Russ: Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, none of the log files, nor the Windows Event Log, shows anything related to the search service. The log files show the error once someone tries to perform a search against a stalled collection but nothing about the collection when it stalls.

I have the old Homesite 5.5, but you'll need a product code to install that. If you have it installed I can give you the most recent tag updates (which I also have).The last supported version of CF was 8.01. If you want I can sent you those updates off-list. Let me know how you want them. The

+1 to anything Dave says Keep in mind, even a really nice NAS is slower to access than a set of RAID 5/10 - 10k/15k drives. It's going to castrate your machine to some degree. I think you're going to have a very difficult time running CF on the NAS directly - if it's even possible. By
