, spoilers are immediate grounds for permabans so @19 got off easy on this one. I remember when Game of Thrones was still running, even the actors were under contract to not reveal anything even hinting at a spoiler or they'd be fined. I'm one of those that absolutely hates! spoilers, because as @Jayde pointed out it kills the mood in many cases. I never watched Game of Thrones but I knew a lot of people who did, and the reactions when someone would spoil something were cultish. For those of you who don't think this is a big deal, maybe you simply haven't waited as long as others of us have for the final season.@Simba: I love the passive aggressiveness there with the common sense comment. (Sarcasm.) Apparently you don't know what a spoiler is or you simply don't have enough common sense yourself to think "hey, even though I've finished it because I have all the time in the world to just sit there and binge the damn thing, other people don't." I've been looking forward to starting the series this weekend after work and you pretty much ruined that whole experience. Consider yourself lucky to not be on a forum where they take spoilers seriously or they'd never let you back on.In case you don't know, it's common sense (your words) and considered common forum etiquette to not spoil a series. Just take @34's example where they clearly warned of a spoiler ahead. If it was up to me you'd be permabanned like I've seen other forums do when someone spoils something. In fact I daresay just getting a warning is letting you off too easy. It's akin to mentioning a significant plot twist to Harry Potter's character Dumbledore that happens in The Half-Blood Prince.

Re: Google Meet/secure alternative to Zoom

Zoom and Microsoft Teams fit all my needs. I don't use either program outside of work so this is just another chat app to me. *yawn*. Knowing Google they'll probably kill it eventually anyway haha. So at this point I'm hesitant to use anything with the Google brand. I think the only thing that's stayed around longer than usual is GMail. Hell, they even killed Hangouts and though I never used it, I knew a lot of Android people who did.@Facebook: Ikh, no thanks. I was watching a livestream on Facebook recently and got really nervous when I had to disable my _javascript_ blocker to view the stream. I'm on track to dumping Whatsapp soon too.
