Birders,
I did a scope scan of Kempenfelt Bay from Minet's Point Park in Barrie at
lunch time today.
In amongst hundreds of Common Loons (I estimated ~650) out on the bay was
one (and possibly two, but never saw two at once) *adult Pacific Loon*, I'm
assuming this is the same bird reported by
Hello Ontbirders!
A good bird in the GTA for you winter listers. Sorry, this is a second-hand
report but it comes with pictures on this eBird checklist from Rae
Hutchinson -- https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S51658347, so figured it was
worth posting.
He had the bird along part of the Oak Ridges
Hi Ontbirders,
This morning before work I stopped in at 11th Line about 400m east of
Tottenham Road near Beeton. Thanks to Dave Szmyr's help, I found the Willet
tucked-in about 150-200m north of 11th Line on a narrow, long puddle in the
muddy field. Scope would make viewing much easier but bird
Ontbirders,
Today I took a lunchtime drive to the Minesing "Ice"lands at the top end of
McKinnon Road (on the eastern edge of Angus). I figured with this nice
sunshine and strong NW winds it could be good for an eagle.
Well, I was wrong, it was good for FOUR eagles - 2 adult Golden + 2 adult
Ontbirders,
For a lunchtime break today, I took a quick drive up to Ravenshoe Rd, just
west of Woodbine (as previously reported by Kevin Shackleton) and was
rewarded with 4 species of goose, many hundreds of Canadas with 1 Ross's
Goose, 2 Cackling Geese and 2 Greater White-fronted Geese. The
Birders, after about 1.5hrs of searching one of our group of 7 found the bird

this is just 100m from the main trail out of the residences on
Hi Ontbirders,
I headed out to Reesor Pond during lunch today and easily saw the Whimbrel
previously reported by Stan Long, there were 3 birds on the more northerly

Great Egret (long plumes flowing in the wind).

Hello Ontbirders,
My brother and I just had the Franklin's Gull fly over our heads and around the
3 southerly ponds at the Blenheim Sewage Lagoons and then kept flying off to
the south. We watched it for several minutes noting the dark grey mantle,
black wingtips, darkish underwing with white
Hi again Ontbirders,
While at the Blenheim sewage lagoons my brother noticed a wet area in the field
north of the lagoons so we headed up to Allison Line which runs across the
north side of the lagoons. Here we had 3 Ruddy turnstone, several Least
Sandpiper and Dunlin as well as 2 Lapland
Hello Ontbirders,
Today I spent a couple of hours around 11am at Col Sam Smith Park in south
Etobicoke. A beautiful male Harlequin Duck was on the east side bay about
50-100m off the first east side rocky point, it was associating with a flock of
25-30 Bufflehead. Also here were 35+
Hello Ontbirders,
I headed to Reesor Pond this morning, arriving at 9:45, and found the GWFG
right at the base of the east spit in front of the entrance to the pond off
Reesor Rd. All field marks looked good except the belly that was much
whiter than I recall for this species, comparing to field
