Well, you could also try avidamux. I was able to use it with fairly good results a while back, and although it's not something I work with consistently, I can say it does what I need it to when I need it done. Here's a topic I posted about it a while back:https://forum.audiogames.net/topic/3106 … eo-editor/

Hmmm. Your view in the plugin window is set to controls, right? I was able to adjust transform pads x and y with sliders and when I quickly looked through the rest of the options they seemed interactable. Or am I not understanding what you're asking?edit: I only tested with logic, and I think you're using garageband, my mistake

Re: I'd like to work with loops in Logic/GB but my eyes are broken

I typically place my play head where I want my loop, region, or audio to start and just paste it right there with command V. You can copy audio from finder, loops from the loops browser (accessed by pressing o) and midi and audio regions within tracks. When you copy and paste audio loops garageband or logic should create a new track for them and you should be able to work with it just as you would any other.

Re: Lets talk about cooking.

I agree, I'll definitely be saving some of this information. Thanks everybody. I'm relying on my college meal plan to feed me right now, which is fine, but at the same time now is a great opportunity for me to learn how to prepare some stuff without the risk of going too terribly hungry if I mess it up lol. These tips and advice are pretty great. Probably the most complicated thing I've ever cooked is eggs over medium... but I kinda cheated and used my air fryer, which for me was one heck of a lot easier than a skillet. I always tend to break the yolk or never get the timing right on flipping when I'm doing it on the stove. But all I had to do here was grease a bowl, crack an egg in there, season salt it, put it in the air fryer, and get it going at 325 or so. Depending on how I want it cooked, I leave it in there for 7 to 9 minutes, but I start checking at 7 to see if it's where I want it. Suits me fine for times when I don't want my dining hall's rubbery scrambled eggs haha.

Re: Is There a Way to Access Operating System Files for Voice Sense

Good to hear you made some progress. The sounds, at least when I explored the braille sense, were in /nand/sounds. But again, that was on the u2 model, I'm not sure how similar that is to the voice sense.I ran into the same problem you did with the Windows folder, so I extracted the update file, just as @10 suggested. Unfortunately, I looked around quickly to see if I could still find a download, but you're right, Hims seems to have stopped offering it. All the links result in 404 error pages.Essentially, from what I can remember, the update package contained two files, apps.bin and nk.bin. Apps, from what I could tell, was most of everything except the Windows folder, and nk.bin was everything else. If you want, I can look around and see if I have the full image I extracted a long, long time ago and I'll upload it somewhere for you.

I can't ever actually say I've used a voiceSense, but I had a braille sense which I could access hidden system files on by typing  "/flashdisk/../" into the address bar, accessed by pressing tab from the drives list in file manager. This is the best I can remember, I haven't used mine in quite a while, but let me know if you make any progress.

Re: RedditForBlind a windows app to use Reddit blazingly fast (v0.97.5)

It looks like you did figure out what I meant, but just to clarify I am talking about the "save" button that appears on the reddit site under each post. You click it and then in your account profile section, there is a category called "Saved," where you can review and come back to posts/comments you clicked that button on. That's quite a nifty little feature, which I've been replacing by upvoting posts since there is an "Upvoted" category in the profile section too, so it's almost the same thing. I would just prefer to save things sometimes so as not to give any indication that I like  or dislike something, just that it's something that I might want later.I also have a question. When replying to a post, hitting ctrl + r and typing, I'm experiencing some odd behavior with NVDA. For whatever reason, I'm typing each word of my reply, pressing space, and nothing happens. I do have echo words turned on. However, when I insert punctuation, such as a comma or a period, NVDA will announce all of the words I typed as one word. The spaces do seem to actually be included but it isn't reading them. This isn't a problem in other applications, notepad, word, firefox in this multiline field element I'm typing in right now... so I wonder what could be going on. I'm using NVDA 2020.3 if you'd like to test that on your end.

Yes, if you use the .wav format, you will unfortunately be stopped at 4GB. However, if you would like to continue with your experiment, you can use flac, which is usually intended for higher quality audio, thus, a larger file size.

If you don't have python installed, and you are an administrator of your system, you can use the fsutil command like so:fsutil file createnew x.txt 1000You can specify the file size in bytes, and you can name the file anything you'd like. Just run it from an elevated command prompt in the directory of your choosing. Enjoy!

