16 photos of our very enjoyable visit to Trinidad and southeast Colorado
this weekend, including Hooded Warbler and Mountain Plover. Thanks to Bill

beautiful area in a month for the CFO convention. Hope to see you ther
Hi all,
Denise and I enjoyed a splendid evening at Spring Park reservoir and Basalt
Mountain.
As we left home, 4 adult Franklin's Gulls flew low over the house, heading
west down-valley, a great sight!
At Spring Park, with no heatwaves, we were able to give everything a fairly
good loo
Greetings All,
Today, Larry Arnold and I started along the Grand Junction's Connected Lakes. A
Plumbeous Vireo there, a tad early, represented nearly the only passerine
migrant. So, we headed up to Glade Park, just south of which (in the
sage/grasslands) we had Black-throated, Sage, and Brewer

COBirders,
I am assuming that the same Harris's Sparrow that has been seen at Fountain
Creek Nature Center most of this winter is still at the center. We saw one on
Saturday at the south feeders; now near adult breeding plumage. We also saw

Hi All,
This evening Gary Mathews and I were birding Lake Estes. We walked to the
bridge on the north side of the lake and a young fisherman alerted us to a bird
that he said had been perched on a rock for several hours. We looked across the
inlet into the rocks to find an American Bittern per
Scott Rashid and I were quite surprised to see an American Bittern at Lake
Estes this evening. Fortunately a young fisherman asked us what that bird
was that had been standing in the same spot for an hour. It was standing
on the rocky east shore of the Big Thompson River as it enters Lake Estes.
I saw the WHITE-THROATED SPARROW at the Moose Visitor Center again this
morning. The staff confirms that a pair has been around since the winter,
I only saw the one, along with a pair of Pine Grosbeaks, several Cassin's
Finches, a bunch of Mountain Chickadees, a Stellar's Jay and LOTS of

Hi Cobirders

the same location at 7:27 a.m. Yellow-rumped Warblers, both Audubon's and
Myrtle types, and American Goldfinch were FOS at Lowell Ponds S
Hi COBIrders,
Nancy Gobris and I set up the RMBO banding station today, to begin banding
tomorrow. Lots of leafing-out in the Russian Olives, we think a little earlier
than usual.
Saw neither the Lucy's Warbler nor Hooded Warbler, but there were several
Myrtle/Yellow-rumps, and at least one m
Today at Totten Reservoir (just outside Cortez, Colorado), we ran into a large,
dark-mantled gull that stood out from the Ring-billed, Franklin's, and
Bonaparte's Gulls that were also present. The bird had a dark gray mantle,
large yellow bill with a red gonydeal spot, and yellow legs. Our initi
Hi Birders,
We spent this weekend clearing lanes and putting up nets, preparing for our
opening next Saturday, April 28. This weekend was pretty quiet - we heard
or saw all the usual residents but almost no migrants. We had a few nets
open mid to late morning today and caught 3 birds. First
Hi all, we had two (FOY) Broad-tailed Hummingbirds at our feeder this
afternoon. For us (at our home) it is about 10 days early.
The two pairs of Northern Pygmy-Owls that I have been monitoring ,both began
incubating last week.
Also yesterday, while monitoring a Northern Goshawk nest, we saw t
As Ira Sanders and I were driving southbound on I - 76 and just into Logan
County below Julesburg yesterday at 5 PM, a mountain plover flew from left
to right in front of the car.
Lots easier than scanning hundreds of acres of short grass.
