Today (Tuesday), Brenda and I found a Palm Warbler at the Ordway Town Reservoir
in Crowley County. It was in the row of trees on the north side.
Elsewhere in the county, we saw a Stilt Sandpiper at Box Springs and five
Sanderlings at Lake Meredith.

That's too believable. If you really want to generate an outrageous April

evidence in favor of lumping the redpolls.

At noon today (10/28) there was a Pacific Loon in Pitkin County, about half a
mile west of the inlet to Ruedi Reservoir.
I saw no other loons on Ruedi Reservoir. Three Sandhill Cranes were in the
same area as the loon.

While hiking today in San Juan County, about five miles west of Silverton, I
saw three Cliff Swallows at 12,000' elevation. They nest in small numbers in
Silverton, but I've never seen them anywhere else in the county.

I was able to pick out two Gray-crowned and five Black, among the
Brown-capped. The ones who couldn't
find any open ground near the feeders were flying around just outside the
yard, occasionally landing on me.

Brenda and I saw ten Green-tailed Towhees at Barr Lake SP in Adams County
this morning. They are coming through the Front Range lowlands in
unusually large numbers this Spring.
Brewer's Sparrows are also present in above average numbers.

Sparrows are definitely coming through. On Saturday in Elbert County, I
saw about 200 Vesper Sparrows, with small numbers of all three Spizella
species. Today at Cherry Creek State Park, Brenda and I saw 50 Brewer's
Sparrows, plus a small number of Vespers.

We need more posts like this from the birding community, not fewer.
As someone who enjoys birding on the northeastern plains, I find his posts
very useful and interesting, even if I am a bit humbled by how many good
birds he usually manages to find :)