Re: A topic to talk about recent findings of retro stuff

Oh boy, I got all kinds of stuff laying around here. I never throw anything away on the off chance that I might need it someday, so I've built up quite a collection of electronics. I'm an old soul at heart though, so those aren't the only things I keep. I can't get enough of antiques, old instruments, vintage items... I really enjoy that kind of thing. I don't actually have much in the way of old objects, say, before the turn of the century, but I'll tell you what, I sure like going to antique stores to look at it all. I've been looking around for an old clock... that ticks. It's like you can't buy those anymore. The entire world seems only to want clocks that make no noise. Every time I go search for old timepieces, I get millions of results about the quietest possible clock, or one that is nonticking, or just generally anything except what I'm actually looking for. Boy do I like the peaceful, steady sound of a mechanical "tick, tick, tick..." but I digress. As far as technology, I have an old iPod nano around here somewhere, which I've been meaning to charge up and get some music on. I also have an iPod shuffle, but I'm not sure if it still functions. I have an iPod touch 5 as well, which needs repairing and is running iOS 9. I have two beautiful iPhone 4S devices, as well as 2 5S devices, which are both unfortunately running iOS 12. @19, how did you manage to get iOS 10 onto your phone? Did you down or upgrade it?I also got an old dell inspiron from 2000 something, I was helping clean out somebody's place and found it there. The owner didn't want it anymore, the screen was totaled so they couldn't use it, but... well, doesn't bother me none. Runs Windows Vista like a boss. Not that I like Vista, but a computer is a computer. Maybe I'll upgrade it, or put linux on it, or any number of things.I got way too many old desktops laying around two, some of which were custom built to be the best of the best in their day. Of course, their specs are laughable now, but I stripped some of them for parts anyway, you know, just in case. I now have a lot of desktop storage which I use as just other external drives. Most of those systems were running Win7, and they were optiplex machines from 2010, but one was from even earlier and had XP on it. Everything ran fine. That's just what I can think of off the top of my head, but I'm sure if I look around I  could come up with more. I sure wish I had some older notetakers, hated the apex when I had to use one but now I would like to get one back. An mPower too, if I could find it. Oldest thing I have is the U2. I've never even seen the real relics, like the braille note classic, or the pacmate, or, even before those units, a braille lite. I have got to fool with a braille and speak though, boy that was something.

Re: a question regarding hearing aids and headphones

2020-12-01 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : Thatguy via Audiogames-reflector

Re: a question regarding hearing aids and headphones

I also have a question, as my hearing has been declining rather more than I'd like lately, and so hearing aids are something I've been thinking about. I have lost quite a bit of my ability to hear high frequencies on my left side, yet I really don't want to just get one aid, that just sounds kinda weird to me. I would rather have two, just because my right ear isn't so great either... But my question is this. How will my directional hearing be impacted if I do that? Or is that even a problem? From my understanding, when wearing an aid you are left with just the input from its microphone. If I had one aid for my left ear, that ear would be able to hear normally. Combined with my right ear, which is significantly better, I should still be able to tell from where things are coming from and where they are in relation to me. But if I have both aids, all I have is amplified sound in both ears, right? Or do they relate to each other and give you, I guess, a stereo experience? Also, How will things like distance work? Will I still be able to hear how far or close something is to me, say, when using my cane to bounce sound waves off a building, or analyzing near and far parallel traffic at an intersection? Since hearing aids amplify sound, won't they eventually ruin your hearing even more?  Sorry if this is a lot, and for taking the discussion off topic slightly, or if any of these questions are rather dumb lol, but I'm just trying to get as much information as I can here before I go and buy a pair, @6, that was helpful. Thank you.

