I need a little help with the marriage record of Simao Furtado de Menonca
and Maria Pais de Conde (bottom of right page)
This is a fragmented record - the left margin is missing as well as the top
of portion of this record. I know that I have the correct bride/groom as I
have their names
I need help with the obitos of Maria de Bettencourt - left page, 2nd entry.
This is the obitos of Maria de Bettencourt who died September 22, 1759; she
was the widow of Manoel de Conde Sodre and she was 65 years of age - that I
can read with no problem.
I think the record states that she is
I can’t help with the name but the date on the reverse side of the record looks
like 12 Jun 1698. If the records are in order the record before looks like 10
Feb 169? I would put the date of marriage Bef. 12 Jun 1698.

On Sept 22- 1759, died Maria de Betencor viuva (widow of) de Alferes Manoel
de Conde Sodre, 65 years old, more or less, left a will given verbally, and
left her terca to her daughter, Maria de Jesus wife of Manoel de Betencor
as a conditional wedding gift.

It appears Domingas Furtada was already widowed and her husband was
Baltazar da Luz. She died April 16, 1697.

I don't know how common Monte is on Sao Miguel, but there is a Monte family from Sao Miguel from the late 1600s that settled in Terceira.But I suppose there could be a lot of ways and reasons a person could start using do Monte as a surname. Maybe they first lived in the castle at Monte do Brasil,
