Hi list,
Hoping I can get some advice on a simple setup:
Two sites, each with an ME-3600X-24TS-M, L2VPN between the two on Te0/1.
ME3600-SiteA:
Te0/1 - L2VPN via PE
Te0/2 - Customer equipment
ME3600-SiteB:

Thank you for this. Maybe the CX is too new - or it wont be getting the 3560-X
templates.
I have a 3650 under my desk at present - I'll do some testing.
I really like the 4451's - they much more like an ASR than an ISR - they do
most things in hardware.
We have had to buy a lot of licences

We have had to buy a lot of licences though - but this just the way that
cisco is going.
Well, if you give them money for

Yep, I don't mind at all. :)
Too many times it has been, should've gone cisco in terms of missing features
stability etc.
At least with cisco I know what works and doesn't.

I used to say that, 15 years ago...

We are looking at replacing some routers for a client, as they have recently
upgraded to 1Gb internet.
They just take a default route in from 2 carriers, but may be looking at
taking in a few more routes -
probably just those of each provider, so certainly much less than the 20k
limits
Great point - I totally forgot about netflow. That is also a requirement.
Is it definitely not supported on the 920?
Perhaps the new 3560-CX (multigigbit ethernet) with ip services?
That has flexible netflow.
Although I couldn't find a route limit on this device.

Not sure, but didn't find anything that suggests it is supported.

The ASR-920-12CZ-A comes with 6 of the 12 1Gb ports enabled, no need for the 6
port license if you need less than 6 ports.
For BGP you need the Metro IP Access License

OK great - that license is not much.
I can probably move the netflow back to a 68k if necessary.

Actually, if there is ANY chance of needing the additional ports (either
1G or 10G) in the future, you'd save money buying them on the initial
purchase ... it is cheaper
Hello all.
My take is that a consumption based sales model can be good as long as you are
not hindered in your work because of it.
Hate when you have some late night work to be done that can't be completed
because of some weird restriction dependent in some way on a license.
RTU licenses are
Yes, I just checked - It is literally $500 list at greenfield time.
Thanks for the input - I think I'm going more enterprisey on the product
though due to the netflow requirement.

Gustav,
Have you looked at smart licensing? I am hoping that should simplify the

The configuration in your email is for local switching. If you have a PW
between the two sites, you need to add xconnect configuration.

Hi Lukas,
ME3600X has the capability to support AER it but due to resource allocation,
the decision has been made to focus AER on ASR920. Regarding Cisco Live
session, there is a session which I do every year in US on Access Products and
Design.
IOS XR has always been the long term plan but for
Nick,
What is your netflow requirement? As I mentioned earlier the feature is in the
roadmap. I want to make sure it addresses your requirement.