So, are we not going to talk about the mismanagement of the pandemic that was going on while Biden was vice president? The pandemic that killed up to thirteen times as many children as corona has so far? The pandemic that infected up to sixty million people according to the CDC's numbers? You all seem real happy criticizing trump for the way you think he dealt with covid19, but Biden hardly did any better of a job in my opinion. How can we accept that? Schools didn't close once during the Swine flu even though it was a much greater threat to children. All schools still aren't open now even though the total number of individuals killed from covid under the age of 18 is 92, compared to 1282 by swine. I think you ought to take a look at this article, which actually says that we're seeing more suicides! @1, if you can't get strongbox to work, there is an app called Keypass Touch that has worked for me in the past and still does. You do have to pay 99 cents to remove ads and enable the autofill option, but it's well worth it in my opinion. Every time I log in somewhere, I can see a suggested login or, if not, a "Passwords" button where suggestions usually are, above the qwerty row of the keyboard. I tap that, select from a choice of iCloud Keychain or Keypass Touch, provide my fingerprint for decryption, and choose from my database entries. This app also offers ftp, dropbox, google drive, and even lan syncing as well, so you can keep your database always up to date across your devices. It's completely accessible.@3, I daresay a lot of people appreciate keypass because of its open source nature as well as the fact that keypass stores its passwords in an offline database which you can choose where to keep. In contrast, your passwords may be stored in the cloud with another password manager such as OnePassword. That, at least, is a feature I very much enjoy.

The crunchiness combined with the juice of beef and the soft cheese makes for a delightful combo.

Re: NVDA accessible broadcast recording program

If you're looking for a program that records from a URL, goldwave can do it, and audacity might be able to as well. There's also a program called total recorder, it's a really amazingly accessible app that has everything but the kitchen sink, including a command line interface, scheduled recordings, and of course, recording from web streams. I hope that helps.

I have the aftershocks treks Titanium and Bose Frames, and each one has its pluses and minuses. Aftershocks pros.Relatively affordableAvailable wired or wireless.Decent sound qualityDoesn't take away from you listening to your environment unless you have them at high volumeDesigned for runners and athletes, so are staying put on your head.Only you can hear them, not a lot of leakage unless you have them up real loud6 hour battery life or 12 with wired versionsConsBecause bone conduction doesn't use your eardrums, a lot of low end is lost from your audioNon-adjustable, you either  buy the aftershocks or the aftershocks mini depending on your head sizeTrouble using on calls and sometimes with virtual assistants. Bose Frames pros:Clear and crisp sound. Bose frames use speakers in the arms of the sunglasses to play audio directly at your earsClear audio on calls and with virtual assistants.Don't move around a lot on your headAre actually good sunglassesCons:They're $200Audio leakage happens a lot easier on these than aftershocks because they use speakers and not bone conduction3-hour battery lifeDifferent variants of the glasses are available but most of them, I'm told, don't look very nice. The smallest pair still look big on my face, and I have a pretty decent sized faceYou look weird wearing them on a cloudy day if you're using them while traveling. I personally don't care, but you might.

Yeah, siri can be extremely frustrating sometimes. I think it's just ridiculous some of the things she can't do. Some parts of apple's ecosystem she does well with but others... it makes no sense why she can't do something for me. I asked her to tell me how many steps I walked today. She told me I'd just have to look on my apple watch and figure it out. I asked her to open activity. She opened it on my watch. I asked her to set a dang timer. She told me she was unable to set a timer for a specific amount of time. ... ... isn't that the whole point of a timer though? Google assistant I've used and it seemed to work much better, except for... I feel kind of uncomfortable talking to it because the whole time, I'm just thinking about every article I've read about what google does with the data it gathers on me. I guess that's pretty much the same with every virtual assistant though.

Re: Internet Speed and tips discussion

Well, I live out in the middle of nowhere and internet speed here is pretty terrible. We have AT, but that's only because they're the only ISP we can get in this area. We're certainly not with them for the network speeds, lol. Right now, I am downloading a file, and my download speed keeps jumping between 18 and 45 kbps. It's pretty annoying, really, especially cause we're paying for a 3 megabit package and aren't even getting one. Calling to complain only does so much, as rural places are very low priority, but you know, we get along ok. I tell you, it sure does make zoom meetings and online classes pretty difficult though.

It's automatic. Just scroll past an image, and if there's text in it, you'll hear a click indicating that, and voiceOver will do what it can to read that for you. It's not a great feature right now, as iOS 13's image description currently gets more text out of a screenshot I took than iOS 14, but that's how you do it, anyhow.

