the requirement for the jakarta vdir I just find annoying, so I am using
the boncode handler with CF, then all you need is the handler and nothing
else, so you can enable/disable cf via the web.config alone.

Do you have iis6 compatibility mode installed? Rgis can cause odd behaviour.
If so remove all connectors, then remove iis6 mode then recreate connectors

GOT IT!

It was a setting under IIS:

Under "Handler Mappings", double-click on the handler for ".cfm". Then
click the "Request Restrictions..." button. It should open to the
"mappings" tab. The "Invoke handler only if request is mapped to:" checkbox
should NOT be checked.

Re: CF 404 handler non being invoked on IIS

2015-02-18 Thread Mark Spence

Sorry for the misunderstanding, but he 404 is for pages the are ses product
pages. So I need the content to be returned to the user. An example would
be thus:

http://www.mysite.com/productpages/category/product-103/index.cfm

I am pulling "productpages" to see that it is a product page and "103" to
get the product id. All I need is for CF to catch the 404 error, invoke
the onmissingtemplate in Application.cfc, and everything works. This is
what is happening on the live site with IIS and CF9.

The problem with using IIS's custom error page for 404 is that the
requested template variable is the 404 page itself, which doesn't work with
my code. I am hoping that there is something I can configure in CF and IIS
rather than rewriting everything just for the development server.

The code I posted in my last response was just to show that it seems that
Application.cfc is not being invoked, the response is being discarded, or
something else is going on.

RE: CF 404 handler non being invoked on IIS

2015-02-18 Thread Fernandez, Miguel

Yes you can use the onMissingTemplate handler in Application.cfc if you wish,
it just overrides the ColdFusion admin setting.
I think you missed the gist of that article that I referenced. Basically there
are three scenarios; use IIS custom error page, use ColdFusion missing template
handler or use both. The caveat's mentioned are that the onMissingTemplate
handler cannot be used to return contents to the user, it should only be used
to log/email/whatever the event. If you want to return a custom message to the
user then use IIS custom error page to do that (calling a ColdFusion page). Or
you can use both. The key for that scenario is to have each pointing to a
different ColdFusion file (when using the admin setting). In your case, using
the method in Application.cfc, just do your logging or whatever and then return
the 404 status code to IIS so it will display it's custom error page. It looks
like you are setting a "200 OK" in your method. You don't want to do that as
IIS will not know about the error.

This is a try based upon the article but I think it is in vain and would only
apply to a specified missing template handler page.

I'm not sure what to try at this point. I could be off by one little setting,

site?

I can't believe that it is this problematic to get CF to be passed the 404
error and invoke the onmissingtemplate. What changed so drastically in iis
8 and cf11 that something so basic is so broken?

Re: CF 404 handler non being invoked on IIS

2015-02-17 Thread Mark Spence

I'm trying to make do with using a custom 404 handler in IIS but the
requested template variable in CF resolves to to 404 handler rather than
the url of the requested page. This is getting complicated as this is only
a work around for local development and I don't want to change to much and
break the live site.

Does anyone have any other pointers on how I can get this working like the
live site?

sorry for my lack of attention on this. If you are in fact using IIS
Rewrite then that clouds the picture a little. However if I can pull
myself together and write something up you should be able to do all of your
404 handling in your ... 404 handler. I don't use IIS rewrites for much

The url rewrite is just pointing to serve the site from a subdirectory. It
is working ok because the home page is being served correctly. Thanks,

Re: CF 404 handler non being invoked on IIS

2015-02-09 Thread Matt Robertson

Url rewrite in IIS may not even be involved here, and need not be. Prior
to win2k8 the standard way to handle Cf 404 and 'fakeURL' 404's was to tell
IIS not to 'check to see if file exists' in the .cfm mapping. From there
CF server's 404 handler did whatever you wanted it to. To retain the same
capability with dynamic urls i had to jump thru the hoops described above
in win2k8. Current method of individual site 404 handlers is a pain but
more flexible.

I deal with many sites that have non existent pages which use URL REWRITE
to redirect them.
The usual reason is that the url rewrite rules are not working, or even
that the url rewrite module is not installed.
Have you tried a very simple rule to test of that is working ok ?

