Re: SOT: Holy Grail? Hosting?
If you wanna deal with crap like this, CT can help you. They charged us for a domain name change. It was a bit odd because, WE HAVEN'T CHANGED OUR DOMAIN NAME! :) Oh, and when I renewed our SSL cert, they created a new one, and charged us for both a renewal AND a new one. Now you see one of the reasons I'm moving. :) Hell Sir, I have confirmed that the name change was done in error on your account, I apologize for the inconvience, we are removing this charge from the account and applying credit for the charge. As for the SSL certification, the Sales Department can assist you with the questions pertaining to the certificate. I am forwarding this ticket to the Sales Department to assist you now that we have resolved the name change issue. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. RE: change http://127.0.0.1:8500/CFIDE/administrator/index.cfm to http://localhost/administrator/index.cfm
Hi: I know it's very basic but I don't know how! I have installed CF8 for a while and it works fine but I wonder How I can change my address from http://127.0.0.1:8500/CFIDE/administrator/index.cfm to http://localhost/administrator/index.cfm I mean I change my default server ro local host istead of the current 127.0.0.1 The name localhost maps to the loopback address 127.0.0.1. So, you can use this: http://localhost:8500/... instead of: http://127.0.0.1:8500/... If you want to use a port other than the default 8500, you can either hook CF to an external web server like Apache or IIS, or you can configure the JRun web server to listen on 80 instead of 8500: http://www.adobe.com/support/coldfusion/adv_development/config_builtin_webse rver/ Unless you have a specific reason for changing this, though, I'd recommend that you just leave it alone. I used Viux for many years. VPS for $75/mo up to 30 domains. CF7, Plesk interface and RDP. Good service -- no extra charges for support of any kind. All tags enabled. I am now moving everything to EnterHost. From about $250 for a CF8 dedicated box (I'm going for the $300 option) with no domain limit. Plesk is $optional. I prefer RDP anyway. When we hit the 50 site mark, at $300/mo that puts each site at $6/mo. Re: Function name capitalization?
At least with the conventions of the languages I'm familiar with, you use a lower case first letter on your identifiers, unless the identifier is a type (class or interface) name. Other identifiers (local variables, instance variables, functions, methods, etc.) usually start with a lower-case letter. So you'd have a User CFC, with a getUsername method. That's just convention, of course - the language doesn't care. And with CF's lack of case sensitivity in most cases (though not every case), it rarely matters. I'd definitely recommend consistent casing, however. cheers, barneyb On Feb 17, 2008 1:15 PM, Jim McAtee [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I see a lot of CF code being posted using the convention of starting CF function names, both built-in and user-defined, with a lower case letter. Re: Function name capitalization?
I always use uppercase on functions and methods, and lowercase on variables. I think I get this from an old C or C++ language convention. However, I have never seen any javascript that does anything but lowercase for the first letter of method names and of course js is case sensitive so it matters. Programming for the web, I'd guess that was a good convention to stick with - I just can't kick my old habits ;) Dominic On 17/02/2008, Barney Boisvert [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: At least with the conventions of the languages I'm familiar with, you use a lower case first letter on your identifiers, unless the identifier is a type (class or interface) name. StructKeyExists is faster since it targets a specific variable scope instead of incrementally searching though all scopes. Inconsistent Variable Names Across Data Sources
We have several data sources such as Active Directory, home-built databases and purchased databases. Each of these data sources may have different conventions for similar data elements. For example, Active Directory uses givenName and sn. Our main business system uses FIRST_NAME and LAST_NAME. While another database may use FirstName and LastName or firstName and lastName. Knowing that you can't change the schemas for many common data sources, do you make any attempt to use consistent variable names in your CFM pages?
