Re: [cayugabirds-l] stranded common loon to be rescued Sun.
I stopped by Goetchius Wetland Presreve this morning (4/18) on my way to work and did not see this bird. Hopefully, this is an indication that the bird was successfully rescued. There was a nice pair of COMMON MERGANSERS close to the road and the drainage pipe that might have snared the loon. I am going to write here what I feel needs to be. Birders! Please resist the urge to witness the rescue, and potentially compromise the rescue effort. . Stay away and let the rehab person do her job. Read about it here - LATER! Please!! On Sat, Apr 16, 2011 at 9:21 PM, Glen wrote: > Yes, on second thought I probably should not have posted the time. RE: [cayugabirds-l] Stranded Common Loon
I came across that loon too today, Glen, and watched it make a few frustrated efforts to get going in that short waterway. I found out from John Confer that it's been around since yesterday, and that he and others are coordinating with the DEC to try to assist the bird out of there at some point this weekend. Fingers crossed that that loon gets safely on its way.