Re: CF 404 handler non being invoked on IIS

2015-02-09 Thread Mark Spence

Matt,
Thank you for the link. I am working through the first step below:

*Step 1:*
Configure a Missing Template Handler in CF Administrator. Mine is global to
the server and kept in the ColdFusion webroot - which is separate from the
IIS web root and whose default location is c:\ColdFusion9\wwwroot. This
global template is 404handler.cfm and contains the following simple code,
which you can expand upon:

404Page Not Found

At this point, visit your web site and execute a bad ColdFusion url:
*http://[domain]/bogus.cfm*. You will see both the IIS remote error
screen/banner followed by your ColdFusion error screen. Check the header
and it is a 404. This next step will solve the dual display problem.

When I visit the bogus page, I still just get the standard detailed iis 404
page, without the cf page that I created. I have tried it both with and
without the "Enable HTTP status codes". I can't figure out what I am doing
wrong. This is on a windows 8 machine. Any ideas? Thank you for the help.

Re: CF 404 handler non being invoked on IIS

2015-02-09 Thread Matt Robertson

Formerly, in IIS you could check a box that told IIS to not check first if
a page exists on the .cfm extension, which would defeat IIS handling .cfm
404 errors. From there your CF 404 error template would take over. This
behavior changed as IIS was upgraded. So Item 1: If you are using an
earlier version of IIS the solution is different. Your version?

Look at this:

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18879758/coldfusion-10-update-11-404-handler-not-firing

this was part of my discovery that CF 10/Win2k8 error handling was
different from CF9/Win2k3. From this, thre observation that IIS was
returning as the failed url

http://[mydomain]:80/jakarta/isapi_redirect.dll

became a CF bug that I am pretty sure got fixed. My eventual solution
was posted up here

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18237478/iis7-displays-both-its-own-404-message-cf9-message-should-display-just-its-ow/18927484#18927484

and involved using a local site 404 template handler rather than one
specified in the CF admin. If you follow the two discussions there were a
lot of suggestions that wound up doing half the job, or an unacceptable
version (IIS + CF errors shown, 200 codes returned) but the above fixed the
lot.

It would seem that your url rewriting is not working if you are getting 404
on the original url., otherwise you get error on the rewritten url at least.

Is there something else I need to do? Thanks.

You will need to change a setting in IIS for the 404 page not found and point
it to a CF page designed to process those requests.

CF 404 handler non being invoked on IIS

2015-02-08 Thread Mark Spence

This is working on the live hosted site, but on my local install of iis and
cf it isn't.

I have ses urls like this:

http://mysitedotcom/item-section/item-name-1034/index.cfm

The directories "item-section" and "item-name-1034" do not exist, so it
should invoke the Application.cfc onMissingTemplate function, which is set
up to serve the proper dynamic page.

However on my local setup, I am getting this iis error:

HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found
Detailed Error Information:
Module IIS Web Core Notification MapRequestHandler Handler
cfmHandler Error
Code 0x80070002
Requested URL
http://mysitedotcom:80/site_mysubsite_com/items/item-name-1034/index.cfm
Physical
Path C:\wwwroot\site_mysite_com\item-section\item-name-1034\index.cfm Logon
Method Anonymous Logon User Anonymous
It's like CF is not even getting to see the missing template error before
IIS steps in. I tried setting Application.cfc as the error page for 404
errors but no dice. How can I make CF take priority and handle the 404
error?

Thank you.

Re: Writing an Apache 404 Handler in CF

2014-10-14 Thread Robert Glover

Hi Jon, thanks for the reply!

I'm far from an expert on Apache; in my httpd.conf, I don't seem to have any
rewrite rules at all. Where would I put these? Inside the virtualHost section
for my redirect app?

If it helps any, we're running Railo 4.2.1 on Tomcat 7, not sure if that
affects the Apache config.

Thanks a bunch!

Rob

Re: Writing an Apache 404 Handler in CF

2014-10-10 Thread Jon Clausen

You’ve likely got a rewrite rule passes everything that is not a document to CF
for handling. I’m guessing you have a friendly URL setup that routes everything
through index.cfm, which is why the redirect is taking place. Something like
this is probably the culprit:

#These are handled by Apache and not by CF
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} \.(bmp|gif|jpe?g|png|css|js|txt|xls|ico|swf)$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ - [NC,L]

#Everything else is handled by Coldfusion
RewriteRule ^$ index.cfm [QSA,NS]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.cfm/%{REQUEST_URI} [QSA,L,NS]

If you change the rule for static files to include .aspx, then Apache will
handle that 404 as usual:

