As I continued working during lunch hours I decided to take a break of 20
minutes and head to Mundy. I heard the Winter wren singing, so I decided to
track him down to have a good look. I found in company of two families of six

Canada Warbler - To me it sounds like 'Black-throated blue not green But you

I spent an hour in the Hawthorn Orchard today. It was very quiet except for a
few species.
South-end had a few Nashville Warblers and a Meadowlark singing. Somewhere in
the middle of the orchard there was a new arrival - Common Yellowthroat and

Finally the Catbirds and Baltimore have arrived at EIRW and in Hawthorn
Orchard, but my yard Catbird is not come. But no Common Yellowthroat yet.
Today's other arrivals are 3 or 4 Least Flycatchers, 4 singing Nashvilles in
different locations, one Yellow-rumped Warbler and one Great-crested
Addition Mundy were a Least Flycatcher, American Redstart and a Hermit Thrush.
Winter Wren continues to sing form shrubbery on Mundy slope form behind USDA
building. No Co Yellowthroat or Catbirds yet in Mundy.

us a good look for long time. There were three Rough-legged Hawk on airport
property two were brownish and the third one was slightly darker morph.

house at 3.39 am. It passed over my house over a minute..

I am not sure which part of EIRW you were running Linda. Between Honness and
Mitchell street there were at least 20 Song sparrows and many singing in the
morning when I walked. There are also about 4 male Carolina wrens in the
stretch too. Two of them were singing cheery songs.

I came across a beautiful flock of about 350 Snow Geese flying towards the lake
in the blue sky, at least that is what the intention seemed to be. Some of them

On the way to work I came upon several species of noisy birds.
A pair of Carolina Wrens were goofing around, while the male was trying to sing
different songs to show off his vocabulary.

I was shoveling snow at the end of my driveway when I heard something behind me
about two feet away and a branch shake. So I looked back to hear a cardinal
click and from corner of my eye I caught Coppers Hawk fly away. I thought the
cardinal was saved. Just in five minutes I finished my drive
By looking at the subject title I was not sure if I want to open the email or
not. But it seems I was fooled by the title. Sounds like an interesting app!

?I should say I was lucky, finally I got to see the Tufted duck in few glimpses
before it every time dived to eat something! Initially, I scanned the flocks
but no luck. Joe Wing was standing nearby so I went to ask him if he had seen
it recently. Then both of us almost simultaneously saw
Just in time when I was listening to a screech owl call on my computer! I was
trying to identify what sounded to me like a Screech Owl from recordings of my
recent Ecuador trip. I finally nailed it down as Choco Screech Owl Megascops
centralis. It amazingly sounds like our screech owl, but only
?I decided to go look for shrikes and larks and buntings. But here is what I
found.
As I was crossing Route 13, I got a ping on my phone that means something rare
has bee seen. So checked the message and there was Jay's message about Tufted
Duck. So I spent some time watching the waterfowls
Foster Pond is in Finger Lakes National Forest. It probably is not in the
basin. But I have not looked at the details where the water flows!

Oh I forgot to point where the pond is on the map. It is close to the yellow
box “see inset A” but on the left hand side adjoining the black dotted line in

If you are interested in seeing the comet then today right now is good chance.
It is almost on top of your head when you are slightly looking to the South
west.
If you know where the V of the Taurus is (i.e Aldebaran and five stars that
make a V shape) is pointing towards the comet
I happened to be reading about Gyr Falcon on Genesee list and when I looked up
there was a falcon flying in front of my window and by the size I think it was
a Peregrine, may be the same one which was reported by Marty today morning. It
headed straight towards the Vet Tower along Tower road
Just now a sharpie flew over my office window with something in its talon.
