Thanks Niels Well, I've just tried again and the 8120 is not recognised whether the SD card is mounted or not. I checked /proc/bus/usb/devices and the file is zero bytes in both circumstances. By the way, this is one of the only things I need Windows for. I have to use the Blackberry Desktop soft

OK, sorry ignore previous message, I screwed up the installation. Anyway, barrybackup now runs (with Blackberry mounted) but gives error "Backup error: Bad packet size. Packet 1028. DataSize0: 512. Required size: 6" This happened while backing up "Content Store" I'll keep testing 2008/8/10 D