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} \.(aspx|bmp|gif|jpe?g|png|css|js|txt|xls|ico|swf)$

I've written a custom 404 handler for Apache. The handler looks at the
incoming URL (cgi.request_url), queries a database table, and responds by
redirecting the visitor to the new URL. What should happen:

www.mysite.co.uk gets redirected to www.mysite.com

That much works fine. But when we get to more complex urls:

www.mysite.co.uk/contact.aspx should go to www.mysite.com/contact/

Something (Apache?) is stripping out the contact.aspx portion of it so I
can't tell where to send the user. In fact, what's happening instead is
contact.aspx is replaced with index.cfm (the name of the 404 handler). No
other variables returned in the CGI scope contain the contact.aspx part of
the url.

Of course, we have the domain to be redirected pointed at this server via
DNS, and configured in Apache, since the simple versions of the URL work
fine.

Is there a configuration setting or something to get it to stop stripping
out the rest of the url? Thanks!

Re: Handling 404 errors by Coldfusion

2014-07-30 Thread Jon Clausen

You have two options that I can see:

1) Point the static content option to an empty file (not a very good option for
your static content 404’s)
2) Remove the 404 handler completely from the Error Pages and use your
web.config to handle 404’s for static content and pass through existing
responses. The following web.config example doesn’t fire the for
404 handler if an existing response exists (e.g. - one generated by CF):

(actually, now that I think about it, you could probably just add the
PassThrough attribute to your web.config for the site and it would accomplish
what you need to do)

A more advanced option, but my personal preference nowadays, is to put NGINX
out in front of IIS and let it handle everything for static content. Then just
remove the IIS error handlers from the site and let CF handle all of those when
the NGINX proxy is in effect.

Ok, I've seen that, but the problem is that I still have to give a URL to be

In fact I just need IIS to do nothing, everything I need is done in my page, I
just need to return the 404 status to the browser

Handling 404 errors by Coldfusion

2014-07-30 Thread Claude Schnéegans

Hi,

I'm havin someting weird hapening on mt CF 9 / Windows Web Server 2008 / IIS 7.5

My site is returning an error 404 status when some requested page does'nt
exists.
For instance http://myDomain.com/index.cfm?p=page&id=21 return normaly page 21
which exists,
but http://myDomain.com/index.cfm?p=page&id=999 returns an error 404 since
there is no page 999 in the database.
This is achieved by the following code:

and notFound.cfm contains this:

Page not found
Sorry, the requested page does not exists on this site http://#cgi.server_name#";>#cgi.server_name#.

Now the PROBLEM is that the generated code is displayed AFTER the text
generated by the IIS server in case of any 404 error.
If I remove the line with statuscode="404", the page is displayed normally.

It seems that when CF is returning a 404 response, IIS fells compelled to put
it's oar too ;-)

The problem does not happen on my development setup, with the same version of
CF and IIS.

I can been caught by this too when setting up a new windows server. Very
frustrating, especially after you find out it is a double extension issue.

Well if other files wotk fine then it is not going to be a web server issur.
How about just deleting and recreating the file.
Make sure you have not doubled up the extension, which I have seen done

yes I noted you said it was IIS, thus why I asked about the web.config,
which of course only applies to IIS
is that any other files have this issue ?

Just installed a legacy CF app under IIS, got index.cfm to run fine with a
form submitting to another .cfm file. Upon submitting form, location bar
changes to http://my.domain.com/formhandler.cfm and that file is definitely
in the webroot with the same permissions as index.cfm...but IIS returns a
404 error.

Any ideas about what to look for next?

Solved.

http://stackoverflow.com/a/18927484/2788098

Once a custom template is specified in IIS, it uses that template
exclusively and the CFAdmin-set global template is completely ignored by
IIS. However the local template is fullyi functional so, while its a royal
pain to have to do a template per site, at least the functionality remains.

Re: CF10 404 issues - a new kind of problem?

2013-09-18 Thread Money Pit

debugging marches on...

I took IIS 404 behavior back to default to simplify debugging. So ignoring
the weirdness I described earlier re: the IIS 404 handler, if I just
concentrate on the CF handler, I am saddled with a template that is not
firing.

I put up a thread on Stack Overflow. One suggestion was to set error page
properties to 'detailed error pages' and this did in fact let the CF
template run... but it also displays detailed error pages onscreen on all
other types of errors. CF9 works fine with IIS set to 'Detailed errors for
local requests and custom error pages for remote requests'

Another solution offered in the same thread suggested I turn off HTTP
status codes in CF Admin. This too solved the problem and the template
fired... but when you do that the only code returned by CF is a 200 that
you can't redress with a cfheader. Very bad for SEO.

