Time Machine is not really a substitute for a full drive backup. Each
backup strategy has its strong and weak spots. Together they are
complementary. So I'm considering recommending both. With drives so cheap
these days it is worth the small cost to get the added security. If you

Hi Andy,
Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately I tried your idea this morning
and I was unsuccessful. The clean up tool thinks .NET has been removed
(all three versions) but it still will not let me reinstall, nor does
windows update think it needs to be. L

Stuart's suggestion of a single format, dual function device is
short-term most practical, but may need replacement when the camera is
replaced.
Jeff'f suggestion of a multi-format adapter will let her take pictures
from other cameras too. That might be handy for working with friend's
Buy a SD USB reader, that doubles as a USB thumb drive.
It has a slot in the back where you plug the SD card into it and then
you plug it into your system like a Thumb drive.
I have a very small card reader that I keep in the [very small] camera
bag pocket with extra cards and battery.
I've switched from the PC and the kluge of MS Word/Mail

I had no issue with transferring pictures directly from the camera to my
computer. Until i realized transferring pictures this way was the fastest
way bar none to draining batteries.
All the cameras I have tried this with got their power over the USB wire,

I agree with your comment on being bulkier. However, one thing I've

Good point. XP's and Vista's previous versions are the equivalent on the

The Mac just refused to recognize the camera. And Samsung's software

Tom, respectfully a UofPittsburgh professor of Public Health is not
a crank, and her claims and arguments were quite reasonable when

I did hear her on a few show while on her book tour and noted her concern

Re. bluetooth, is it definitely the case that it gives off much less
radiation than cellphones? Even if so I wonder about the effect of
Update: the new drivers seem to have taken care of the stop errors. I
have put it through its paces all week and was able to severely overload

Tell him to stop what he's downloading illegally and walk away slow. These
