The XM2 (or GL2?) would not be a wise investment at this point. I know you'll see lots of cheap used ones for sale, but that's for two reasons: 1) it uses tape, and those mechanisms wear badly, and 2) it is SD only. Avoid it. If you want a cheapo all-around camcorder right now consider the Canon