A third suggestion was to stick a cfmail statement into the error template
to demonstrate the template was in fact firing, but IIS is keeping it from
being displayed. Working cfmail code was inserted and ... no mail was
sent, which seems to reinforce the impression that the template is not
firing at all.

Unfortunately this is a legacy site with an Application.cfm. I've looked
at converting it to a .cfc specifically to take advantage of that handler
but its a bit of a monster. I'd probably spend more time doing that than I
would removing CF10 and going back to CF9 (I have a license I can use if I
must). All of this has been working fine in CF9. Same OS and version.
Only change is CF version and cf9 lockdown vs. cf10 lockdown.

Russ Michaels said

> In the cfadmin youbyou set the missing and error templates as

The root of the SITE? Interesting as I have always kept the sitewide error
handler and the missing template handler in the coldfusion root:
c:\coldfusion9\wwwroot. I would then specify /missingtemplate.cfm and
/sitewideError.cfm in the cf admin. My IIS site roots are in
c:\other\place\siteroot.

But you reminded me I did it differently on another server with one site on
it: In cfadmin I mapped 'c:\other\place\siteroot' to '/siteroot'. Then in
the spots for missing template/error handlers, I specified
'/siteroot/missingtemplate.cfm' and /siteroot/sitewideError.cfm ... worked
great. Tried that here and ... does not work. I also set IIS back to
default 404 handling to take that variable out of the picture. The IIS
request trace says that the failed 'foo.cfm' url is
http://[domain]:80/jakarta/isapi_redirect.dll.

If I have a CF missing template handler in place, I would think the IIS
failed request trace wouldn't fire at all, since CF handles the 404. I am
surmising that since IIS sees a 404 even with default error handling, CF's
missing template handler isn't being recognized.

Oh also in IIS I have tried setting the cfmhandler to File (as recommended
in the Lockdown guide) or 'unspecified', which is supposed to be the analog
of unchecking the old IIS6 'check to see that file exists' setting. Same
failure in both instances.

And, as a side, you can use an application level CF request 404 handler
by using the onMissingTemplate() method in Application.cfc. This only
works for requests to CF processed resources, by template name (a
directory call will just die).

In the cfadmin youbyou set the missing and error templates as /filename.cfm
and put it in the root of the site.
It seems that with cf10/Apache if it doesn't find a file in the expected
location it will look in cf internal doc root instead, so u need to clear
out that folder.

Iis 404 template wont work for cfm files because cf processes the request
first to determine if it exists.

CF10 404 issues - a new kind of problem?

2013-09-17 Thread Money Pit

I've seen and dealt with plenty of CF10 404 issues since my install
yesterday, but this appears to be a new one:

This is my first CF10 installation. I am running with Update 11 in place.
Win2k8 R2/64bit.

1. CF Admin's missing template handler residing in the cfusion wwwroot is
nonfunctional. The site wide template handler in the same location works
fine.

2. The err404.cfm 404 handler I have executing via IIS works, but get
this... the url is supposed to be relative to *site* root, right? In IIS,
on a site that is not the default web site, where CF is using its default
web root location and IIS is using an entirely different one (nonstandard
on a different folder tree) *the IIS 404 page is executing from the CF web
root*. That shouldn't be possible. Took me hours to realize it was
happening. I have ensured that I have unique filenames in place and can't
see any reason why IIS - in this one case - treats the 'site root' as the
default cf webroot location. Here is my missing template handler, kept
simple:

404Page not found
#now()#

There's more. The IIS missing template handler works fine for non-CF
pages. For foo.htm I get display and 404 header as expected. For foo.CFM
I get... nothing (with a 200 status code). I have IIS doing failed request
traces and for foo.htm I get a failed url of

http://[domain]:80/foo.htm

but foo.cfm's request trace gives the failed url of

http://[domain]:80/jakarta/isapi_redirect.dll

Anyone? I have been all over stack overflow and it has helped me through
other issues (adding /jakarta virtual directory etc.) but this has me
stumped.

