No state can require you to show state reg. numbers on a Federally documented boat. That is a Federal law. States can still require you to register your boat, pay an annual fee or property tax, and require you to display a sticker indicating you have paid the fee or tax. Bill Bina On

In MD you will still have to pay an annual fee ~$10 for a state DNR sticker. Since you have a current year sticker already you could probably remove the numbers/letters now but I would wait until the renewal comes up. On the renewal form there is a place to put the doc number in lew of the state
