Roger,
Before I scrapped the gas-tank in the El Camino in favor of
a fuel cell I used some strips of high density incilation
material I purchased from a local truck and heavy equipment
supply house. I then used 3M gasket sealer to glew them to
the support straps. I never actually ran this setup
Finishing my basement. Any tips on how to install moldings? How can I
do the correct measures without my talking tape.
Guy,
Just use a regular tape measure with a good solid lock on the tape. Then
fit the tape to the length you need to fit into, then extend it another
three inches. Make your cuts. Then keep nibbling off the end until it
the molding fits into the space.
Or, if you are like me, you will cut
I can tell you one thing about that primer bulb, it will develop a very
small crack and, when it does, the engine will start and then die because
the vacuum is compromised and will not pull the fuel...
Yup, I also liked the old choke method a whole lot better.

Here is an update on the never-ending saga of my deck project. It still
amazes me how long it takes to get things done. Between working all day,
having other things to do in the evenings, and then having to take
weekends off here and there for family gatherings and such hinders just
how much
Hi Guys,
Well you all have almost inspired me enough to attempt an
8x24 storage loft over one end of my shop.
I am thinking 4x8 boards 24 feet long bolted through the
outside block wall and another 24 foot long 4x8 bolted to 4
diameter support poles. The bottom of the floor would be 8
feet off
Larry asked:
What if any special tools will I need?
This new project of yours is just a ploy to get new
tools. You men are all alike! Hehe I don't know what special
tools you'll need, but I'm sure you'll think of something.
Have fun.

Hi Larry,
Only suggestion I might make is to go with a thicker plywood floor.
Something like 1 inch or so.
If you would like this project to take forever I would be glad to lend a
hand. (LOL)

OK-OK I am so busted but I promise darling it won't cut
into
the Corvette or diamond ring fund.
You don't know me at all, do ya? Make that the truck and
kayak funds you won't cut in to, and we got a deal.
What will you be putting on this loft? Kayaks
Larry,
2X6 joists on 24 inch centers sounds a bit light to me. What are you
planning on storing in this loft, and remember, what you are planning on
storing up there, and what might find it's way up there, may be very
different things.
Your chop saw with a wood blade will be helpful for
thanks :)

Dear Larry:
I would suggest a five quarter oak tongue
and groove floor would go nicely, and provide great strength.
One way to save money would be to buy your own small saw-mill, there are
some nice band-saw model, and the cost of oak logs is much less per thousand,
than those boards
Dan,
I don't know of any other way to make those poles stand up
straight unless I welded c/8 steel plates to the bases and
shot bolts into the floor. The floor at that end of the shop
isn't perfectly flat and I might end up with a pole farm if
I attempt to set them on the surface.
You are wright,
Good idea cliff...
Then maybe I could change careers, get married and get some
face time with that guy that does all of the crazy ass wood
working on what the hell is that show Yankee wood shop or
something.
My neighbors are so shell shocked from race cars they would
probably welcome a sawmill
Hi Larry,
With a 24 foot span I would consider 16 on center as opposed to 24.

Larry,
Yes, we need to get together and plan this thing out. Can't be too careful
you know. (LOL)
When we are working hard planning this project it will require some
libation. Being thirsty could cause us to not make sound decisions.
Now, as for the Corvette, Matchbox does make several nice ones.
What does matter is that this is a family kind of list so watch the language
please.

Well said my friend...
The project is going to be inside my shop on my property

Hello Dan,
My but you make me feel so much better.
I have a small deck (8x32) on the South side of my mobile home which was
started last summer.
Interestingly enough I originally contracted with a local handyman to
construct the deck. It took him forever to set the uprights during which he

sounds to me Larry like you have a plan but. oh yes. but. get a couple

you will have a loft going in no time. only problem with that loft is.

Hi,
My electrical math is shallow.
But I thought, that volt times amp will give you a number equalling the
amount of watts that one can pull from a circuit.
A standard 117v at 15A is 1750 (1755 to be exact)
I thought this came up while we were discussing how a (rounded off) 120v
device can't