Not sure if anyone answered you here. Did you also set your

Hi Folks

I set up in the administrator a Missing Template Handler
I have a notfound.cfm page that works fine for 404 errors such as
http://www.domain.com/obsoletePage.cfm
will trigger notFound.cfm

However
http://www.domain.com/obsoletePage.cfm?training=teleconference
gets the standard CF missing page with the path
File not found: /obsoletePage.cfm

Any ideas on how to handle urls with get data

Thanks

Nope, for whatever reason we were not having the same issue on IIS7 and CF9

the requirement to enable detailed errors is actually with IIS7 not CF10,
so if this was causing your issue it would have affected CF9 as well.
Did you also upgrade from IIS6 to IIS7 by any chance ?

However you can set this option on a folder by folder basis with IIS7, you
do not have to enable detailed errors for your entire sire.
so on the folder that contains your customer error page simply disable that
option.

No, I mean they are not seen as ColdFusion errors of any kind. We'd have to
make changes to our site and how the SEO is handled, etc. to make sure that
anything that could conceivably be a 404 would get sent to CF in some way.

I also seem to recall that using a cflocation to get a 404 handler could be
tricky in terms of correctly returning a 404 header to the browser. Is that not
the case?

Custom 404 with CF10

2013-04-13 Thread Mary Jo Sminkey

We're looking at moving to CF10 but have run into an issue we can't seem to
figure out. It's not a problem on CF9 but is a deal breaker for us with CF10
unless we can find a solution.

Basically our site uses a custom 404 handler, which is set up in IIS using the
"Execute URL" as it calls a .cfm page that goes through our MVC controller. The
problem we've run into is that to get CF errors, we have to set IIS to return
detailed error messages and so it won't let us set a custom 404. If we turn off
the setting in the CF10 admin for returning 404/500 headers, that messes up our
ability to see 500 server errors when there's a problem with an Ajax call which
we use a lot to internal components.

I've goggled this issue and spent hours searching for a solution, to no avail.
It seems the only way around it is to use a static 404 which is not what we
want to do. We use extensive SEO rewriting so we can't use the CF 404 setting
either. Anyone else figured out a way to do this?

In situations like yours I would say the opposite. If you are developing on a
live server, you have no production machine, only a development one, deployed
in a production environment.

Really though, if you have a computer that you use every day, you should make
an effort to make that your development environment. CF will run fine on a
desktop or laptop.

If this is not possible in your case, I would look into emailing yourself the
errors, or perhaps writing them to a log (maybe they already are logged). If
you choose to email them, you might consider creating a mailbox just for the
errors so that a major mistake doesn't destroy your inbox.

Lastly, look into Hoth:

Re: 404 errors in the application log

you also have a global setting in the cfadmin for missing template handler,
put a path here and it will show for all missing files.
note that the file must also exist at the same path in the default website
that hosts the cfadmin or it wont validate. A very daft requirement if you
ask me.

Just a heads-up - you have to be very careful with this feature, at
least in some versions of IIS + CF. CF depends in many cases on
wildcard patterns, and paths to files that don't even exist.

This is the suggestion I'd recommend, and it's available in CF 8 as well.

Re: 404 errors in the application log

2012-04-02 Thread Nathan Strutz

IIS has an option to check for existing files before it hands the request
off to CF. You could also implement an onMissingTemplate() method in your
Application.cfc, which I think is a CF9 feature.

Re: WSDL 404 Error

2011-09-24 Thread James Holmes

Back on our old CF servers (6 or 7, I can no longer remember) we needed to
create a mapping that matched the physical path to fix this issue.

So if our cfc was in http://mydomain.com/some_folder/hello.cfc, we needed to
create a CF admin mapping for /some_folder/ to the physical path.

I don't think that CF is "failing to create the WSDL". I think,
instead, that there's something about your environment that is
preventing these URLs from being resolved properly. The difference may
be a subtle one, I guess, but important in finding a resolution. If it
were actually failing to generate WSDL, you should see a 500 error
rather than a 404 error.

Are you able to browse the auto-generated documentation for your CFC?

Are these URLs being served by CF's built-in web server, or by your
own web server?

If you reconfigure CF to use its own web server, do the URLs work then?

RE: WSDL 404 Error

2011-09-24 Thread Bobby Hartsfield

I don't think you are following me. You seem to think that as long as it is
in some special directory where it works as a component that it is going to
automatically work remotely and that just isn't the case. when you access it
as a web service, you are going out of the server and back in through the
web server (web server being apache or iis or whatever you are using) to
call a URL (not a file).