Re: Hey, so some random tech questions, plus a drumming question thrown in

Well, as far as your first question goes, when I have windows boot problems, I use seeing ai to read my screen. It works for most things, for me at least, and usually gives me enough information to know how to proceed. Most times, my computer is usually so broken that I'll just plug in a windows recovery disk and go from there, since narator does work in that situation. Booting into it does require using the bios, as I'm sure you know, and again, I use seeing ai to read me the order of my drives. Then, I simply press down arrow till I get to the correct one as indicated and press enter. It takes a few tries, but I get it done usually. Now, I do realize you said you don't have a monitor for your desktop, so there's this. I have heard of talking bios software before. I don't know too much about it, but I've seen people sell pc's with that as a selling point. I've been wanting to look into it myself, so if I do, I'll get back to you.As far as cymbals go, I prefer sabian myself, but I'm more of a heavy drummer and I love the way their stuff sounds. Also, their equipment isn't exactly cheap, so there's that too. I can tell you, though, that I've bought used cymbals before, and sometimes, they sound superior to new ones because they've been broken in some. I love going to Guitar Center to look at what they've got on their used cymbal rack, because sometimes there are some really, really good deals. I do realize that may be out of the question right now and maybe for a long while, so I'd suggest seeing what you can find online.

Re: is there a good and accessible replacement for file explorer?

I'm not a big fan of file explorer either, but I think most of my problems lie with NVDA. It always loses focus in items view when I'm using another app which is doing something with files, say, downloading them from an ftp server. That, and the fact that my dang treeview disappeared and I can't figure out how to reenable it, makes me really annoyed sometimes lol. When I use narrator I have none of these problems.I use xplorer and I like it because it has none of these problems either, and I'd use it more if it didn't tell you so much information about everything you scroll through. I can only disable this for one pain at a time though. 7zip also has an okay file manager, but it too gives me a lot of information I don't want. I'd never touch it if I didn't have to go in there to extract files. The 7zip menu just will not show up in my context menu.

@1, I wouldn't advise using freenom, but if you must, here's something you can try. This worked for me.Instead of typing the domain name you need, type your full site address in to the search field. So, for example, don't type: slamdachipthen choose the .ga, .tk. .ml, .gq, etc extension from the list. Type:slamdachip.gqThis should autoselect it, getting rid of the whole not available issue, and you should just be able to hit checkout from there. Re: What to look for when choosing a backup solution?

Wait... the windows backup tool actually works? Awesome! Also, I too tried out backblaze. I was thrilled once I saw its pricing and I thought I had myself a deal. But then I signed up for a free trial and  then I figured out that using that solution would not be practical at all for me, as my network upload speed is somewhere around maxing out at 50 kbps. When my trial was over and I had only managed to upload about 10 gb to the cloud, I thought: "Nah, I'm out."  I've since thought about using local backup solutions. I have been manually doing the copy and paste of local folders too, but those operations  are kind of long and tedius to carry out. I tried something called paragon backup and recovery too, but it worked about once and never again. For about five months now, I've just been lucky. But if the windows backup tool is actually good, maybe I should try it out.  Does that have anything to do with restore points at all, or is that something else?

Re: Gauging Interest in a reddit desktop (Windows & Mac) Application

Absolutely, man. I'm definitely not a fan of the web interface and do 97 percent of all browsing with the apollo app on my phone. The website is kind of weird and my screenreader focus seems to bounce around a lot and it is annoying.Having a desktop app would be great and pretty convenient for me, and I'd actually planned on writing one myself once I learned enough python.   I sort of envisioned a TW Blue-like layout, a treeview with your home feed at the top and all the subs you're subscribed to underneath. I kind of imagined a list of posts which would have the usual save, upvote/downvote, reply, etc as things you could tab to and to view the post and its comments I thought about another treeview with expandable and collapsable levels, because sometimes I like reading top level comments only and hate having to sift through 500 replies.  Those were just my notes I wrote down when I thought of doing this, but that would be my idea of a great desktop client... for windows, at least. Even if it looks nothing like that, I'd still take anything you got. Rock on, bro.

