I helped a friend over the weekend to install avast 5.exe.
everything went well.
however, he is not receiving any audio when the program gets updated, or,
when a scan is finished.
I got him to open avast from desktop,
he clicked on settings,
ctrl+tabbed to the sounds tab,

as I indicated, all the boxes in the sounds tab are already checked.
for example;
when an update is installed,
he receives no audio confirmation, however there's an information screen
which alerts him that the update was successful.

have your friend go back into the settings and make sure everything is checked
off including using voice over sound.
if everything is checked off the voice should work on the automatic updates ,
scans and when the avast finds a virus in your friends email.

It is a list of names and numbers and so on for people she needs to contact,
but the extention is something like docx that's d o c x.
My computer don't knowwhat to do with it and is suggesting she go to control
panel
I believe docx is an extension for MS Word in Office2007.

I couldn't find a .DOCX file extension but, I did find a .DOX
extension. This is what I found;
.dox text file (MultiMate 4.0)
I don't have a .DOX file to attempt to assign a file to open it. So,
what you can try is;
