Near Normandy Elementary School in Littleton: After seeing posts of
redpolls all around the area, a futile trip to the Pawnee a few weeks ago,
and staring out my window all weekend hoping to be invited to party, a
female showed up on our feeder this morning. She only stayed a moment

Hi Folks,
Today will be a good day to catch the Rosy-Finches at the Red Rocks
feeders. We had 1-2 inches of snow last night in the foothills - I
put some seed out early this morning. Unfortunately, I am not able to
get to Red Rocks today.

Urling just spotted a Redpoll at our feeders. This one likes the
sunflower chips, hasn't tried the niger feeder or the millet on the
ground.

Hi all,
I just looked out to my seed area and saw a second Harris's Sparrow feeding
along with the first one I started seeing three days ago. This one has
quite a bit more black on the head and throat, so they are easily
separated. They are eating thistle from the ground; still no Redpolls.
The Redpoll is back today, feeding on niger and hanging out with a flock of
siskins.

I stopped by Dixon Reservoir in west Fort Collins this morning between 8:00
and 8:30. The Redpoll fest continues, as I had a single Common Redpoll
(female I think, as there was no red on the throat/breast) with a flock(s)
of American and (yes) Lesser Goldfinches and House Finches. These
Today, I went to the Red Rocks Trading Post to see if the Rosy Finches
returned. I got there at 1030 I didn't see any Rosy Finches but did see the
Golden-crowned Sparrow. I also put a plastic niger feeder(Perky Pet) under the
apple tree and filled it with niger. Within 10 minutes two
This afternoon there were seven (plus one) swans a-swimming in the east
Valco Pond on MacKenzie Ave. I believe they all were Tundra Swans. Most but
not all had the yellow lore spot. A second opinion on these would be
welcomed (if they stick around.)

Hi all,
All of the Saturday December 15, Christmas Bird Counts, can start finding Count
Week birds for their counts tomorrow through Friday. Three days before and
three days after the count is considered Count Week. It is always good to look
for the rare birds that have been around, and try
Hey all,
This afternoon at about 1:30PM, Amber and I were in Greeley near Sanborn
(Westlake) Park where I saw hundreds of Canada Geese, so I decided to stop
and scan the crowds. There was one lone Blue morph Snow Goose hanging out
with a group of Canada's near the North-east shore. It
Rich - Sounds like it might be the group that has been hanging around
Boulder until the recent cold weather hit. Is one of them banded? Photos

Rich -
Thanks Christian! I hadn't checked on the Boulder swans today so perhaps
this is a different group in CC.
Rich - if you have a chance to check to see if there is a banded bird
(large adult, male, U856), please let me know. I also may be down in that
area this weekend so could give
I was fortunate to photograph the 8 swans at Canon City Valco Ponds this
morning before the temperature had warmed much and the ice kept the swans
closer to the road. Even more fortunate they swam even closer so got good
photos of all 8. All of them showed field marks for Tundra Swans as
Hi all, I have not seen the 3 Scoters at Marston Reservoir since 12/8. On 12/9

lake with o luck. 12/10, I did not look at Marston. Today, 12/11, I found 1,

I refound the 1st winter Black Phoebe I found on the Canon City Riverwalk

A quick correction: the first documented Type 3 Red Crossbill from CO
