Ahoy thereI don't suppose you've had any success with tintin++ yet? I ask because its of interest to me as well, the only mac client that seems to have a sound pack is tintin and if I can access biriani and other muds and perhaps try and create basic sound packs on the mac, it'd be quite nice.I can't access any mud without windows, or I'd ask on the biriani sound pack boards for the instructions on how to get the tintin pack to work and how in the name of all that's holy install tintn.Perhaps someone on here could do so and see if anyone's willing to lend a hand.grryf

Re: Tintin or another client?

hia good part of mudder is that voice-over will finish reading the tekst before it hops over to the system notifications. this could be a good or a bad point, depending on how you could interpretate it. but i don't have complains about mudder, however i would wish there were soundpacks for it available ...But as a standard mudclient it isn't that bad.greetz mike

Re: Tintin or another client?

Hi.The real issue is to make VOiceover to respond as most people would like it to do. In most programs, Voiceover gets interrupted while reading when new text is popping up on the screen. I'm not sure if there is any way to let VOiceover read all the text fluently, without getting interrupted. Of course the system voice could be used for that, but then you need to have a way to quickly stop the speech, and start reading using VOiceover when needed.

Re: Tintin or another client?

Well as regards making soundpacks work, I've generally seen soundpacks come in two flavours. There are those  like the MushZ client for Alter which tend to be based on a specific client, have massive amounts of scripting and won't work outside it (despite the fact I prefer Vipmud, I do use MushZ for alter for this reason). Then however, most soundpacks I've seen just use streight off msp, mud sound protocol,  especially the official ones created by mud administrators themselves such as the materiamagica or six dragons ones (the six dragons one is actually pretty awesome). I see no reason why those! wouldn't work on any client that supports msp.

Yeah, the problem happens to be that at present, there is no clear instruction on making that particular client work as it pertains to the newest version of MacOS.  One must install dependancies and other such wonderful things; it's not an app you can grab from the appstore.

Ahoy there.Having gotten a mac myself recently(long story) I'm sort of in the same boat as you.Even if you were able to make a mud client work on OS X, the the mud client will most likely not support the sound packs that exist for other clients. I.E windows mud clients.I have no clue about alter, but there seem to be a few sound packs for tintin++ on biriani. I haven't tried any of them myself, and couldn't say if any or 1 of them is better than the other. And considering the fact that there are sound packs for the tintin client, I'm thinking it should work fairly well if not great with voiceover or I dam well hope so,at any rate.edit: the @soundpacks command when logged into biriani should bring up a list of all the sound packs submitted by their developers to biriani.

Re: Tintin or another client?

@nightshade:This is not a matter of passing the keys to the virtual machine, that's already done. The insert key:The insert key is not on the laptop keyboard as default. There are multiple ways of setting this up. What I do is to use a nice program called Sharp keys:https://sharpkeys.codeplex.com/In this program, you can map whatever keys you want. The right command and option key is the right windows and right alt keys on the virtual machine, so you won't need those, since you have the same keys to the left of the spacebar. So you can just map those keys to an insert key and an applications key. Please note that since you are using Windows xp for some reason, you need the service pack installed to install sharp keys.Control and arrow keys:This is not something related to VmWare, but the Mac OS.Go into system preferences, keyboard, select the shortcut tab (I'm sorry if that&
#039;s not what it's called in english) scroll through all the commands and remove the commands which uses ctrl up, down, left and right arrows. Those opens things like the launch pad and other things which I don't remember, which just is extremely annoying in my opinion.Just ask if you need more help.

Perhaps that's where we come in...  We will code it, I tell you!  We must do this thing or else do this thing!I don't know which I find more upsetting, the idea that Windows is so much more appreciated and widely accepted, or the fact that it's probably going to stay this way as long as OSX sticks around because it isn't as widely accepted.  all the same, I still love my mac.

Re: Tintin or another client?

@SLJMy main issue is getting all keys to pass straight through to the VM. I'm using VMware 8 with an xp VM if that makes any difference.I need an insert key for NVDA to work properly, and I believe last time I tried it I had issues with arrows working strangely, and control arrow combinations. I believe control command f gives you full screen view which seems to help and I might have that combo confused a bit. That seems to help but I still have the minor issues outlined above. If someone would only create an accessible client like VIPMud for the mac.

Re: Tintin or another client?

Hi, and welcome to the forum. As far as I know, there is not anything which will let you install a sound pack for a mud on the Mac.I was about to write that you can get an awesome app called Mudder which is very accessible, but they have taken the app off the app store for some sad and strange reason... I don't know about any other accessible solution.Alter aeon have a client in the app store. The input box is accessible, but I can't get the output to read in any ways. So, in other words: I think a virtual machine is the way to go, and it works great. I have used it since 2009. Regarding command tab and option tab, this is a matter of getting used to it. Do you have any other issues with the virtual machine?

I used to know how to make keyboard focus go completely into the VM when I had my macbook pro back in 2012, 2013 but I can't remember what I did to make that work.Any thoughts or assistance would be greatly appreciated
