It appears, as Denise stated, the priest simply omitted, by mistake I
assume, the name of the father. So he was not named. The record says, com
Phelipa de Samtiago e de sua May (may with accent above y, looks like
mother but is error or poorly written) sic mulher Joana da Costa todos
moradores
I think the top record on the right side could be my Felipa do Santiago. I have
never seen the parents recorded in this manner before. Is it stating that the
father died before Felipa was born, or is it saying the parents were not
married and he is a widower? Or maybe something else completely?
Well put!

I am hoping that the attached is Izabel de Resendes first marriage record.
The record starts at the bottom the page and continues at the top of the
following page. Can someone please tell me her mother's surname Maria
and what village they are from. If listed, where Izabel was baptized.
Rick,
I can not say yes or no at this time. I found her casamentos to my 6th
great grandfather Bento Pacheco Rapozo on 11 Jan 1731 in Maia. Here's the

Hi,
Not that this is helpful, but my family is from Rabo de Peixe and I have a
relative named Francisco Martins Gouveia. I dont know his dates of birth
but I a assume its in the mid 1800's. I'm just curious if he is related to
any or your ancestors from the same time period.
On Thursday,
Hi Sean,
I have done a lot of research in Rabo de Peixe and I think that all those
Martins de Gouveia are connected. As far as I know they all descend from
Manuel Martins Mascarenhas, from Rabo de Peixe born around 1610, and Maria
de Gouveia, from Matriz da Ribeira Grande born on 1 sep 1613.
Thanks Kathy Rick! I know I'm getting old but I, like Rick, tend to skip
the emails that are so small! I had an email from a cousin that was so
small and light that I wrote back and said to please enlarge for these old
eyes!! He made it so big and dark I had to laugh, but I could read it
fine!!
