Yes that was a typo ,My grandfather got married to her in the USA in 1895 so i researched for passports from St Michaels 1895 1894 and so forth until i came upon the missing passport records where i think it would be. Then again i was looking For Jose da Silva Margarida so what part of that

You typed somewhere about the 1700s. Sao Miguel passaportes do not go back to the 1700s. Unless you made a typo. You should probably start a new thread, title it with her name, approximate year of birth, and Sao Miguel island. In the body put what research you have done on her in the U.S. Maybe

Paul, Knowing someone was from somewhere on Sao Miguel (70 or so churches, although a few less churches in the 1770s) is like knowing someone is from the United States and you don't know which of the 50 states to look in. And you can't use Ancestry to search either, as the CCA isn't set up like

An index is an alphabetical list of names, typically found at the end of a book. The book is usually chronological. So the index usually lists the content by name. Or at least now-a-days, in America. I don't know in what parish you are looking. If you are on FamilySearch or Ancestry.com, they