Re: iPhone SE 2020 edition

I'm very proud to still own an iphone 4S and an iPhone SE, first generation. I use my 4S as an iPod now and it still runs beautifully. Heck if I could, I'd still be using that as the phone I carried around every day. Unfortunately, I can't get the big sim cards anymore, and I don't think the 4 even supports 3g. As much as I love it though, my all time favorite design is the iPhone 5. It was just the right amount of thick and thin, and was just the right size too. It reminds me of an actual phone and not a slab of glass, like the new ones do. Personally, I don't care all that much about my devices being super slim. I'd give up some MM just to get rid of that camera bump. And I'll always miss the headphone jack... I'm still not used to that lol. I don't care much about 3d/haptic touch either, because it is most of the time more of a hendrance than anything. I must tap my screen harder than the average person, because when I double tap and hold something, a context menu pops up when all I wanted was the delete button. If Apple ever came out with another 4 inch phone, I'd buy it, even if it didn't have the latest and greatest in it. That most likely won't happen, but if it did, I'd be all for it.

The infographics show has been mentioned several times and I'm a big fan of its challenge episodes, especially. I also watch a lot of spector sound studios and a lot of those other popular youTube musicians, Jared Dines, Stevey T, Rob Scallon, Davey504, etc. As far as tech goes, Linus Tech Tips, Marquez Brownly, and the 9to5mac channel do it for me. I sometimes watch an EverythingApplePro video once and a while, but not so much anymore. I don't watch many list videos, but I do subscribe to list25, which is all right most of the time. There is one gaming channel I look at, Poofesure, which has content of a guy playing the old wii sports games. Those composed a major part of my childhood and so I like to revisit them from time to time there. And of course, there are about a zillion channels featuring TTS daniel reading posts from r/askReddit, and I click on  whichever ones are interesting.

Re: Distance Learning and Math Courses

Well, our college uses blackboard collaborate to still teach math, but that's not going awful well for me. My limited bandwith plus the professor's tendency to want to point their webcam at a slideshow and narrate makes it somewhat difficult to learn anything. I'm taking a statistics class, and so I know I have it a lot easier than a lot of the folks here taking calc, which happens to be somewhat more visual.  But still, I sure am having a lot of trouble.  I'm not doing too well with the homework either, as its on Pearson MyMath Lab and is pretty inaccessible. I've instead been provided a list of questions to answer that come from the textbook, which I obtained from BookShare. It's mostly all right, but for things like data tables I'm left in the dust. All numbers are written simply one after another and I have no idea what they really mean. Luckily, I haven't had to take a test yet, but I'm sure that'll be coming up before too long. Wonder how I'll do that.

Re: a jump on the road of code - code jumper released

2020-02-28 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : Thatguy via Audiogames-reflector

