Dave and Audrey Elens (same folks who got Red-shouldered Hawk on
Poudre Trail last year) report a Yellow-crowned Night Heron at the
Glenmere Park rookery over weekend. Funny thing is, I led Denver
Audubon around Weld this Saturday, including Glenmere, and one of my
comments was I'm hoping to see
Flushed a Black-Crowned Night Heron at Salisbury Equestrian Park 2:30PM on
Sunday 5 June 2011. He was hiding under the brush on the edge of the lake which
is to the east of the ball fields. When flushed he'd just fly to a new spot
along the shore. Adult. Great unobstructed views. N39 30.072,
Does anyone have a good website for rare birds in California (up to date)? I
did searches today and found nothing but old data on sites. Any help would be
appreciated.

A quic k trip to Boyd Lake this morning we saw 2 Bullocks Orioles- broad white
patch on the male. . Observed also 5 White Pelicans, a Meadow Lark, some
Canadian Geese, Great Blue Heron and 6 Western Grebes.

This morning 24 intrepid birders braved the heat to bird Turkey Creek Ranch
south of Colorado Springs on Fort Carson. The walk was sponsored by the Aiken

If anyone in northern Colorado needs their annual spring chat and lazuli fix, I
recommend the Hewlett Gulch Trail up the lower part of Poudre Canyon. This
trail has consistently been good in early June for both Yellow-breasted Chat
