Actually, over the line in the northwest corner of Union Reservoir on the mud
flats. One solo, hanging out with a half thousand Can/Cacks. Why bother
traveling to south Colorado?
Also, the Bald Eagle pair on Hygiene Road west of Longmont are carrying sticks
in to repair the nest. LOVE by
Went to the Firestone Gravel Pits in search of the White-fronted Goose seen
yesterday. Carefully inspected all the Can/Cacks for White fronts, which were
lacking, but did get the FOY White Pelican, all decked out with breeding blade
and white streamers on the head.

In addition to the ducks/gulls/geese that you would expect, there was a
harbinger - a Western Meadowlark singing lustily from a fence post. A couple
of red-winged blackbirds were singing, but their hearts weren't in it, although
one female red wing was taking an interestI also got to see
Visited the new wetlands (109th and Boulder Creek) today, and in addition to
the Willets, Avocets and a few ducks, the place was loaded with a couple
hundred WF Ibises, all loading up for the journey north. Rich pickings in
here, and couldn't find a Glossy in the bunch.

North side of Union Reservoir - 18 of the big beauties seen, trying to stay
sheltered under the bank while feeding. At least two groups, and there were
probably more that I couldn't see.
Also, the Yellow-headed BBs are back at Union Res, finally.

Drove up to see the EWidgeon reported by Steve Mlodinow, still there, hanging
out with his American cousins on the east side wetlands. WCR 59, half mile
south of US 34, east of Kersey. If the wind is from the north, the feed lot is
particularly flavorful - my van still smells!

That fine stop for migrating ducks is currently being cleaned out of a few
year's accumulation of muck. Absolutely dry, and will continue to be dry for
a month. The excavating machines may affect the migrating songbirds in the
neighboring woods as well. Parking is still available.

There was an immature Bald Eagle having lunch on the north shore, but it'll be

No luck on the kites of Glenmere, but the egrets and night herons are
entertaining and learning how to fish.
Stopped by Lower Latham on the way back - place is totally dry and has been for