Re: a jump on the road of code - code jumper released

I actually got a chance to beta test this thing, so here are my thoughts.1. Price. This is not worth anywhere over 900 dollars in my opinion. Sure, it's good for teaching the basics of programming, but really shouldn't be priced that high. The material it's made uf isn't that expensive, sounds used don't require a license, etc. I also proofread the teaching guides for this product, and for the most part, all the lessons were designed to be implemented into a large classroom setting, where students were split into groups. To me, this just doesn't feel like an option for those kids who want to learn on their own time. Sighted children get tons of coding kit options with all kinds of designs; star wars, Harry Potter, etc, but for blind kids, you pretty much got swift playgrounds if you have an iPad at that age and that's about all.2. Usefulness. Code Jumper is good for the basics and that's about it. Sure, you have the ability to plug pods into multiple threads at once, but when you develop real multithreaded applications, there's much more to it than that. Sure, you have conditional statements, but all you get to choose from them is if one dial is set to something, then do whatever is connected to that dial's port. If the other dial is set to something else, do what is connected there. What you can't do is if one dial on the conditional pod is set to something, run a function, because there is no way to define a function. Classes don't exist either, and the overall design  sort of defeats the purpose of variables in my opinion. 3. Usability. Now, probably everything I put here won't matter, since it was last June when I got my hands on code jumper. But here's how it works. As described in post 1, it's pretty much a bluetooth speaker with ports for pods, and the ability to communicate with your pc about which pods are where. So, you turn on the main hub, they call it, and pair it with your computer. However, when beta testing, I got a unit with totally batteries, and I never knew that. I thought there was an issue with my computer, because it wasn't finding the hub. I had to ask a sighted person if any lights were on. So, if you're blind, there is no way to determine if you have a working unit, as the device makes no noise at all when you turn it on.So, once I finally got it paired, I opened up the code jumper app. It's arranged by thread groups. You tab, and you hear speech announce thread one grouping, and you tab again, you can see the pods connected in a list. The same for the other threads. There were also options for choosing the soundpack you wanted for each thread, and an option to import your own. Anyway, I got some pods plugged in, and I hit play on the hub. Coming through the built-in speaker was the most crackly and distorted sound I'd ever heard. Bluetooth was not at all transmitting the sound from the desktop app well, and eventually, I just changed my default sound device to the internal speakers and listened to my program through them. When I began to get the hang of code jumper, I decided to try plugging in the infinity plug to one of the loop pods to make it go on forever. I didn't know which plug it was, so I opened up the manual to read the description of all the pieces. and it said that it would be the plug with the infinity symbol on it. Um... ... ... what? What's the infinity symbol? I had the same problem with plus and minus plugs, which, you guessed it, had print plus and minus signs tactily embossed onto them. But that did me no good, since I had no idea what they looked like.I also noticed that the hub slows down the more things you plug into it. If you have four threads playing four different soundpacks, even though the desktop app is doing all the heavy lifting, it still glitches and really started lagging. The app also won't let you play the same sound on two different threads at once. If you had a kick and snare pattern (yes, there is a drum soundpack) going on one thread and a highhat pattern with a snare fill in it looping on another, the snare hits would not play at the same time, rather, the app would freeze, produce a garbled version of what two snares were supposed to sound like played on top of each other, and crash. Now I'll answer some of the questions that others have asked.@14, I understand you, but I think the main idea is to teach blind people to code via sounds. It isn't strictly musical, but is the default because it makes a lot of sense to do it like that, as you can code with pods based on how you think the song should sound. If it were up to me, I would have put vibration in there somewhere, so you'd have more options to choose from with conditional statements, as well as so deaf-blind users could also learn, but ehh.@8, loops, conditionals, constants, variables, and that's about it. The math is, as you said, just simple addition, subtraction, and randomizing. No, unfortunately, you can't type your

That's called latency. It's the time needed for bluetooth audio, or anything sent via bluetooth really, to get from your pc to your bluetooth device. When buying headphones, you always want to look for low latency products, because, at least for me, hearing NVDA announce something 2 seconds after I press a key is pretty irritating. My computer is slow enough haha. It's completely normal, so don't worry about that.

I'd just use the app, for whatever reason payPal likes unclickable buttons. You could try routing your mouse to the button with NVDA's hotkey for that, and click your mouse or trackpad, but I had the best luck on my phone. Keep in mind though, you gotta be 18, at least over here in the good old USA. I'm guessing you'd also have to be of legal age in your country to sign up, where ever that might be. You'll have to enter your social security number to prove how old you really are, so don't go trying to lie at it or nothing.

Also, when powering up the device, it performes an entire display check, filling in one line at a time with full cells and then resolving into the library view or the last book you were reading.

Re: Canute Braille Display Development With Russell Couper

I've actually beta tested this thing and to be totally honest, I'm not sure what all the hype is for. I'm not trying to be negative or anything but to me the product just seems rather impractical. It's pretty loud and refreshes quite slowly, I think when I was testing it total refresh time was between 20 and 30 seconds. Power down and up is pretty slow too. Now I do understand, this is cool because you get nine lines. At once. But the mechanics of the device slow it down quite a bit, and the volume of them isn't easy to deal with, especially in a classroom or office space.  As for the ports, I believe when I looked at it there were a USB, USB B, (Like you'd plug a printer cable into,) SD, and headphone jack. I'm not sure why the USB B port would exist, or the headphone jack, but I was told that it's much more easy to take away ports on future prototypes than it is to add them. My guess is that they plan on adding some kind of functionality at one point or another.

I've always had pretty good luck measuring to a little below my collarbone. I also prefer the foldable canes. Mine folds into five different segments, although I've seen folks with shorter canes than me fold theirs into six. I like a rolling marshmallow tip because using constant contact technique I tend to get more out of them and those pencil tips, which get stuck in things very easily. I also like a cane with ridged joints, as the smooth ones tend to actually slide apart while I'm using it.

