I think there was a Paiva family that settled in Hamakua on the big island, as
well. Someone posted their tree here, and, while the many of the names appear
similar, I haven't been able to completely match them all up with my own
relatives. Apart from the Paivas in Hamakua, I had Mendonca
Luzia Inacia Araujo de Silva: Genealogias de S.Miguel e Santa Maria (Rodrigo
Rodrigues) Pg 296. While I am not directly related to Luzia, I have several
links to the Barbosa da Silvas, from whom her husband descends. One of those
links is to Francisco Barbosa da Silva as an extended 4th cousin.
Eliseu, I have Anacleto Pacheco as part of the Barbosa da Silva line, dating
back to Rui Esteves Barbosa x Filipa da Silva - the parents of Cavaleiro Rui
Lopes. As I mentioned to another poster, most of my Barbosa da Silva linkage is
incidental to the women they married - who, in some cases,

Hi Eliseu!
I'm new to the group (and I'm sorry if this post is improperly constructed).
I notice that you have family in Sao Miguel and that you
have ancestors with the SOUSA family name. Do you know anything about a

Hi Edward R,
Rabo de Peixe is in the council of Ribeira Grande. So when you are on the

Ilha: Sao Miguel
Concelho: Ribeira Grande
Freguesia: Rabo de Peixe
You are doing it right. I looks like they are uploading alphabetically by

HI George S,
I'm not Eliseu, but in order to make a connection with anyone, you will
need a freguesia/village. Just knowing Sousa on Sao Miguel isn't enough.
It's like looking for Smith in New York.
You'll need 3 pieces of info to get started: Name, date, and place. You

Thanks Cheri
I thought all the records where listed for San Miguel so I was trying to find
the records in what was posted.
Now that I know Ribeira Grande isn't listed yet I will come back to it later.
I am still a beginner but read this site daily for better understanding.
Also thanks for all
HI Edward R,
Not all the records are listed for Sao Miguel, Graciosa, Santa Maria, and

ancestors from those islands.
As a beginner, keep reading! And try to help out with the translations
too. That way, when your

I have two GUIOMAR PACHECO as direct ancestors. One is married to Heitor

Moniz Furtado.
I have no link to a Manuel de Paiva...
Would you you be so kind to let me know how do they link?
Eliseu Pacheco da Silva
Dano,
The Francisca Rosa you are looking for is the granddaughter of Anacleto
Pacheco and Maria de Paiva?
