Yesterday around 7-7:15 PM at the Immigration Detention Center in
Aurora (a few blocks west of 30th and Peoria), a nighthawk flew
over. I was doing something else and could not distinguish whether
it was a Common or Lesser, but since I almost never see any
nighthawks much after Labor Day,
While birding my way to work today there was a female Blackburnian
Warbler along the Poudre bike trail. This rare fall migrant had
orange yellow upper breast and throat. I also saw a grayish back and

to be our norm this year. First of season
Hi Cobirders
Another good day here at Chico, a bit slower than yesterday but we still banded
68 birds of 14 species. FOS Common Yellowthroat banded. Barn Owls are still
around but are skittish. Again, Wilson's Warblers led the way with 44 banded.

There was a Common Poorwill vocalizing (song or flight calls?) in front of my
house at about 8:15pm this evening, and possibly a pair of them. I've been
hearing 1-2 of them (maybe more) regularly both mornings and evenings for
weeks, just as I do during the early summer; I don't seem to hear
