Great product. Excellent dashboards on video, usage, adoption. Can pull data
direct for endpoint for more realtime info. When you go big on video you tend
to encounter more network issues. I can’t speak to pricing.

Ok – I’m _pretty_ sure this is what helps:

  *   Connection Admin > Advanced > Conversations
  * Use Last (Rather than First) Redirecting Number for Routing Incoming Call
[ ]

“When this check box is checked, Unity Connection uses the last redirecting
number for routing incoming calls.”

I have not (ever) had a chance to test this.

I agree that the name isn't as useful anymore, but did you run the report? If
so, do you feel the report is accurate, or are you noticing something is wrong
with it?

Also, you didn't mention if you switched your Service Param over or not, else,
everything uses non-immersive video by default.

Did you already change the value of Service Parameter: Use Video BandwidthPool
for Immersive Video Calls?

The classification is per version of CUCM, and thus can be queried in CUCM.
See below from SRND.

Endpoint Classification
Cisco TelePresence endpoints have a fixed non-configurable Video Call Traffic
Class of immersive and are identified by Unified CM as immersive. Telepresence
endpoints are defined in Unified CM by the device type. When a device is added
in Unified CM, any device with TelePresence in the name of the device type is
classified as immersive, as are the generic single-screen and multi-screen room
systems. Another way to check the capabilities of the endpoints in the Unified
CM is to go to the Cisco Unified Reporting Tool > System Reports > Unified CM
Phone Feature List. In the feature drop down list, select Immersive Video
Support for TelePresence Devices ; in the product drop down list, select All.
This will display all of the device types that are classified as immersive. All
other endpoints have a fixed Video Call Traffic Class of desktop due to their
lack of the non-configurable immersive attribute.

permit SNMP form 10.10.128.0/24 can I limit SNMP based on subnet? Or is it only
exact hosts. Help for this page doesn't really elaborate.

Is 10.0.0.0 the whole Class A or just the exact host 10.0.0.0 ?

I'm looking into what we need in a non-prod environment and I can't seem to
find what I'm looking for. Has anyone used standard devops tools to automate
the build of clusters? I doubt I'm going to find anything that would be an
"IaaS for CUCM" that I can run at my company, but that's what I'm after.

What are other people doing for the problem of needing repeatable and quick
development environments? There has to be a better way than building a new
cluster from scratch, which can take hours. I can hit a button and deploy a
full cluster of linux servers, all of the containers they need, DNS, the
virtual network to connect them all, and everything else needed to be
production ready (and it will be done in a few minutes), but I have to spend
DAYS making a dev CUCM environment. What am I missing?

I need to prepare some maintenance requests sooner than I will have the
opportunity to test out applying SU6 on a test server.

Does anyone have any estimates on how long it takes to apply?

Last time I did one was a while ago and if I recall correctly, it was almost as
long, if not as long, as a regular install. 1 1/2 hours - 2 hours.

Is that still legit?

I’d also need to know how long a switch versions might take? I’m assuming those
would have to happen sequentially?

Any info would be great.

for CUCM SIP trunk with gateway, you can use ccmSIPDeviceTable.

its description says that this is a table containing a list of all SIP trunks
in the Cisco Unified CM cluster that the local CiscoUnified CM is aware of.
there is a status column in the table. Hope it helps.

I recall seeing a section on the SX20 config screen about using the media
resource list.

Does this mean and SX20 can initiate an audio conference call like other
telephones? We have HW conferencing resources, up to 16 participants. It would
be nice to be able to use these resources.

The SX20 does not have multipoint license.

If you had 4 clusters, connected via SME (with centralized SIP in via SME)

bridges (no Ad-Hoc) would you register them to SME or one for each Leaf CUCM.
I could then use ILS to advertise a Route Pattern to CMS via SME.

Trying to find the right design guide for this scenario. The me this usage of
CMS matches centralized applications.
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/srnd/collab12/collab12/models.html

Honestly almost all our calls/meetings are WebEx > Call my Video unit via

And yes it seems that on/off ramp faxing and TCL audio are dead so on to other
things.

I can do this easily with Asterisk, it is just another thing to maintain.

One of the things we did use this for was having a fallthrough recording if all
the dialpeers were dead to the UCM on a PRI gateway, we’d play something
letting people know we were having an issue and check a website, versus sending
back the a cause and having them get a recording that caused the caller to try
over and over.

Things move on, such is life I guess.

Yes, VXML is no longer supported on the ISR4K so these routers cannot be used
in a CVP deployment as VXML gateways.
The VVB is the alternative.

I’m not sure the fax TCL script has been tested on ISR4K, but BACD has been
tested and works fine.

Spoke too soon maybe.

I’m getting answers that refer to VXML but I’m told that TCL is impacted as
well. There’s a module for the 4K apparently that runs IP IVR to be a VXML
processor but I can’t find details on this at the moment or what impact that
has on other functionality.

So maybe panic attack not totally averted.

destination TCP/56648 and then lots of TCP retransmissions. The GUI in PLM
says "Test Connection Failed. The cause of the error is unknown. Check the Cisco
Prime License Manager log for details."

I can't find in the Port Usage guide where TCP/56648 is documented? What log
file do I look at via RTMT on PLM?

Found the problem, appears CTS only used CTL and not ITL. Did that change
with CE 9.5 ?
https://community.cisco.com/t5/telepresence-and-video/telepresence-endpoints-itl-security-by-default/td-p/2702643

Pubs and subs have CTL, but not new subs.
admin:show ctl
Length of CTL file: 0
CTL File not found. Please run CTLClient plugin or run the CLI - utils ctl.. to
generate the CTL file.
Error parsing the CTL File.

