I managed a little time away from the house this afternoon and on my walk
around Clement park, I found a Ross's goose among the hundreds of cackling and
Canada geese. Maybe it'll fly over the house later. That'd be a sweet yard
bird.

associated with tropical systems, it stands to reason this is an
Atlantic/Gulf bird, but that remains to be determined.
Sad ending to the story, but at least the bird will be preserved here in
Colorado.

They obviously raise cowbird chicks now and again though.
I saw Blue-gray Gnatcatcher feeding a cowbird chick on Jekyll Island GA
many years ago. Just about as big of a disparity as a kinglet.

all white and rest of the body is very light gray, making it really really hard
to spot in the overcast and drizzly conditions. I saw the bird pop up while
looking at other birds thru my scope. Blink and it's almost gone. Neat bird. No
photos tho.

I just had 13 tundra swans drop in on the Douglas co side of Chatfield lake,

After about 2 hours of periodic fruitless scanning from my office window in
Lakewood (I'm on the 4th floor looking NW towards Golden, nice view
anyway), I finally just saw a flock of about 50 sandhills heading south

About 4pm today, I relocated one immature Sabine's gull and the red phalarope
from the swim beach at chatfield state park. Pretty sure I had the birds in
both Jefferson and Douglas counties, for what that's worth.
