@pelantasSmartglass is far from perfect on IOS, since Microsoft haven't bothered about the accessibility(at least not yet).  The Windows 10Xbox App is actually better thanks to better accessibility, also allowing for more functions (with some odd quirks here and there).  You can't use external apps such as youtube and twitch with narrator yet, though we hope that functionality will come.  You can message people, start parties, change settings (most of them without sighted help anyway) and invite people to games, amongst other things.I hope that helps.  Moreover, I need to do an overhaul on the Audiogames.net article you mention above, but I'm not sure when that'll happen.

Kind of want the console myself now as well, but it's not worth it just for the one game... and since gaming is all I use my consoles for, the rest of the bells and whistles just aren't worth it. hahaha.

hello,upcoming Friday my xbox one will be delivered, am very glad i finally have made a decision.but another question, to sightless, or anyone else who can answer it.In the article of sightless is stated that the app smartglass of ios and other platforms can be a great help of controlling the menu's of the xbox one. Is smartglass able to do the biggest part of the job narator can do? in other words, when narator won't work, can i still make use of the various apps of the xbox menu simply by using smartglass? and then without narator.I saw i can do a lot with it already, searching through the store i already did. But what are some other examples i can perform with it?For example can i start a song via the youtube app of the xbox via smartglass?A few questions again ... but hopefully one of the members can tell me more about the possibilities of smartglass.will also google a bit.greetz mike

n work around it via a region switch to U.S, your language I believe can still change without effecting it, though it will change automatically.  I cangive more information later if you need it.Hope that helps.

@Assault_FreakWhen KI comes out on PC, Cross-play and Cross-buy functionality will be available (we don't know how it works yet).  Basically, the short answer is simply no.  We won't have to re-purchase the content over again.As for Back Compat game lists, I'm going to hav eto try and dig out the official table (it's long to say the least).  Not sure if any playable games are there yet, but keep an eye out as MK9 and IGAU are rumoured to come at some point.

Thanks for the info. I remember hearing about cross play and cross buy, I just didn't remember if that was correct info or not. lol As for backwards games, yeah, I'll definitely take a peek at that list if you can find it. Mortal Kombat 9 and Injustice don't really interest me, aside from the fact that I already have them for ps3. lol

Hi Assauly,Apologies for not dropping in on this thread to help any sooner than I have done.  The way prices work for gold, on my end at least, is that it shows two prices, in your example it would be something like $39.99 $0.00  - This would mean that when you check out it'll be free.  Also be sure that you are buying the s1 ultra edition addon and not a different one by mistake.It should be free for the entire month of January, so you have a little while to sort things out.As far as instructions go, to get narrator activated, if you have a kinect you can use the voice command, or if you don't, press the Xbox button and hold it.  When the controler  vibrates, let the button go and press menu (the button where start should be) and you should hear "starting narrator.From there, just have a play around with things and see how you get on, I'll be happy to help if I can.

so now that I'm borrowing my cousin's xbox1 for a while, not sure how long... does anyone have any basic instructions for getting started as someone blind? I'm not sure if my cousin's console is up to date for narrator... I hope it is. But any input is appreciated. Button / pannel layouts, menus in case narrator isn't there yet and I need to update myself, etc.

I'm really surprised you haven't taken the time to talk to a Microsoft representitive and let them try and help you.  You are the only person I'm aware of who has had this kind of issue and I can't find information on why this might be happening.  If you had twitter I'd have suggested you reach out to other gamers and see if they can help you as well.Sorry you're still having this issue, but I have no idea whether it's your browser getting the location settings muddled, or anything else in the million and one ways it could be acting up.

had this problem myself before, noticed my location and timezone in windows had gotten switched to US somehow, This caused me to be redirected to xbox live US sight all the time. Might be worth looking into.

With work, I haven't had time to do anything with MS support... and as for the timezone and language thing, my location is set to canada, and I just changed my format to english Canada. My timezone is on pacific, which is correct, so we'll see if this works. sorry to bother people with this, but this is just so needlessly complicated... I already have a credit card linked to my microsoft account. If the two are tied together, why can't I just use the same card?

Well, I tried it again, and it still doesn't work. It can't be my browser... it even says it's on the Canada site. I guess MS support is the only option, I just don't get why it's not finding my credit card that's already linked to my microsoft account, especially when it says right at the top of the page that if I link this card then I will be able to use it to buy things when I sign in with my microsoft account. the thing is... I already have a microsoft account. lol

Update. Just tried to google the question, and low and behold... the biggest thread in the xbox forums had the least amount of useful responses. All the techs said were check your region, check your region, check your region. Everyone, including me, had already stated that their region was set to Canada and or the UK... and were having the same problem. the solution didn't even come from an MS supporter... after a years' worth of posts. lol Turns out apparently, the language that displays on the xbox site is always defaulted to English US, even if your region isn't... so you have to change that manually. That having been said, I now have my trial... and am figuring out how to get the KI season 1 ultra addon. I've found it, but it still says $39.99 and invites me to join gold at the top of the page. Does it not become free until the checkout process? Just waiting on my cousin to lend me his xbox 1... then to buy a converter to use my dualshock controllers. lol

xbox 1 and payment information?

This issue still persists, and I'm seriously getting annoyed... now that I'm trying to get on the xbox platform and enjoy it, microsoft isn't dang well letting me do the most important thing... just one question. I have a microsoft account, and I have a credit card linked to it. Does xbox live require a different credit card or one to be linked to it that is separate from the microsoft account one? It still won't let me change countries or show the Canadian provinces. Yet my region is set to Canada... and I'm even using the canada site! What in the whole world of gaming is going on here? sorry for the rant, but this is seriously starting to tick me off...