Past names include mayonaise, (Because it's good() UserLTE (Because our area recently got 4G support) and many others I can't seem to remember. But I eventually stuck with That Guy, because I'd always get a kick out of people asking, "Well, who is That Guy?" And I would have no end of fun answering: "Just That, Guy. That one,. Just that one guy." I mean, it's pretty hard to get less general than that. I stuck with the theme when registering a domain name for my website and called it that-domain, from which I spawned that...@that-domain.com as a method of contact.

Now personally, I've never used the Zoom app, because I've never needed it. Voice memos, GarageBand, and my all-time favorite audio app, hokusai, all accept input from lightning mics. The mic itself is pretty basic, plug it in the lightning port, monitor with headphones, adjust gain with the large knob on the front. But the app... it is free, so you could probably go download it to see what the general level of accessibility is.

Re: My problem with the Blindy handbook

@49. I ran into this problem when I first thought this up a couple years ago. Part of my original idea addressed the issue of having software in the package that could only be downloaded from a specific source. I thought about simply having my installer deal with the freely distributable stuff, but for freeware required that it was obtained from the developer's site, I was considering something like the dropbox setup, where the executable downloads the full program from the internet. This way, the user stats aren't messed up, because we're still getting the package from them.

Re: My problem with the Blindy handbook

@30 precisely, which is why it was never again updated. That one release caused so much drama and strife... quite honestly, it's not worth going through all that again for any amusement. After rereading it last night because of this topic, I would be inclined to agree with @27, @28, and @29, there really isn't anything too special about it. A few things aren't strictly blind specific... it certainly isn't as if drama only happens in this community. Similar sighted communities experience drama, perhaps of a significantly different brand, yet drama nonetheless. As some of the installers are, in fact, cracked, I don't believe the original package should be posted anywhere here. If you would like to remove those and replace them with the trial versions, that would be fine then.  It is especially important that the cracked Jaws be removed, as that should never have been included. I personally would not like to see the handbook reuploaded, but, in saying this, I realize there is nothing I can do, because at this point, many people have a copy and it's only a matter of time before it gets linked to somewhere. However, because of all the controversy caused by the initial release, we will not be modifying or releasing any additional versions, nor would we prefer that it is brought to the forefront of the community's attention again.blindessentials.com is in fact hosted by JC-Hosting, but has been down for just under a year now because it was never restored after their systems crashed in December 2018.  I have chosen to allow this to remain the case by not paying for the domain renewal, and so it shall be until, perhaps, the multiple program installer becomes a reality. However, this time, all credit will be given where credit is due, all developers will be linked to from the site so that the end user knows exactly where and what they're getting, and the package will contain no handbook. I agree, it is a fantastic idea, but one which may never happen. But if it does, this release will be more thought-out and hopefully, more useful and less controversial.Thank you

Re: My problem with the Blindy handbook

Hello:At the top of the document I believe it states that the book was composed by That guy and those associates, which would be me and people associated with me. Allow me to attempt to explain our motives while composing this document. Keep in mind that I'm not trying to justify our actions. From the point that I was introduced to the blind community by being added into a random iMessage group with people I didn't know, which used to be a huge trend a couple years ago, I continually noticed several very strange characteristics that, living and interacting mainly with sighted people, I never really been exposed to before. I wasn't sure quite what to think about them, so I just mainly observed for a while and didn't do too much interacting. But one day, when setting up my computer after a reformat, I realized that I was installing a lot of programs that only blind people would use, like teamtalk, virtual audio cable, NVDA, TW Blue, and so on. So I put all those into a folder and had plans to ask someone to code me an installer which would run all those executables and all I'd have to do was press alt Y on the user account control dialog. That never happened, but I had also planned on distributing this package and calling it "Blindy Essentials," sort of like the Microsoft Security Essentials. It would be given to everyone who was just entering the blind community and get them up and  running within it as soon as possible.  As I was carrying out my plan, I began writing instructions for each program so everyone would be presented with everything they needed right out of the gate. Within those instructions I found myself outlining several of the odd characteristics of the blind community in relation to how to use some of the software, for instance, how to unsubscribe from channel messages on teamtalk because someone decided to start spamming. Eventually, I decided: "Hey, you know, why not just write a handbook for all this?" So I started writing. I shared it with a few friends and they found it hilarious, so I asked them to pitch in and write some sections. And thus, on December 31, 2017, the original blindy essentials package was released on Blindyessentials.com. It was big, I hear, and I applauded myself on a job well done. This edition's handbook did not contain names. But then, as more trends developed, I started to revise and update the book, which I planned to release in June of 2018, and did. That is the copy I believe @1 has issue with, and I can't really say i disagree with him. Allow me to try to forever set this straight. The purpose of the handbook was to poke fun at a handful of distinguishing characteristics of blind people and the way they acted, all under the guise of providing newcomers to the community a less shocking introduction. The first copy did an excellent job, and was not nearly as controversial. But the second one was, because, as the original poster made clear, we used names. We told ourselves this was because if the same people were around when someone first became part of the community, they'd have no hard time knowing which people were who and who was especially indicative of a certain trait, and boy did we ever hit the nail on the head. It was a very wrong thing to do, and I can't begin to imagine how the people we named were feeling after reading that, and we do apologize to any within the reach of this post. It was meant in the spirit of fun but quite clearly went far beyond that. Once again, I'm not trying for redemption here. I only mean to explain. This book was also written mainly by me when I was a lot younger and less mature, and I have since learned to think (longer, anyway) about the outcomes of my actions. Once again, we are glad some of you found it funny, as that is why we wrote it, but we should not have illustrated our point in such a way. Thank you.

