There is an additional Button called Purge (or Entfernen in german
Versions).
In the top row of OE you see New Message, Reply, Reply All,
Quite at the end (before IMAP-Folders) is the Purge Button.
After you have lined out the messages hit this button and they get deleted.

Furthermore, it is a reserved option, meaning not for general use.
