Óbitos from Ribeirinha (Terceira) from 1880 to 1887 seem to be missing.
The link below is labeled 1880-1889, but only contains records from 1888
and 1889. Are the missing years unavailable?
Got it. Thanks. I still think the old tried and true is better.

My husband was born in Bretanha, Azores in 1964. I have the names of both
my in-laws, parents and grandparents but have had NO LUCK finding anything
from Sao Miguel! Any help you could give me would be appreciated.
Thank you in

Thanks Linda for posting this both in Portuguese and the translation; I printed
it so I can use it as a guide for myself as I try to read these records. Very
helpful.

Hi Cheri, I don't know if I got wrong the question of Bob Camacho, but I
think what he would like to know (and me too) is where they passports are
stored.
I think for each passport issued and delivered to a certain person there is
a copy retained by certain authority. I saw a huge archive of
I don't know if you could track which ship he was using. One of the
reasons for a stopover in Terceira could be boarding another ship (probably
to its final destination).
From each island he was coming ?
I think Terceira was a big ship HUB by that time - with ships to Brazil and
US.

For what I understood when searching passports in Torre do Tombo they were
issued for each trip a person or multiple ones (I saw passports for a
family and it servants) want to do. It served more as a description of
the persons were traveling to be used at the destination point as there

Roberto,
Yes, you misinterpreted Bob's question. I answered Bob's question.
Your question is different. The passaportes are very large ledger books.
Whatever is in existence to this day is stored at the respective archive:
Ponta Delgada on Sao Miguel, Angra on Terceira, and Horta on Faial.
Roberto,
Only 3 ports in the Azores: Ponta Delgada (S. Miguel), Angra, (Terceira),
and Horta (Faial).
Sometimes you can track the ship and sometimes you can't.

Cheri,
Adding to what you said, once in a great while, you will see a ships
passenger list naming Flores as the port of origin with Boston or New
Bedford as the destination. Do you know what was happening there? Was