I take back what I said in post six, the tones folder can also be written to using garageband for iOS. It just seems somewhat ridiculous to download a 1 plus gigabyte app for just that reason. I would love to read your guide, @7. iTunes isn't terrible but doesn't work every time for me. Other methods would be welcome.

Re: Creating Ringtones for iOS

In order to write to the tones folder on your iPhone, you must use iTunes. After you  have created your ringtone with audacity, you can open iTunes and ad it to your library by going to file/add file to library. Select your ringtone and press enter. To transfer it to your phone, click the iPhone button in iTunes and select tones from the device sidebar. Tab to sync all tones, check it, then press sync. The tone should then transfer.

Re: What are the Dumbest Scammers/Spambots You’ve Ever Seen

Sure, I've gotten calls promising me an extravagant, all-inclusive island getaway for the low low price of only 999 dollars. I usually hang up, but if I'm not busy, I'll have a friendly conversation with my scammer on the benefits of going on a trip like this and what kinds of things I can expect when I get there. Of course, you can't actually pretend to go until you swipe your credit card so your money can fund terrorist schemes and other such nonsense. I grabbed an old visa gift card I'd gotten a long time ago, had someone read me the digits on it, and after calling to see how much cash I had left on it (79 cents, by the way) I was ready. The next time I got one of those calls, I recited said digits to the nice foreign guy on the phone and he became angry with me when the transaction wouldn't run. So, I put down my phone and began laughing to myself. I picked it back up and I hear that generic call center music playing... I thought I hung up. Anyway, I waited on someone to pick up and after about 10 minutes, I get the same man telling me to stay on the line so he can make sure his company can call me at least 3 more times. I have never in my life seen that happen. I did get that one on recording actually. I've also gotten a lot of calls telling me I need to renew my car's warranty and I always have a good time yelling at the people on the other end of the line about how I'm blind and don't have a car.

@3 wow I feel dumb lol. You're having issues with Calc while I can bearly get through simple MAT150. Of course it doesn't help that our teacher isn't exactly the best teacher, and instead of explaining how he solves problems, says: "So in order to get this answer, you'd do this, and subtract that from here, ad here, divide both quadrants, multiply by x,y,z,i and then you'll just need to simplify." If only he would lol. I've been having to rely on YouTube videos of a guy who thankfully explains things a lot better than my professor, but aside from that, my whole course is based around Pearson MyLab, probably one of the least accessible online homework doing platforms out there. They've been sued several times but never really seem to fix anything. My teacher gave me the book the book the course is based on and told me to do the questions at the end of each section as homework instead, but, you guessed it, the book is in print. We tried to ask T-Base to braille it but the college was unwilling to pay for that. Luckily this is only dual credit so it's not the end of the world if I don't pass it, and I still get a TVI that has to read each and every little thing to me, but OMG my dude this is ridiculously more complicated than it needs to be.@1 sorry for going so off topic from your post.