You've already told us that you get a 404 when you try to CFHTTP the WSDL
URL, so I assure you that CF is getting the same thing when it tries to
invoke it as a web service.

Drop an HTML file in the same directory and try to access that URL from a
browser "ON THE SERVER". If that works, then maybe you are simply calling
the web service incorrectly (in which case... show us some code). If it
doesn't work, you can only blame the web server for not knowing how to find
it (since it cuts CF out of the loop).

Again, do this from the machine running CF since it is the one that needs to
know how to resolve the URL.

If you can't take the WSDL URL for your web service and load it in a browser
ON the server, CF can't load it either.

The 404 from your CFHTTP call is a good indication that CF simply can't find
it.

Yes access is remote. The only reason why I did any object invocation on the
cfc was to test it. I'm merely excluding the possibility of error in the cfc
itself. But that does me no good---it needs to be a web service. That's my
dead end, you call the web service and get a 404. Can anyone tell me how to
publish a web service with ColdFusion? And confirm that the WSDL should be
created automatically in CF7 when ?wsdl is added at the end of the url?

Do you have remote accessible functions? You don't need those of cfinvoke or

But you aren't calling it as a local component, you are calling it as a web
service (not sure why). Calling it as a local component doesnt introduce the
potential issue with resolving a domain.

No, same as the cfhttp call...but the cfc is there and functional as a

I can't remember the work around for this off top of head since I don't do

Where do I go from here? My guess is it's just not generating the WSDL for me,
but I don't know why or what to do about it. Thanks in advance!

Re: Getting IIS 404 errors handled by CFM?

2010-12-24 Thread Brian Polackoff

Set IIS custom 404 error to "URL" and set to /404.cfm. Then create a a file
called 404.cfm an place it in your web root. This will do what you want.

Thanks,
Brian

Getting IIS 404 errors handled by CFM?

2010-12-24 Thread Marie Taylore

Is there a way to get the IIS 404 pages handled by the CF engine? This is CF8
on Win2003 Server.

Currently, it displays the page, but when you View Source, you see all the CFML
code. Switched back to a plain HTM file for now.

Thanks!

Not quite that obvious Scott ;-) Yeah, IIS has the index.cfm setup as the
first default document and the 404 page I am getting is not the IIS page, thus
my assumption that it is the JRun 404. The layout is very basic, dark grey
shades, etc. rather than the bright blue of IIS 7.

Did you add index.cfm to the 'list' of default files in IIS?

JRun 404 without index.cfm (Win2008 R2 / CF9)

2010-12-20 Thread Jeff Chastain

I could use some help pointing out the obvious here. I have a Win2008 R2
server that I have been working through the Adobe CF9 lock down guide on and
have setup ColdFusion in multi-server mode.

For some reason, I cannot browse the CF admin or web sites without appending
/index.cfm to the url. If I go to
https://127.0.0.1/CFIDE/administrator/index.cfm, everything works. If I go to
https://127.0.0.1/CFIDE/administrator/, I get a JRun 404 error (not an IIS 404).

I have checked the web.xml file and the default index.cfm document is listed
there. What am I missing here?

Thanks

Re: IIS7 404 handler/URL Rewrite...

2010-09-24 Thread Russ Michaels

you are going to need to create a regular expression that dynamically
generates the url's you need based on the oriignal url. If there is not
enough data in the original url to do this and you have to use the database
then your going to be out of luck I think.
Your only other options would be to generate the web.config from your
database so it has ALL possible rewrite url's in it.

Re: IIS7 404 handler/URL Rewrite...

2010-09-24 Thread Judah McAuley

I use URL Rewriting on IIS7 but not with a 404 handler. It seems to me
that if you are rewriting in the webserver layer, why would you
rewrite to an invalid path? I just specify a regex for the rewrite
that says take everything of the form /foo/bar/monkey and rewrite it
to /index.cfm?params=foo,bar,monkey and then have index.cfm do all my
logic to grab the appropriate content. I also do earlier exclusion
rules that makes sure that /images/* , /styles/* etc aren't rewritten
and grab content directly.

Cheers,
Judah

RE: IIS7 rewrite and custom 404 handler

2010-09-24 Thread Eric Roberts

Problem solved...or to be more accurate, it was never a problem. Apparently
one of the new features in IIS7 is when you access a page locally, you get
detailed error pages, but when you access them remotely, you gey whatever
your custom pages are :-D Problem solved...life is good :-D
