Hi,
If you want to reduce brightness in the blown highlights without darkening the
whole image you should reduce the contrast. I would recommend turning off the
base curve, turning on highlight reconstruction, and turning on a low contrast
curve. Then, using the clarity preset in the equaliser
Hey,
just a quick note about the basecurve: that curve is very early in the
processing stack. So if you blow your highlights in this stage, they are gone,
before you can do something about it.
If there are exposure problems it is far better to use the contrast curve in
the colour tab, because

Hi,
I've also done panoramas from a monopod, eg from a mountain top. The monopod
helps to keep the horizon even, compared to a free hand approach. Of course, a
tripod improves quality even further, but it's not a must.

Thanks for the quick help, everyone! I had
Hi,
today I did the upgrade to the nvidia driver version 367.44, coming
from 361.xx
After the upgrade, darktable can't enable OpenCL anymore, it says it
"could not create context for device", whatever that means.
Any ideas what to do?
I am running darktable 2.06 on Debian testing.
Cheers
I did a hardware calibration for a LG wide gamut monitor using their Windows
software, which generates an ICC profile, and I'm using the resulting profile
in Linux. The Windows generated profiles seem more accurate than the Linux ones.

Hi,
yesterday I used the re-worked darktable 2.2 image gallery for the first
time, nice! This is what I need to quickly share some event images without
uploading them to large commercial sites.
But I wondered if it is possible to display titles/descriptions for
individual images in the gallery,

last week I took a couple of images at a concert, and it turned out
that only a small part of each image was interesting. I was too far

Hi,
actually, darktable profits much more from OpenCL support than from better
CPUs/more cores etc.
If at all possible, try to get OpenCL working. This involves cards from NVidia
or AMD, and using their closed-source drivers. The NVidia drivers are
traditionally better at continuing to

Hi,
maybe try the sepia styles at dtstyles.net?
I'm not into sepia, but there are different options for this on that site.
The preview on this "Platinotone" one looks good, IMHO:

Hi,
the original poster is on Debian testing, that's not supported by AMD. The
Debian nVidia packages should work fine. For me, this has been enough to choose

Don't know... Somebody said it already: if possible, choose a card with
a lot of fast memory. The 1050ti cards I have seen all seem to have 4GB
of GDDR5, this sound finde.

Sure, it is a mask. But I wouldn't know how to set a mask for a sharp,
contrasty cat to differentiate it from a blurry background using parameters.
Any hints?

Maybe that's something for the wishlist for 3.0: an "intelligent crop" tool

I am wondering if it is possible to print multiple images onto one

you can set the search path for your library loader (which is different from
the path used by make). See if the current search path for the library loader

Hi,
I am looking at inkjet printers to print photos from darktable on

The Epson XP-15000 looks good (A3+, networked, ca. 300 € in DE, main
drawback probably expensive dye ink, which seems typical for the price
range). But it seems to be too fresh for

Hi,
I remember similar issues some years ago, iirc only imagemagick was able to
process similar tiff images correctly. I think most other programs were using a
certain library (gtk?) that caused these issues.
Good luck!

Definitely true, but printing by yourself offers more choice of paper and a

to add some confusion: I think the only true open source solution for darktable

Hi,
some years ago I got a small Intuos tablet, it was not as useful as I had hoped

It may be different today, and especially for those bigger