Looks like they ran a USB hardware eToken on the cluster, I'd rather do a
"utils ctl set-cluster non-secure-mode" and reboot cluster then convert to
Tokenless CTL.

Anyone familiar about changes in CE endpoints going from 8.2 to 9.5 ? Did
older video endpoints use CTL and maybe change to ITL?

I added some new subscribers and TFTP server (realized now without running the
capf utility) , and noticed the DX80s have issues talking to new subs/tftp (we
are in Mixed Mode) but if I upgrade 9.5+ CE they work fine. Maybe the upgrade
is resetting security settings? Kind of stumped why upgrade fixes problem.
Also think I need to run a "tils ctl set-cluster non-secure-mode" and reboot
cluster. Don't really need mixed-mode.

RTP IP 6.6.156.244

I'm just drawing a blank on how to setup CUBE to send SIP signaling requests to

I wish CUCM didn't ship with newer phone firmware.

Since Cisco already drops support for all firmware older than the most recent
firmware:

- For each IP Phone model, once Cisco releases a new firmware version, the
older versions are no longer supported.
- Cisco expects customers who encounter a problem on an older version of
firmware to test the latest firmware on a subset of phones in order to confirm
that the problem still exists.

And most people agree that you should upgrade firmware before a CUCM upgrade
anyway, just remove firmware from CUCM.

Not too mention it clutters up TFTP.

I also think that the firmware should be decoupled from the Device Packs. When
adding support for a single model phone, rarely am I also trying to upgrade
100% of the phones in the environment too.

I’d flash the phones and advertise an isolated tftp server to them with the

flashing them and then still not getting them to load right isn’t going to make
it any worse.

Use DNS in the DHCP scope in your isolation network with the TFTP server and
pcap/debug the DNS queries to see the bootstrap and load files it’s looking for.

In the 79xx series back in the day when I would perform this Lazarus trick for
some lucky customers; the bootstrap filename was XMLDefault.cnf.xml. Not sure
if it’s the same nowadays though.

Here is the Cisco doc on the procedure for the older stuff worth a shot
but not sure if it still works on the newer gear.

Check your TFTP directory and see if you have excessive video endpoint firmware
files. They can take a large amount of space if you have multiple versions of

I used to seeing 7-10GB of .tar backup for 10K users 8 node cluster, 17GB seems
excessive.

I’m planning to decrypt the .tar and look, but any thoughts on your average
backup size for 3K users?

Pretty sure answer is no.

Same if someone asked me how to get 8821 to register to Asterisk or a Avaya or
a Nortel etc.

Any other views?

8821 with Belt Clip putting into Multi Charger?

Customer bought a lot of CP-HOLSTER-8821= for 8821s
Once I put these belt clips on the phones, will the phone still fit in the
CP-MCHGR-8821-BUN or the Desktop Charger ?

Or do I have to remove the clip/case to charge the 8821?

[cisco-voip] 8832s

2018-04-29 Thread Jason Aarons (Americas)

I have a customer with four 8832 conference room phones. Their CUCM was running
version 12.0.1 of the 8832 firmware. These phones shipped with version
12.0.1SR2. When they registered the first two phones they downgraded from
12.0.1SR2 to 12.0.1 and are now unusable. They sit on “Connecting” after
booting up. They do not get an IP address. You cannot set an IP address
manually. If you reset the phone it doesn’t fix it, nor does a factory
reset
allow the phone to revert to the firmware they shipped with. Cisco TAC says
they must be RMA’d. We upgraded CUCM to 12.0.1SR3 and the other two phones
upgraded fine from 12.0.1SR2 to 12.0.1SR3.

Does anyone have any ideas on what we could do to fix these phones other than
RMAing them?

[cisco-voip] SFTP backups stop

2018-04-20 Thread Jason Aarons (Americas)
Anyone seen where you changed/regenerated the Globalscape SFTP key and
backups stopped? Or maybe it was something else.

I’m stumped. Filezilla client to SFTP with same username/password works fine,
log files in GlobalScape show CUCM connection and a dir list returned fine and
then in CCM I see failure.

Restarted DRS master/local, rebooted PUB etc.

I deleted schedule and device, recreated devices, same problem.

CUCM 11.5 SU2 and latest GlobalScape EFT.

Was working fine, then I regenerated key pair on GlobalScape.

It’s been like that for awhile as far as I recall next to the trunk

I usually have only one destination per trunk and use route groups to order how

This looks interesting, thank you for the link.

I quickly looked at the solution and it seems a nice and complete product.
However it still seems some work and maintenance to get this working.
How will this work with phones not logged in and users logged in to phones via
extension mobility?
It looks like I have to enrich the data collected by this tool manually.
Any experience whit this?

variphy.com has a report that looks at CDR records and will
give you a report on directory numbers that have not been used, but you would
need to build a database of CDR records on Variphy or import them if you
archived elsewhere.

We need to cut-down the number of desks and I want to see which desks are not

Are there any tools you use to get this visible?
I was thinking of a phone report of phones which have not been used for a

Any thoughts anyone?

CUCM 11.5 Third-Party SIP Device (Basic)-This one-line SIP device is

is running SIP from third-party companies.

I should expect a second call to come in Line 1 and be able to switch between
calls? I'm using a NEC DECT i766 phone that is line side registered to
CallManager. I see the second call come in, but phone doesn't show any kind of
button to switch calls. Vendor is researching it, pretty sure this is a
problem on NEC side.

Go to Device > Phone > go to bottom of line, the maximum calls is 2, so I
should expect to get a second call into the NEC DEC i766, agree?
