Velho Quintanilha being possibly the most prominent one. although I don't
know its full history, in the continent it dates even earlier.
Quinta as well as fifth can also mean a farm described in my
Jesse.
The name is definitely Quarenta.
Manuel's grandfather already carried that name and in Manuel's fathers baptism
even names him as Quarenta rather than de Medeiros Quarenta. Chances are
that the name started out as a nickname (alcunha) and was ended up being
recorded as a surname.
